Sylvia, or Sylvia ou La Nymphe de Diane, was composed by Léo Delibes in 1876. The full-length classical ballet consists of three acts. The piece used is from the third act.

In a letter from Vienna to his patron, Mrs von Meck, in 1877, Tchaikovsky called the ballet "a masterpiece of its kind" and added: "Never before have I experienced in a ballet such grace, such richness of melody, such rhythm and such excellent orchestration".

The dancing fog fits the ballet quite well, don't you think?
