I don't eat the paper babe. Yep I got it baby. Okay. Oh he ate a little bit of the paper.
Good afternoon everybody. Hello. We are here at the Borough Market. Yes and you know how we love
food hauls. I don't have my hydroflask bags or my little flatware ziploc things. But you have
a backpack in case there's something dry that'll keep. Yes. That we could take with us. Yes. This
is one of the oldest and biggest markets. Like a thousand year old. That's crazy. And it's an
outdoor but it's all covered. Outdoor. Yeah. It's gonna be a lot of fun. A good portion of it is
covered. Yeah. So we're gonna do it Ben and Lisa style. You know how we roll. Yes and I'm hungry
now. Okay let's go. Little mini pineapples. Oh they smell fresh. We're in the giant cheese section of
the market. If you are a cheese lover you will love it here. Yes there's so many different wheels
of cheese. Yes. They have some already cut up pre-packed. Yes and I know we're not big blue
cheese and gorgonzola fans but they have tons of it here and it is like the echelon of cheese. Yes
lots of selection. Yes. And then I think we're gonna move on to another section right now. Let's
This one has their sticky cinnamon roll. Look at that bottom right there. Oh my gosh. We don't
see the bottom. We want to see the top. It's cold. Yes there it is right there.
It looks really good right. Oh my gosh. Try it out. Try it out.
Wow. That is good. It doesn't need that icing they usually stick on like a cinnamon. Oh no no yeah
that is perfect. Perfect the way it is right here. They just made these today. I know it is
very fresh tasting. So delicious. Be sure to come and see him. Yeah cool guy. He's the one that helps us.
He said his favorite is the brownie and the almond croissants. Yeah yeah. One more bite.
That's good. It's moist huh baby. All right. It doesn't need anything. It's perfect the way it is.
This and a cappuccino. You're set. Yep yep. Off to a good start. Here we are. Yeah try it out.
Gotta like mushrooms though for sure.
We came across a salt beef vendor over here. It looks like pastrami. Never tried it yet before.
They have a sandwich or it's on bagel. It looks really good. I think we're going to try one of
these out. That's the bagel one and then the salt on rye and they even have it on fries. Look at that
beef dripping chips. Yeah for sure we're going to try it.
Thank you. Oh look at that. We gotta stop and take a picture. Classic salt beef. Yes he asked us if
we wanted a Reuben or classic like this. Yeah so we got the classic like this so we don't have a
like almost like a sauerkraut or some sort of cabbage mixture in there or anything like that.
Right right. We want to taste. We want to taste the beef. We want to taste this beef. Yeah. You ready
Ray? Yeah go ahead babe. Go ahead. I'm very curious how close it is to like pastrami what we know back
in the states. What first comes out is that saltiness of that beef. Then with a hint of
that mustard. Crunchiness of that pickle. This is delicious. This is a winner right here. Let me
just taste the beef itself. Beef is really good. When I first tasted that beef it had a little bit
on that sweet side. What was interesting in that salt it really kicks in so it's a very savory.
That was a very savory bite. The pickle is crunchy. I know they're pickles but they're not
sour pickles. They're just really crunchy pickles. Oh yeah this is good. I don't know what kind of
mustard this is. It's like mustard wasabi. Man. It has a kick. It clears out your sinuses like
instantly. The beef to me it tastes a little bit on the drier side with a little bit of like a salt
pure meat. It is good. The pickles are nice and crunchy. Red soft but that mustard. I could use
way less mustard but that's me. Mustard lovers this is your dream right here. Overall I do like it.
This is the farmer market portion of it. They have fresh seafood. They have fresh vegetables and
fruits that you can get here. They have fresh meats that you can get here as well. We're in the
seafood portion. Look at all this seafood. It looks glorious. Here's the bomba paella place. This is the
one where it has the seafood paella right here. We tried this one on our last trip. Yeah.
Here you go. Sample. Thank you.
Oh great. Try it baby. Oh yeah. Hold on. Let me help you out there for a sec. Thank you baby.
Great tasting paella. You have to try it. It's very fresh so I think it needs to marinate a little bit longer
but very good. Here's the Dorset oyster bar. I'm gonna try one oyster and see how it is.
Yeah they have all of the the sides here right and here's the oysters right here right? Yeah.
Wow. He recommends the sweet and sour sauce. We're gonna get a little bit. Oh look at that. It's a big
There you go. Oh wow. That looks delicious. Yeah you've never seen sweet and sour sauce
where we were right? Here we go. You want a wooden fork?
It's pretty loose. Pretty loose going. It's gonna board in my mouth actually. Here we go.
That's a pretty yummy oyster. The oyster very very fresh. I'm surprised when I put on that
sauce it wasn't squirming a bit. No oyster taste at all but that yummy kind of like sweet taste
that you would want from an oyster and that sweet and sour sauce not not very much on the sweet
more of a tart sour. That was delicious. I think you'll like this one baby. Wow so you uh you found
something you like besides New Orleans oysters. Yes yes. You want to try one babe? No I'm good.
Only if they char grill it. I don't think they do. Mulled wine. Yes I know it's not Christmas
but this is when you would normally get your mulled wine but they have it at rural markets
so you have to try it out. Yes we are now mic'd up because it's getting really crowded here now. It
is and this is a Tuesday and this is off season and so just think if it were like in the middle
of peak season be crazy. Yeah try it out.
So it was uh five pounds. Oh that's delightful. The wine tastes that little tartness that you
normally get very slight. You can taste all the fruits in there and it's nice and hot on this
whole day. Oh wow yeah we're gonna be sipping on this one for a while. It's funny because
the color of the wine is the same as your top. Yeah this is my wine top. There's a lot of fruit
and veg sections here and look at how beautiful. If you've never seen rhubarb before it's usually
a dessert and it's usually sweet but it actually looks like celery. Yeah they have rhubarb fruit
pies right? Yes they usually do. Yeah I had no idea I thought it was a berry.
Here at the Turkish deli we had to try their baklava. Now this small piece of baklava and
a Turkish coffee was four pounds fifty right? Which is equivalent to. It was like 5.43 USD
I think somewhere around there but before I try that that that coffee let me try this baklava.
Pistachio look at that. Very soft on the bottom. You can see all the layers. Wow
no but like honey squirting out. It is so nice with that layers of that was a phyllo dough
and you could definitely taste the pistachio and all that honey.
That is really good. Very fresh. Let me hit it up with this dark looking coffee.
They put a little sugar in there. It is not as bitter as one would think. It actually is pretty
smooth. I know it's high octane it probably has a lot of caffeine in it but that's what we need
to get us through this market. Butter, pistachio. It's delicious. I can just down this one bite.
This is almost like a baklava shot. We're here at the ginger pig. I think we're gonna get a
traditional sausage roll right here. They even have pastries and everything. Look at that.
Yeah we're gonna order one up. This this is my little sausage roll. It's nice and warm.
This is from the ginger pig. It says traditional. They had all different kinds.
Oh very thick like butcher paper here. Oh wow look at that. Oh my goodness.
You know we're gonna pause for a second to take a picture and we'll be right back.
We're back. Let's try this out.
A lot of sausage in there. Yes I just love that sausage to pastry ratio. It is nice and
juicy sausage. It's mild but it has a great flavor to that sausage. The pastry nice and flaky.
This is like the perfect kind of pastry you would have in like a chicken pot pie or something like
that. But this is really good and what makes it extra special is it's nice and hot. You know
yeah this this is one of the I don't have too many sausage rolls but it's one of the
the best ones I've had. It sets the bar high. It does. I think you'll agree when you try it.
This sausage roll I'm ready to dig in on this. You can see the puff the crispiness or not the
flakiness of that pastry. The nice meaty sausage. Imagine a sausage meatball put in the middle of
this pastry and then baked together. You can really taste that nice quirky spice goodness
in there. It's still steaming. The that keep on saying the fluffiness that um flakiness
of that pastry. This is a match made in heaven. Oh yeah it's right here. Ginger pig and
there's the big market right there. It's kind of tucked away. Yeah when you go explore
Borough Market it has a bunch of fingers. Go explore all the little fingers and you'll find it.
This place sells a bunch of fresh squeezed juice. All different kinds. These beautiful
strawberries are coming in season and now you can also get it with chocolate for 7 pound 50
which is pretty cool. And she's getting the strawberry and putting the chocolate in.
And without the chocolate it's what five pounds? Yeah it's pretty popular here. Yeah
beautiful lavender here. They have fresh lavender. It's not strong smelling than it's sitting here.
They have lavender jams, lavender honey. Everything here you would think for lavender.
This is from the black pig. We got the slow roasted pork salad. Let me go ahead and try
out this pork and then after this we're going to mix everything together. Try out this slow
roasted pork. It looked really good when it was like stewing in that in that pot. It did and
they've had some sort of green. They asked if you wanted chili and they said no chili on this one.
Let's try this out. Oh yeah it's like a salsa verde. It tastes very minty. It's very good.
Oh I have it here. It's a slow roasted pork, fennel, apple, slaw, honey truffle mayo. Honey
truffle mayo. That's why the sweetness is there. And the salsa verde with 30 month age parmesan.
Here's the listing over there. We've got everything mixed up right here. They go big on the meat. No
shortage here. Let's try it out. That apple slaw and this pork. It is a match made in heaven.
This is like the perfect salad. We're walking by and we smell some Cajun fish on the grill. Yes.
Yeah. So we stopped by Applebee's fish. This is a Cajun fish and prawn which is shrimp
wrap. They put it all in here. What they do is they warm up the tortilla.
They put in a bed of lettuce and they have sweet chili and mayo. Then they put the freshly
cooked shrimp and fish in there. He's looking at this. I know he wants a bite.
You have it right under my nose. Here baby.
How's that baby? Does it need anything else? It doesn't? That is it. Look at that. Oh yeah.
Freshly done right in front of you. That combination of that fresh fish and that prawn
with that Cajun seasoning. Oh yeah. The tortilla is like slightly warmed.
This is something right out of like New Orleans I think. Almost just about. It has that kind of
flavor to it. Yeah. Nice and well done. Oh yeah. There you go. I don't eat the paper babe. Yep I
got it baby. Okay. Oh he ate a little bit of the paper. That's just a little bit of protein babe.
That's okay. It tastes all good huh baby?
Taco Padre here and you can get tacos here. You could get a suadero. Look at that. Yeah.
All different kinds. Carne asada. They even have frozen margaritas.
But yeah Mexican food here in London. Yeah. I don't know. You know we're from LA. Come on we're
like taco capital. So I don't know if I want to try babe. What do you think? Let's move on. Okay.
Now that's the main portion of Burrell's market right there. We walked across the street. This is
the famous fish and chip spot that's right behind me and there are more stalls in here. So we're
gonna go take a look in here. Okay let's go. Let's go. Look at this. This is your German sourdough
bakery. Look at that. Wow they even have a lot of uh what's some kind of
quiche or desserts right here. Hazelnut cakes. Yeah look at that.
There's cute little dishes right here of little animals, farm animals, fishes. Yeah all these
little ones right here. Little bowls. So there's stuff here besides food right? Yeah it's pretty
cool. There's deep brownies and extra deep brownies. Check those out. Look how rich that
looks like. It's vegan, caramel and then over here we have some NYC. Some New York City kind
of cookies. Gingerbreads and they have these nice little jam heart sandwiches. Perfect time for uh
well Mother's Day coming up right? Yeah. Pretty cool. Looks good. Handmade fudge and you self
serve your fudge. Yeah look at all the different uh varieties. Peanut butter, lattes, chocolate
orange and it's self-serve. You just get a bag and I think they sell it by the pound. As big and as
little as you want. Oh I don't think by the pound maybe by the kilo. Yeah. Over here flavor of the
month, rocky road, clotted cream. We got clotted cream right there. Yeah so uh if you're into fudge
this is it. This is it right here. Right next door to the fudge is these cannolis. Soft cannolis.
Look at there's these are perfect little two biters. Yeah this is the name of the place.
There they are. They're very small. All different flavors. They have the soft cannoli and the
Sicilian cannolis. And look at that. Agostino. It looks like a lobster roll of some sort. Oh over here? Yeah.
Oh wait a minute. Is that like the uh is that like the lobster rolls? You gotta try it. Really? Okay
let's do it. Found a lot in the other uh borough market across the street. Not the other but the
extension of the borough market. Nice little seating area here if you can find seats.
Yeah it's a big open area. Pretty nice and open area. And uh you know for the smokers there's a
smoking section right across the way. But we've got what one cannoli. They call it an angostine
I think it was. And it looks exactly like a lobster roll. The ones you know that that uh. Buddy B's.
Buddy B bakery. Yeah. Or Carlo. Carlo bakery does. So these are little miniature style. They had vanilla
and coffee only. And we got one of their popular pistachio cannoli. The Sicilian cannoli. So we're
gonna go ahead try out this little angostine. I don't know which one this is but you can see the
layers in there. You ready baby? Yeah it it looks and feels the same. Just like a lobster tail. Yeah.
Yeah let's do it. Get the other one. Yeah try the other one. So one of them is a vanilla and one of them is coffee.
Yeah. So we'll see which one we have. We'll see which one is is filled with what. Yeah.
Cheers. Cheers babe. Coffee.
Very crispy. Good. I think Carlo's bakery is a lot more like a hard crispy.
This is like a flaky crispy. Soft crispy. Yeah.
Which one better baby? I have to give it to Carlo's. Really? I really like that
that very hard crisp. I like this one. I like the soft crisp. I like this one better.
Not to take away from this. This is delicious. I love the size of it. It's a perfect size and
these are only two pounds. So it's perfect. We have to get a little cannoli. That's mom. This
is called the Sicilian cannoli and this is pistachio. We're not really big into cannolis
because they use ricotta cheese or something. Yeah. Right. But give it a shot. You know it
might taste different here. To me it tastes like peanuts and it's kind of sweet but it's good.
You try it out babe. Okay. I don't taste too much of the cheese which is good for me.
Nice sweet pistachio flavor to it. It doesn't taste like peanuts to you?
Yeah well the pistachio nuts. Yeah tastes kind of like peanutty. But I'm glad they're small
because I can't imagine eating that like a big one. Yeah. Yeah. This is a perfect size. Yeah.
Need some water with it though. Yeah. We're at Fitch Kitchen. This is really popular for
their fish and chips. We're gonna get some haddock I think this time. Yes. We got the
haddock right? That's a huge piece right here. Yes. And we had to put a few pumps of ketchup
because that's all they have. Yeah no tartar sauce here. I asked for tartar sauce and he
looked at me like are you crazy? We don't do tartar sauce here. I forgot this place only
does ketchup. Yes and we got a side of mushy peas. Mushy peas right here. Wow. Okay. Let's
try this out. I wanted to make sure I got this before I left London. These are my favorite. I
love mushy peas. Look at that. Nice and mushy. It is exactly what it's called. I'm sure it matches
the fish and chips nicely. It's buttery. If you like green peas this is what it is. It's almost
it's a buttery flavor of like a spaghetti soup. Does it need salt or anything? No it has enough
seasoning in there. Maybe maybe if anything a little bit pepper but it's more close mushy peas
it's more close like a soup and it is delicious. To show you how big this is this is like the
length of the fork so you can see how long of a piece this is. Let's cut into this with my fork.
It is a steamer. All of their fish items come with chips. Yes they do. Extremely hot.
Last night which you'll see or you have seen on the on another video we tried the cod at the
poppies. Poppies. Yeah poppies which I think is a chain fish and chip place but here we go. Had it.
Yes this is in the touristy area. This is a darn good fish and chips. Well the fish. I haven't
tried the chips yet. Very light batter. That fish is seasoned perfectly. You're right or the guy is
right. I don't think it needs any tartar sauce. I could eat it just like this. It is delicious man.
This is wow. You know another thing that adds to the what?
Charm. Another thing that adds to the charm of having the fish and chips here
is you're in London so that just elevates the experience of having it. This is very very good.
Nice and flaky and by the crowd you know that it has a very high turnaround on these
fish and chips and I'm having some trouble putting it on my fork.
Oh look I got a combination with the chip. That's why you do it. Yeah yeah it's worth it.
I'm sure there are other types of fish that they offer
just as delicious but this haddock excellent. That is a wrap from Burroughs Market. We still
miss the Iraqi food. We miss the Indian food only because we are too full so when we come back to
this market which we know we'll be back hopefully this year back to this market and back to London
we gotta hit those places up first. Yeah not only that but there's so many other places that we
didn't get to try. Yes we just kind of walked by them there's so many pastries there's so many just
like indulgences here and so they're hard to indulge on everything even the the restaurants
that are directly outside of Burroughs Market it looks like something we have to tackle next time.
I think we did a pretty good job though. Yeah we did. We really did and look it is getting crowded
past lunchtime. And this is Tuesday at about two o'clock. Yes yes. I can only imagine during the
summer when their high time is it is probably packed in here. I'm sure it is. Yeah well that
wraps things up again from here Burroughs Market. We are full. I think we were successful.
We did Bill and Lisa style. Yes yes and be sure to catch the other videos that we have.
The one that we did before this one when we first got the airplane experience
Burroughs Market. Oh we did a Harrods video right baby. Oh yeah yeah. Now we're going to go walk this food
out off and you'll see that in our last video going to visit now the London Bridge. Bottom line
it's going to be like four videos all together. Yes yes in our day and a half four videos. Be sure
to see them all. Only because you know how we roll. Yes. We go. We're signing off. Let's go.
Until our next adventure. We'll catch you guys on the next one.
