Welcome to Radio Minghui, the podcast of Falun Gong practitioners.
We report firsthand about the persecution in China.
In addition, you will hear personal experiences from all over the world as well as special contributions.
In this podcast, you will hear from the Tibetan transmission
the cultivation history of Buddha Milarepa, Part 3.
Almost a millennium ago, there was a cultivator named Milarepa in the Himalayas.
He attained powerful virtue in just one life and attained enlightenment.
Later he became known as the founder of the white sect of Tibetan Buddhism.
What happened so far?
After Milarepa's father died, the mother and her two children were in misery.
Cousins of the deceased father, who should take care of them according to the will of the father,
withhold their wealth from them and let them do the most difficult work in lack of food.
Even when the mother calls all those who were present at the death of her husband on the 15th birthday of her son,
they will not be helped to their legal inheritance.
With the help of the brother, they try to build a new existence
and Milarepa is sent into the void to a lama of the red sect.
You are now listening to the third part of the story.
Re Chungpa asked,
Master, you had said that you first practiced bad deeds. What happened?
Milarepa replied,
First of all, you create a lot of bad karma with bad deeds
by using deadly persuasion techniques and haggle techniques.
Master, asked Re Chungpa,
Why did you want to learn the persuasion techniques?
Milarepa said,
When I was learning from the lama of the red sect,
one day there was supposed to be a multi-day festival at the Kyangaza level.
The villagers invited my master as a guest of honor and he took me with them.
The people prepared a feast and served my master the best wine.
Ah, there was so much beautiful wine that day.
Everyone had drunk as much as they could and I did the same.
Then I had a full stomach, was drunk and had a dizzy head.
When my master saw that I was drunk, he said to me,
I should first return to the temple with the gifts.
I stepped forward on the hillside, relaxed and carefree.
Somehow I remembered those who had sung during the festival.
Their voices were so beautiful.
As I continued to think about it, my throat ached and I could not help but sing.
My singing was known throughout the village.
Since I was drunk and happy, my voice was loud and clear.
The melody was good, as if my mind would fly.
My legs became more mobile and I jumped and danced while I continued to sing and run.
Without noticing it, I made my way home.
Even when I reached the door, I danced and sang.
At this time, my mother was burning wheat.
She was surprised by the voice and murmured,
This singing voice is exactly like my son's.
But there are probably no other people in the world who have such a bitter life as we do.
I don't think my son would sing so happily.
Confused and curious, she went to the window to take a look outside.
When she saw that it was me, she became so angry that her whole body trembled.
She dropped the lighter in her right hand and threw the spatula out of her left hand.
She didn't care if the wheat would burn.
She took a stick in her right hand and a handful of ash in her left hand and hurried down.
When she stepped out of the door, she threw the ash in my face,
hit my head wildly and shouted,
Mila Shadab-Geltsin, head of the family, look at your son.
The family is done. Look at us, the poor mother and the poor son.
She cried, screamed and became powerless because of her anger.
My sister Peter ran out of the house, cried and said begging,
Brother, think about what you have done.
Look at what has become of our mother.
The sudden chaos made me half unconscious,
but the words of my sister woke me up again.
Shame and grief rose in me and tears of remorse ran down my cheeks.
My sister and I cried while we held our mother's hands.
They gently shook and called.
After a long time, she regained consciousness.
With tears in her eyes, she looked at me and said,
My son, is there anyone in this world who has to suffer a more tragic fate than we do?
How can you be able to sing so happily?
If you would just look at your mother, at this old woman,
then you wouldn't have any tears left to cry.
After she had said these words, we all began to shudder again.
After a while, I stopped crying and said determinedly,
Mother, please stop being so sad.
What you have said is true.
If you have a wish, I will fulfill it for you.
I promise you that, no matter what it costs.
I want to take revenge on my hideous enemies,
who wear beautiful linen and ride powerful horses, she replied.
We are weak and have no support.
The only way to take revenge is through spells and spells that can kill.
I want you to learn this and the Hagel techniques.
You have to learn everything and then come back to kill your uncle, your aunt
and these cruel neighbors and their families.
That is my only wish.
Can you do that?
I promise you now.
Please prepare my travel expenses and the donations for my master, I said determinedly.
So my mother sold half of the country out of her donations
and bought an expensive gemstone from it.
Then she bought a white horse,
a bucket full of dyeing agents and oxen leather for my master and for the journey.
I spent several days in a nearby hotel and waited for travel companions.
Shortly afterwards, five good young companions appeared,
who were on their way to Utsang, west and central Tibet,
to learn spells and witchcraft.
I was happy to meet them and asked if I could accompany them.
They were also happy about another travel companion and agreed.
They assured my mother that they would take care of me
so that she would not have to worry too much.
So we were ready to set off.
The dyeing agent and the luggage were strapped to the horse
while I hid the gemstone with me.
My mother walked a long distance with us and then offered us a farewell drink.
Once again she reminded my companions to take care of me.
Later she took me aside and grasped my hands.
Separation pain filled our hearts and almost suffocated us,
so that we just looked at each other silently.
There were so many words we wanted to say,
but we didn't know where to start.
After a while, my mother broke the silence and said,
my son, just think about what we've been through.
No matter what happens, you have to cast a spell on this village.
The reason why your friends learn witchcraft is not the same as yours.
They only want to earn their living with this ability.
But you, you have to work hard.
My son, when you come back,
before you have defeated the village by the spell,
I will die before your eyes.
I promise you.
Mother, if I don't succeed, I will never return.
Don't worry.
Slowly I let go of her hands and said goodbye.
Then I went back to my companions.
After a few steps, I turned around.
I went a few steps further and turned around again.
Tears ran down my face.
My mother also hesitated to turn away.
Even when we were too far away from each other to see me clearly,
my mother still stared in our direction.
I thought about running back to look at her again.
My feeling told me that this was the last time we should see each other.
My mother waited until she couldn't see me anymore
and then went home crying.
In the next few days, everyone in the village found out
that the son of Nyangza Khagien had gone to learn witchcraft.
My companions and I traveled on a main road to Yuzang.
In a place in the hinterland of Tibet, I sold the color
and the horse to a rich local man in exchange for gold,
which I continued to bring with me.
After we had crossed the Tsangpo River,
we continued to travel to the province of Ü in central Tibet.
We met many monks whom I asked
if they knew a master of spells, magic spells and hagel techniques.
One monk reported that a lama named Yuntan Drogyal
had achieved complete mastery of these techniques.
We continued our journey and finally met this lama.
We prayed to him and each of my travel companions presented their offerings.
I gave him the gold, the gem and everything else I had.
I knelt down and said,
Not only the gold, the gem and everything here is for you, master,
but also my body, my language and my spirit.
Everything I have is dedicated to you, master.
My neighbors and relatives committed very cruel acts against my family.
I have to punish them with accusations.
Please teach me the best spells.
I also hope that you can provide me with clothes and food
while I go to the monastery here with you.
When the lama heard my words, he smiled and said,
I will wait and see if what you said is true.
The master did not teach us the basic spells.
Instead, he taught us one or two magic techniques,
some magic words and how to practice them.
This took more than a year.
My companions learned them and were then ready to go home.
The lama gave each of us a wool sweater made locally.
I lacked confidence and I thought,
if I wanted to reckon with these magic methods,
it could not work and mother would commit suicide.
And so I decided to stay after some considerations.
My companions asked me,
Topaga, are you not going home?
I replied, yes, I want to go home,
but I have not learned enough and am ashamed to go back.
All five said, these spells are already very profound.
The lama himself said that there is no magic technique that is further advanced.
We are confident that it will bring us fame and social status in our hometown.
But if you want to stay longer, that's fine with us.
It's your decision.
They said goodbye to the master and went home.
I put on the sweater and accompanied them for a few hours.
On the way back, I collected a large sack of ox manure
and used it to fertilize the master's best field.
He looked at me from his bedroom and said to another student,
many students come here to learn techniques from me,
but no one is as good as Topaga.
I fear there will be no student as good as him in the future.
He did not say goodbye to me this morning,
which means that he will come back.
I still remember how he came here for the first time.
At that time he said that his relatives and neighbors had treated his family badly.
He asked for curses to redeem himself.
He also said that he would give me his body, his language and his spirit.
He is really an upright boy.
If it is true what he said, it would be a shame not to teach him the curses.
This student passed on these words to me later and I was very excited,
because I knew that there were more magic words to learn.
I hurried to the master, who looked at me and asked,
Topaga, why don't you go home?
I took off the sweater, gave it back to him and fell down begging.
Master, my uncle, my aunt and my neighbors have done bad things to my family.
They have taken our property in an unkind way,
which has caused us great suffering.
We did not have the power to reckon with each other,
and so mother asked me to come here and learn curses.
Mother had already said that if I came back without mastering the curses completely,
she would kill herself in front of my eyes.
So I can't go back.
Master, please be merciful and teach me the best curses.
With these words, I could not help but cry.
The lama asked me,
How did your relatives and neighbors tyrannize you?
I told him how my uncle and my aunt took away our inheritance after my father's death
and abused us.
While I told stories of loneliness, I had to cry.
The tears also came to the master.
Then he said,
If what you are telling is true,
what they did was very bad.
As for the people who came here because of curses,
they appeared from everywhere.
Some brought large amounts of gold and jade,
some brought fine linen and butter to hundreds and thousands.
There were also the best teas and silk and more than a thousand pieces of cattle.
But you were the only one who gave his body, his language and his spirit.
Nevertheless, I cannot teach you any curses yet.
I will now send someone to check whether what you have said is true.
Among my classmates there was one who was faster than a horse and as big as an elephant.
The master sent him to my hometown to check my words.
After a few days he came back and said,
Master, what Topaga said is all correct.
Please teach him the best curses.
So the master said to me,
Topaga,
At first I feared that a decent person like you would regret it
if I taught you the curses right away.
Now we know that what you have told is not invented
and so I will teach you.
I have two secret curses.
In addition, there is a Lama named Yonten Gyatso,
who is both an expert in medicine and in curses.
He has the secret spell for hailstones.
After we taught each other these unique techniques, we became close friends.
When people come here to learn curses, I send them there too.
And he does the same.
You are no exception today.
I will send my eldest son, who accompanies you.
The master prepared food, fine wool feathers and some gifts for me
to give them to Yonten Gyatso.
We put them on horseback and set off.
When we arrived there and met Yonten Gyatso,
I gave him all the gifts.
Then I told him about my tragic experiences
and why I wanted to learn curses.
I asked him to teach me.
The Lama said,
Yonten Trogyal and I are close friends who would die for each other.
He must have reasons to send you here,
so I will teach you the curses.
But first you have to build a Dharma hall at the foot of the hill,
where people cannot see it.
And so we both looked for a quiet place at the foot of the hill
and built a simple Dharma hall.
We used a rock as big as an ox,
behind which we hid the building.
In this Dharma hall, the master taught me the secret spell.
After I had practiced it for seven days,
the Lama said to me,
Seven days were not enough to learn this.
You have now practiced it for seven days,
and so it should be enough.
But I realized that I had to get very far with this spell
and therefore asked him for another seven days.
On the evening of the 14th day, the master came to me and said,
Tonight we will see the effect of the killing spell next to the altar.
Just as he had said,
a divine warrior came to me that evening,
who had heads, livers and gallbladders of 35 people with him.
He said,
This is what you asked of me.
The next morning the Lama asked me,
The divine warrior said,
There are two more people who should have died.
