🚔 DODGE CHARGER High Speed Pursuit 120 MPH - PIT & TASER deployment on driver #arkansasstatepolice
Trooper's Report:
On October 14, 2023, at approximately 9:02 PM, I clocked two cars westbound on Interstate 40 at over 100 miles per hour. I
was able to identify the second vehicle as a Dodge Charger. The Charger accelerated at speeds over 120 miles per hour. The
Charger continued westbound on Interstate 40 using all three lanes of traffic and driving with no regard for other motorists. As
the Charger approached the MLK Blvd exit, he went from the far right line to the far left lane cutting off several westbound
vehicles. The Charger then cut back across all lanes into the far right lane.
The Charger then passed a semi-truck on the
shoulder of Interstate 40. Based on the reckless driving and speeds, I used a Tactical Vehicle Intervention to stop the charger.
After coming to a stop, I gave the driver verbal commands but he was ignoring them and just yelling back at me. After several
rounds of commands, I was able to instruct the driver to climb out his window and onto the hood of my patrol vehicle. The driver
continued to be argumentative and did not obey any verbal commands. The driver stepped off the hood of my patrol car and to
the driver's side. The driver was facing me as I instructed him to turn around, to which he replied no, he was a grown man.
With my Taser in my right hand, I attempted to turn the driver around but he used his left arm to strike my arm away from him.
At this point, due to his non-compliance, I deployed my Taser. The driver fell to the ground, was laid on his stomach, and was
taken into custody without further incident. During my time with the driver, Sgt. Steve Roberts was able to take the passenger
into custody. The driver identified as Deandre Brown was checked by Crittenden County EMS, and released at the scene. The passenger was identified as Tamarah Brandon and was transported to Crittenden County.
During my conversation with Brown at the sheriff’s office, he stated that he didn’t intend to stop and was going to continue to
flee. Brown had a strong odor of intoxicants coming from his person and also admitted to drinking. I gave Brown a PBT, with an
unsatisfactory result. I read Brown his implied consent rights. He stated he understood but would not take a urine test. At the
time of his arrest, Brown had a total of $3518 cash on him, which was counted by myself and TFC Spencer Morris.
Brown's charges were as follows:
Driving While Intoxicated
Refusal to Submit to Chemical Test
Fleeing in a Vehicle (Felony)
Reckless Driving
Speeding
Resisting Arrest
Assault 3rd Degree
Tamarah Brandon’s charges were as follows:
