Did we just witness the most impressive WORLD RECORD of all time?
There is without doubt in my mind, no question, that that is anything but the single most impressive lift anyone's ever done.
We're here in Glasgow, Scotland for the Giants Live World Tour Finals.
Make sure you watch to the end to see if I can set the new world record on the new set of Atlas Endurance stones.
We've got 13 of the strongest men on the planet going head-to-head in a strongman competition and to see if we can break the log lift world record.
Me and the 230kg, it is personal now. I'm coming for you, I will bully you and I will lift you.
Stay tuned to see if Iron Biby breaks that world record by putting a 230kg log from the ground up over his head.
Event 1 is the Log Lift World Championships where we'll work with an increasing log weight starting at 170, going 185, 200, 210, 220 and possibly a 230kg world record.
I think in this event, I'm capable of 210kg. I should hit the 200kg and I think a lot of athletes will probably get stuck at the 185kg mark.
I think Iron Biby, he's looking big, he's looking strong. I bet he presses the 230kg and to be honest, I'm not sure anyone else here is going to press 210kg unless Luke Stoltman's in top form, which I think he's had a bit of shoulder issues.
So I'm going to say Iron Biby presses 230kg and then I'm going to say I press 210kg. There's one or two guys who press 200kg and then there's a big backlog at 185kg.
I'm one of the best log pressers in the world. I believe right now I am maybe second or third best log presser in the world, but I'm wanting to hit a 210kg.
I think my uncle will break the world record tomorrow. I think he's going to pick up 230kg.
Last year, I tried 230kg and I failed. I'm back again. Hopefully this year, I will do it. I'm willing to make history tomorrow in Glasgow.
Iron Biby is the most unique specimen of planet Earth. No, I did not think he was going to do that tonight. I felt something was off. He looked nervous. I've never seen Biby that nervous before.
No, I didn't. When he got it to his shoulders and did a little shuffle on his shoulders and it looked like he'd already given it a hit. I thought, no way.
The slowest press in history occurred there. I couldn't believe it. I thought he'd lose his balance while he was pressing it and he didn't.
After 10 seconds or so, he slowly ground it out and that really has to be one of the most impressive strength things I've ever seen.
Event 2 is Sandbag Steeplechase where we have to take 250kg bags, throw them over a post, grab them on the other side and load them onto a loading platform.
I think this event is great for me. Moving events are usually where I thrive. There's a couple other fast guys here in Pavlo Kordiaka and Tom Stoltman also really, really quick.
Someone like Matt Regg is also really capable at moving well. This is one of those events. If you just fumble with the sandbags, you lose a couple of seconds.
It could take you from 1st to 4th or 5th and you could lose valuable points. But I'm going to say top 3 on this event is myself, Pavlo Kordiaka and Tom Stoltman.
We're on the way. Two very big boys.
Built it away early. Regg catching him up and both men launch those sandbags.
Gav was the fastest but Regg is moving quicker.
In between.
Matt Regg. So much hype behind this guy and you can see why.
Charlay tipped him as one of the guys to watch tonight and it looks like your prediction may be right.
Great time there by Matt Regg.
That is really quick and built him right behind him.
That will be good points for the ball.
Stoltman and Hooper. Sandbag steeplechase.
Nothing to choose between these men right now and this is fire.
Look how fast both of them launch those bags. Who's up first? It's just ahead of Tom.
This is close. Shoot's going to take it. No mistakes. Tom's up.
Stoltman goes into the hole. Dogging on there.
And it's Stoltman. His hands are off. He's nearly defamed through the back of the stage.
Yeah, I want this title so much. I'm here to prove a point and I am.
That's going to hurt Mitchell. Here are the points so far. Tom Stoltman top of the pile on 24.
Kordiaka is in second. The Ukrainian.
Event three is a 350 axle deadlift for reps.
I feel very confident with this. I think this will be between myself and Mitchell Hooper.
I think this one is really sort of a runaway between me and Tom.
We're both really good deadlifters. I think I'll be able to edge him out.
This event I'm looking forward to. I won the deadlift event last year at RFG.
So I want to do the same thing this year.
Having to work a little bit harder at that lockout as Mitch is much smoother.
Stronger, he's locking out. Five reps a minute to tie with Gav Bilton.
Andre working hard. He's not as clean but he's got four reps out.
A couple of balance issues there also.
It's a completely new kit for Andre whereas Mitch is used to it. He's used it before.
He's set up better. Gets his zone for it.
On the way and a big first pull there from Tom Stoltman.
The second is just as brutal as the third was.
Tom knows exactly what he needs to do. He's got nine reps in his head.
The big question is Pablo. This is Pablo's weakness.
The advantage he gets to go last.
Tom looking very solid through the first six.
He makes a breather on seven.
Kordiakos in four.
And that's a gorge for as many repetitions as you can.
And we've seen some of the efforts tonight have been ridiculous.
Seven is the total to beat.