Should I kill them too?
I was satisfied and replied,
We can let them continue to live as witnesses for confession.
Please spare them.
In this way, my uncle and my aunt stayed alive.
Then we made a sacrifice to the divine warrior,
sent him back and closed the ritual.
As shown by the spell in my hometown Kyanggadsar.
On this day was a wedding of my uncle's eldest son
and they had invited many guests to a party in their house.
More than 30 people had come to the party.
It was those who helped my uncle and my aunt to harass us.
Some people who had pretended to be us were also among the invited guests,
but they had not yet arrived.
While they went to the house,
they talked about the evil deeds of my uncle and my aunt.
One person said,
There is a saying that guests become hosts,
while the host becomes a dog.
This was true.
These grumpy people were shameless.
They took away Topaga's wealth and abused his family.
Topaga left to learn spells.
Even if his spell should not work,
sooner or later the revelation of the Buddha's command will occur.
At the time, the whole family of uncle and aunt
was busy with the treatment of the guests.
The guests drank cheerfully.
A market, which used to work for my family
and was now active for them,
went down the stairs to get water.
There she saw gigantic scorpions, snakes and crabs
that crawled all over the floor.
The big scorpions clung to the pillars of the house
and wanted to destroy them.
Full of fear, the girl ran out screaming to the door.
On this day, the horses of many guests were under the stairs.
When a horse, a stud, rumbled,
another horse saw this and began to gallop.
The stud tried to kick the horse with her hooves,
but for some reason she hit a pillar instead.
Suddenly the whole house collapsed.
Everywhere there were crying and screaming people.
The son of my uncle, the bride and more than 30 guests
were all buried together under the collapsed house.
Rubble and dust covered the floor.
Under the broken woods and tiles lay dozens of dead bodies.
My sister Peter was strolling through the streets at the time.
When she heard about it, she immediately ran home and said to her mother,
Mother, mother, come on, look at this!
The house of my uncle has collapsed and many people have died.
Mother was skeptical, but was happy inside.
She ran to my uncle's house.
In front of her were mountains of broken tiles and dust everywhere.
Surprised and full of joy,
she tore a piece of fabric from her worn clothes
and hurriedly tied it to a long stick.
She ran around the area, waved the flag and shouted,
Come all here and look!
Lamas and Buddha, I worship you!
Hey, neighbors, I tell you,
didn't Sherdap Jeltsen have a son?
I, Nyang Zakarian, wore torn clothes and ate garbage
so that my son could learn to swear.
Who still says that we had no success?
Come all here and look!
Uncle and aunt said,
if I had the ability,
I should look for a few people to fight them
and get our property back.
They said, if I couldn't find anyone,
we could try to recite some spells.
Hello, all of you, what do you think?
Tobaga now said only a little spell
and it was more powerful than a big battle.
Look at the people up there,
precious things in the middle and the animal below, everything is gone.
I was allowed to live until today to experience the work of art of my son.
I, Nyang Zakarian, am so happy, so happy!
Ha! Ha! Ha!
I have never been so happy in my whole life.
Come all here and look at this!
Very enthusiastic and satisfied,
he swung the flag and ran around.
Everyone in the village heard that,
even uncle and aunt.
Someone said,
what this woman says could be true.
Another said,
it looks real, but what she says is a little too intense.
When the people heard,
that I had killed so many people with my spell,
they rotted together and said,
this woman has triggered such chaos,
she still runs around and screams happily.
We have to kill her
and squeeze the blood out of her heart and liver.
An older man did not agree with this.
Even if you kill this woman,
it will not help anyone.
It would only lead to your son hating us even more
and killing even more people with his spell.
We should think about how we kill Topaga first,
and then deal with this woman.
And so they did not kill my mother.
But the uncle did not give up and said,
all my children are dead.
I will fight them.
I do not want to live anymore.
With these words he ran off to kill my mother.
