Ulrich Bauhofer

Do you often go out to eat?
Going to a restaurant saves time.
You don't have to cook yourself.
Often it's a social event.
You meet with family, friends, colleagues or business partners.
But are the meals we take with us healthy?
My answer is, it depends.
I've picked out three dishes.
If you order them, you can safely say goodbye to the idea of healthy nutrition.
Unfortunately, they are among the most common and most ordered.
Many people see them as a mixture of reward and deep satisfaction.
Dishes like soul food or favorite food come to mind.
In this video, I'll explain exactly why they harm your health.
It's a video with the motto,
REFUSAL IS EASILY MADE.
There are now restaurants that focus on high-quality food.
They cook fresh food, process organic food or offer vegetarian and vegan dishes.
I've been a vegetarian since the early 1970s.
And believe me, we live in a paradise today.
In the past, you got a plate of cooked vegetables and a lot of potatoes.
You just ate side dishes.
Today, almost every restaurant offers at least one refined vegetarian or even vegan dish.
Many people eat out of the house, in a restaurant, in a canteen
or even if they have to go fast, in the take-away or from the delivery service.
Of course, this can make your daily life a lot easier.
But to feed yourself on your own, to cook yourself,
is still the best diet you can afford.
If I were to explain these tips to you in detail and live,
I would be very happy if you would visit my free online workshop on the 12th and 11th.
You can find the link for the registration in the description below.
Now let's get to the three dishes you should avoid the most,
but unfortunately they are the most common.
Let's start with breakfast.
Number one, pancakes.
Pancakes are permanent burners in many cafes.
With jam, chocolate spread, syrup like maple syrup
or even worse, pure powdered sugar.
Besides reasons that are obvious, namely that they are sugar and calorie bombs,
mostly made from cheap white flour and industrial sugar
and thus drive the blood sugar level up and facilitate weight gain,
I want to make a completely different point.
Glucation.
I can't repeat it often enough.
When you cook, i.e. when you heat up,
you combine proteins directly with short-chain carbohydrates and sugar,
here the eggs with white flour and sugar,
then a chemical reaction takes place, the so-called Maillard reaction.
It takes place when amino acids and sugar are converted to new compounds under heat.
I'm talking about AGEs here, Advanced Glycation End Products.
You could translate it as sugar end products.
AGEs are now considered the key molecules for the aging process.
AGEs cause real problems in our metabolism.
A small part of it can pass through the kidneys.
But the much larger part is stored for years or even decades.
This leads to glycation, an oversuggestion of vessels and membranes.
This means that AGEs react uncontrollably with body-like structures.
So you can eat them.
But they also develop at 37°C, body temperature within us.
The more AGEs, the more internal inflammation we develop.
Until a surface fire is created and causes diseases like diabetes, osteoporosis, joint inflammation,
arthritis, cancer, gray hair or age-related macular degeneration, which eventually leads to blindness.
In short, diseases of civilization that lead to paralysis.
This also includes skin aging.
That's why we get wrinkly.
AGEs favor atherosclerosis.
This means that they glue and stiffen our vessels.
This can lead to a heart attack and stroke.
But also to brain fog, i.e. concentration difficulties and nerve damage.
When the food is fried in the pan, the AGE load increases even more.
My tip is not to eat too often or leave it out completely.
Let's get to point 2, our second dish.
Burger, fries and a lot of ketchup.
Apart from the fact that meat in 90% of the burgers you get in fast food, but also in other restaurants,
consists of pressed meat, often including meat waste,
and is full of preservatives and flavor enhancers,
this is the same case as in point 1.
Protein is fried or grilled and combined with fast carbohydrates.
The protein of the meat, plus the flour of the bun,
plus the ketchup with a huge amount of sugar,
a tube of ketchup with 500 milliliters contains 126 grams of sugar.
That's 38 pieces of sugar cubes.
The whole thing is nicely grilled.
Result? The AGE load shoots up.
Greetings to your vessels.
But that's not all.
Most of the time, fried food is in cheap fats.
We're talking about so-called hydrated vegetable oils.
Of course, you all know the common vegetable oils that are used for cooking,
soy or sunflower seeds.
They are considered healthy.
But not if they are chemically processed.
For example, hydrated.
In this process, hydrogen is added.
This way, the oil becomes silky-smooth and long-lasting.
No more greasy fat and also good for baking.
Perfect for baked goods or fried foods.
Sounds too good to be true.
Even for people who eat vegan,
vegetable fat seems to be a great substitute for butter when baking.
For example, there are often products
that are praised as pure vegetable fat and as a healthy variant.
But you should definitely avoid it.
Because it's hydrated vegetable oil.
Trans fats are produced during the hydration process.
In other words, unsaturated fatty acids.
5 grams of hydrated fat per day is considered harmful to health.
A large number of studies show
that the regular consumption of hydrated vegetable oils
promotes insulin resistance,
which can lead to type 2 diabetes and increase inflammation.
As well as massively endangering our cardiovascular health.
Scientists at Harvard University in Boston
have been studying the diet of 85,000 women for over 16 years
and have come to the conclusion
that those who move sufficiently,
do not smoke and consume little trans fats,
are 90% less likely to develop type 2 diabetes.
In addition to baked goods, such as cookies and fried food,
there are other foods that contain trans fats,
such as margarine, coffee cream,
pre-made dough or microwave popcorn.
My tip?
Enjoy them very rarely or avoid them.
Ugly trans fats also play a major role in the third dish.
The so-called chicken wings.
The chicken is still the smallest problem,
because white meat is healthier than red meat.
However, ready-made products often contain breast meat
or you can also say form meat.
This is meat that consists of meat chunks,
which are machinally gouged.
Why?
The muscle fibers are loosened in this process
until protein is released.
Many manufacturers still accelerate this process
by adding salts and certain enzymes.
Then the chunks are pressed again.
Some manufacturers freeze them,
others heat them up with the result
that the protein obtained in this way shrinks
and the form meat remains firmly pressed.
Then spices and aromas are added and breaded.
You can already guess.
I have something to say about breading again.
It contains, in addition to many carbohydrates,
E-numbers, flavors and aroma substances,
durability and preservatives,
especially the dangerous trans fats,
which regularly catapult their cholesterol levels out of their normal range.
They lower the good HDL cholesterol
and increase the bad LDL cholesterol.
I made a detailed video about cholesterol
that I would like to recommend to you
if your cholesterol is too high.
LDL cholesterol accumulates in your vessels
and facilitates cardiovascular disease and stroke.
So my tip is to be very careful with chicken products.
I really hope you find this background information
as exciting as I do.
Because I really get to know new tricks of the food industry every time,
which I sometimes almost don't want to believe.
But you know, we as consumers decide
and can also set an example with our shopping.
Your Ulrich Bauchhofer.