Good start here by Luke. Really using that leg power to drive off the floor well.
Kortman seems like he's raising his game tonight early and pulling fast off the floor.
Powerful, Matt. He's trapped the whole lift. Luke's starting to slow down.
I love it. Look at the scene.
This is a great event for Matt Ryder.
He's just smashed through those repetitions.
He's there. Unbelievable.
This would be big points if Luke could take this one.
I would say the winning deadlift number today is probably eight.
Second place will be seven. A couple of guys at five.
Everyone else four, three, two reps.
The overalls. Here we go.
After event three, it's Stoltman with a commanding lead.
Commanding lead. Thirty-four and a half points.
Ragged. Twenty-eight and a half.
Mitch Hooper right there on twenty-seven.
Event number four is the Conan's Wheel.
We're going to take 200 kilos, put it in the crook of our arm,
and walk around in a circle as long as possible.
We have the world record here for the Conan's Wheel in Pavel Kordiaka.
He had an incredible performance at Europe's Strongest Man last year.
Really finding the point and starting to put in a really solid distance here.
Good points possible here for Pavel Kordiaka.
Down it goes.
This is also probably the most important event for Tom not to lose points.
He had a bad performance at World's Strongest Man.
But the thing about being one of the best in the world
is that you can improve really quickly.
You can pull really good performances out of nowhere.
So I wouldn't be surprised to see Tom, not only in the top three,
but I wouldn't be surprised to see him take the win in this event
if he comes in good shape.
Mitch is up and he is away, ladies and gents.
Such an unbelievable athlete, this guy.
We've seen evidence tonight just how much punishment he will put his boy through.
Look at how much slower pace than some of the athletes.
He's keeping control of the implement.
He knows what he needs to do.
Very conscious there of everything that's going on, Mitchell.
And he looks up at the big screen, getting an idea of where he's at,
tucking the air in.
Just trying to allow more oxygen into those lungs
to force out those few extra steps.
Solid effort, Mitchell Hooper.
This is really good.
He's got the right will, which I kind of held back a bit.
So this will be a good test to see how far he can go.
It's a big advantage getting to go last.
You've got those targets to beat, but he still needs to put this in.
He's won the deadlift earlier tonight.
That's going to take it out of his back.
We heard Mitch Hooper talking about how much the athletes are feeling it
in the lower back and the hips.
Matt is moving well and he's actually getting faster.
You can see the confidence growing on his face.
Very composed there, Lars. Really focused.
Coming into kind of fourth place territory now.
Now he's picking up the big ones.
He goes past the start line. He'll go ahead.
Oh, over there.
He'll have a Mitch in sight now.
Can he go ahead? It's close.
Oh, that's going to be a close finish.
By four degrees, he takes the lead.
Oh, four degrees for the lead.
Matt Wragg.
Ladies and gentlemen, New Zealand's own Mr. Matt Wragg with the win.
Last Giants Live at Royal Albert Hall, I had some issues with Taki.
The stone wasn't perfect.
We're on to the second stone. Hooper with a little mishap.
I've taken it into my own hands.
I've got a different strategy with the stones.
Last time I did this, I came second, but that was my own doing.
I want a podium.
I've got different Taki.
I think I absolutely dominated that competition.
I'm wearing forearm sleeves.
It's literally the only thing I'm thinking about is taking back a Giants Live trophy.
A hundred percent, I'm here to win.
I wouldn't be doing it if I wasn't.
I'm a very capable stone lifter.
I believe I'm the second best stone lifter here,
behind the obvious best stone lifter, Tom Stoltman.
I know a lot of people kind of escape defeat,
but I don't want to escape defeat.
I'm back here stronger and fitter and hungrier than ever.
I missed out last year.
I want to put on a show for the Scottish people,
and I want to show them that I'm back to my best,
and I'm here to stay.
The final event is Atlas Stones,
where we take 120 to 200 kilo stones
and load them onto a platform.
Fastest time wins.
We're underway.
Both men showing that athleticism,
and right up goes that first stone.
Very comfortable there was.
He's looking fast, but Europe's strongest man
versus the world's strongest man.
Mitch Hooper just ahead.
Pavlo up with the third stone as well.
180 goes up for Hooper.
Can he get this 200 kilo stone?
Up to his limit.
Needs a little bit more.
Up to his limit.
Needs to set himself,
but Taki failing slightly.
There is the autism.
Mistimed it slightly.
Kordiaka playing the wrong game,
and the Ukrainian locks the fifth stone.
Kordiaka starts to look for this one now,
and squeezes back, and no!
So close.
New heavyweights representing New Zealand.
Welcome Matt Ravito.
It's the whistle,
and Tom's, oh my God,
he hammered that stone up.
The second one with phenomenal ease,
and there's the third,
and this is limitless power.
Wow!
Look at this from the...
Oh!
It's a generous scene in the hall.
Here in the hall's name,
is the albatross,
Tom!