The people, however, stopped him and said,
this chaos has only arisen because of you.
Topaga is still alive.
If you kill Nyangzakage,
her son will speak even more spells
and we will all die.
If you do not listen to us, we will kill you first.
And so the uncle held on.
The villagers then discussed
sending someone to kill me.
Mother's brother came and said,
what you said and did yesterday
has caused the whole village
to want to kill you and your son.
Are you ready for that?
He sighed.
A confession is enough.
Why should we all hate each other?
He talked for a long time to calm her down.
Mother sighed and said,
you have experienced what has happened all these years.
Of course I know what people think,
but I had to take revenge on those
who took away our property.
That's how it all started.
You know, this hatred is so huge,
you can no longer grasp it clearly.
She cried uninterruptedly without saying anything else.
Her brother sighed.
What you said is right.
But what if someone kills you?
That's why it's better to close the gates.
Mother closed the gates
and then continued to think,
because she felt insecure.
Out of pity for my mother,
our former market came secretly to her and said,
they don't want to kill you now,
they just want to end your son's life.
You should tell him to be careful.
When mother heard this,
she sold half of her remaining land
for seven taels of gold.
She wanted to give me the money,
but didn't trust anyone in the village
who could have brought it to me.
When she thought about bringing me the gold herself,
a yogi came and pilgrimaged to Nepal
through our village and Batu Malmosen.
My mother asked him in detail about his origin
and thought he could be a suitable guest.
So she said to the yogi,
Master, please stay here for a few days.
My son is currently learning Dharma in Utsang.
I would like to write him a letter.
Would you bring this to him?
The yogi agreed and stayed for a few days.
Mother took good care of him.
That evening she lit a lamp
and expressed a wish
by kneeling before the deities.
If my wish is fulfilled,
this lamp will not be extinguished.
If my wish cannot be fulfilled,
please let it go immediately.
I sincerely hope that Topaga's ancestors
and divine elders
can show me the result.
After she had expressed the wish,
the lamp burned through the whole night.
Mother believed her wish was fulfilled.
The next day she said to the yogi,
Master, pilgrim clothes and shoes are very important.
You can give them to me for repair.
I would also like to give you
an additional pair of shoe soles.
Then she gave the yogi a large piece of leather
to cut soles from it.
Then she repaired the yogi's coat.
In the middle of the back,
she embroidered seven pieces of gold
and put a piece of black fabric
about 30 cm high over it.
With thick white thread,
she then stuck six tiny stars
in the middle of the black fabric
and covered them with another piece of fabric.
She did all this without the yogi's knowledge.
In the end, she stamped a seal on the envelope,
gave him the letter
and gave him many gifts as a thank you.
Then mother thought,
I don't know what these villagers are thinking now.
I have to come up with something
So she said to my sister,
The yogi who left yesterday
brought a letter from your brother.
Peter told this to many people.
Then mother wrote a fake letter
that imitated my style.
Dear mother,
I am glad to hear that the
murder complaint worked well.
If there is anyone else in the village
who treats you and my sister Peter badly,
please let me know.
So I can cast a spell on their name.
With my persuasion skills,
it is easy to kill someone.
It is not a problem to eliminate
their entire family and relatives.
If no one in the village is good,
I hope that you, mother and Peter
will move here.
When I left home at that time,
I had nothing.
Now I am rich and worry-free.
I wish you all the best.
Your son Topaga
Then she stamped a replica seal
on the letter.
After she had shown the letter
to many people,
she left it in her brother's apartment.
In this way, the villagers
did not dare to kill us anymore.
Because of the letter,
the villagers also demanded
that my mother's uncle
gave back the field of the Oroma triangle.
But back to the yogi pilgrim.
When he heard where I was,
he visited me.
After he had told me in detail
about mother and sister in the village,
he gave me the letter.
In the letter, mother wrote
Dear son, I am fine.
Please do not worry about me.
When I see what my son has achieved,
I no longer regret anything.
Your father will also be satisfied in the hereafter.
After your letter took the lives
of 35 enemies,
I recently learned that the villagers
wanted to send someone to you.
He should not kill you first and later.
Please be careful.
Since they intend to take revenge,
we should not just forgive them.
You should bring a heavy hail storm
to destroy their harvest.
Then I would be satisfied.
When your training money is used up,
you can get more money
from seven families of our relatives
north of the mountains.
They are deep in the dark cloud
under the six glittering stars.
If you do not know where these relatives are
or where the village is,
you can find it with the yogi.
He is the only one who lives in this village.
It is not necessary that you go somewhere else.
Your mother, Nyanza Kargen
I read the letter,
but did not know what it meant.
I thought of my hometown
and my mother.
I did not know anything about the village
and the relatives described in the letter.
I had no idea where I could get
the training money.
Tears ran down my face.
After a while, I dried my tears
and went to ask the yogi.
Apparently you know where my relatives live.
Could you tell me something about them?
The yogi replied,
I only heard that you have relatives
near the Himalayas.
I asked, do you know other places?
Where are you from?
The yogi replied,
I know many other villages,
but I do not know anything about your relatives.
I come from Ü.
Then I said to him,
if so, please wait here.
I'll be back soon.
I showed my master the letter
and told him what happened.
Your mother really has a huge anger.
Killing so many people
is not enough for her.
She is still praying for a hail storm.
Then he asked,
where do your relatives live in the north?
I replied,
I have never heard of relatives in the north,
but it is written in the letter.
I also asked the yogi, but he has no idea.
What's going on?
At that time, the master's wife was also there.
She read the letter and said,
could you ask the yogi to come in?
She started a fire
and invited the yogi to warm up
and drink something.
Then she started a conversation,
spoke about this and that.
Coincidentally, she followed the yogi,
took off his coat,
then took it off herself and said,
with such a weathered coat
on pilgrimage you are blessed.
Then she went around the house
and up the stairs.
She took the gold out of the worn coat,
sewed it back together
and gave it back to the yogi.
Then she invited the yogi to dinner
and to stay the night.
Later she called me to her.
Tupaka, please come to the master's accommodation.
We went together to the master's room
and she gave me the seven pieces of gold.
I asked surprised,
where does the gold come from?
She replied,
your mother is very smart
and has hidden the gold safely.
In the letter, a village on a mountain in the north is mentioned,
which means it is a place
where the sunlight does not reach.
Isn't the inner layer of the yogi's coat
outside the sunlight?
Dark clouds mean
it is covered with black fabric.
Six glittering stars
indicate the six stitches of white thread.
Seven families under the stars
indicate seven pieces of gold.
Only the yogi lives there
and you don't need to go anywhere
because the gold is with no one else
than with the yogi.
The master laughed loudly and said,
the people say you women are smart.
Is that really true?
I gave the yogi a mace gold,
a tenth of a tael,
which he was happy about.
Then I donated seven maces,
the wife of the master
and three taels to my master.
I also told him,
mother asked me to pronounce a spell
for a hail storm.
Please, master, could you pass on
the secret hail storm method to me?
The master replied,
in order to learn the hail storm spell
you have to turn to Jungton Trogyal.
The master wrote a letter
and gave me some local products.
I went back to Jungton Trogyal,
gave him the letter
and the gifts
and gave him three taels of gold.
In detail I described to him
why I had to learn
the hail storm spell.
The master asked,
were your spells effective?
I answered,
35 people died.
Then I received a letter from mother
asking me about a hail storm
and so I hope she will help me.
He replied,
no problem, your wish will be granted.
Then he taught me the spell
and I practiced it for seven days
in the lady's hall.
On the seventh day a dark cloud
appeared between the rocks of the mountains
opposite us. Thunder was thundering
while lightning was lighting up
as if a great storm was coming.
Now I knew
that I had the ability
to control hail storms.
