It has to dry of course, so we hung up the shirt to dry, so somehow I had to
incorporate the classic Sashu Omone gag. Now we start with a few information for you,
now it's getting exciting and of course also information for me. I think it's going to be wild now,
I think you've prepared a lot. Yes, definitely. Sascha, once again welcome here at the most beautiful
spot or one of the most beautiful places in Austria, here at the Riemerhof. I would like to introduce myself briefly,
please. My name is not that important, but what is more important is that I am a member of
the training group 4 of the training department of the hunting commando. Here, the training department is like
the school of the hunting commando, so you can imagine that. With us, all hunting commando
soldiers undergo various trainings and, among other things, survive training in the environment,
like jungle, desert, arctic. We are responsible for everything related to behavior, captivity and
hostage-taking, the training group 4 is responsible for that and we do it with full
enthusiasm and conviction and enjoy the training. How long have you been around,
if I may ask? I have been with the hunting commando for 27 years. We are here at the training ground,
as you can hear in the background, helicopter movements. We have now been here for three weeks in a row,
the tanks were on the move. Yes, we are exactly here now with our, I would say,
classroom in nature, where people see various types of fire, fireplaces, accommodation
and so on. And of course build it up in a practical way, just like you. Sascha,
we have prepared a presentation for you, our forest and meadow video beamer.
A forest and meadow beamer and a PowerPoint presentation. Exactly, you will take this presentation
home with you and study it in peace. Right, I'll be back. Great. Okay. Tüftl.
Yes, as Guns'n'Roses has already sung, welcome to the jungle. Soon it will be your turn,
soon you will find yourself in a tropical environment and everything will be different
than here. You will have extreme humidity, you may have storms, you may have a
downpour every day, you may have a tiger. Sorry, you're breaking. Do you think there will be a downpour every day?
Possibly, possibly. If you're unlucky, it rains at least once a day. But it's great to start
with water. It's a two-edged sword, positive or negative. But of course we only see the positive
aspects, no question. Exactly. Sascha, let's start. What is a tropical rainforest? What is a
so-called jungle, as we always call it in the technical jargon? So you have an annually dense,
always green forest vegetation. You won't find a steppe there, you won't find dry savannas there,
you will always find green forest vegetation there. Very high rainfall, you have trees 40 to 50
meters high or even higher, up to 70 meters high trees. A very dense leafy roof, of course,
always depends on whether the person has already intervened in this rainforest or not.
We'll get to that later. The temperatures are around 20 to 28 degrees, depending on where you are. I don't know
exactly where you will be traveling. Is it Latin America, will it be South America?
The temperatures can vary by a few degrees. There are no real seasons,
you can distinguish between dry season and rainy season. In the dry season it rains only a few times a week,
in the rainy season several times a day. Have fun in the rainy season. We basically distinguish
this deep rainforest, which goes up to an altitude of 800 meters. Most likely,
if you are from an island, it assumes that you will rather visit this deep rainforest.
The mountain rainforest goes up to 1,500 meters and everything that goes above this height is called the fog forest,
because the warm air masses rise and fill these mountain terrain sections with dense fog. Gorillas in the fog, for example.
Where is the rainforest on our beautiful earth? We distinguish between three large areas.
We have the Amazon here, one of the largest connecting rainforest areas in the world.
Then we have the so-called Congo Basin here in Africa, also with many countries that are included in the tropical rainforest.
And here Southeast Asia, also known as very tropical. If you look, the equator runs right in the middle over these places.
And we have this northern and southern equator. And in this are the largest tropical rainforest areas on earth.
This has to do with the fact that the sun is always at the highest point on the equator and thus delivers most of the sun's radiation.
All the water that is in the sea, that is in the rivers, evaporates. I have very high rainfall all the time and that's why this vegetation is so green, so lush, so oversized.
Well, we distinguish from the normal jungle, from the normal rainforest, we have this primary jungle.
The primary jungle is comparable to what we have when we look into such a high forest.
I have a dense leafy roof, I don't have such extreme vegetation at the bottom, because plants need light to grow.
Very important, I have now constantly put a umbrella over it at the top, nothing will grow at the bottom.
Primary jungle, that means I can move quite well in there and pleasant temperatures.
Now the human comes into play, cuts out 1, 2, 3, 10, 100,000 jungle giants.
The sun shines down to the ground and a so-called secondary jungle is created.
There the movement is very difficult again. I have very dense vegetation, I have to work my way through with the machete to get from A to B.
If I could choose, I would prefer to be in the primary jungle.
And the increase in this are the mangroves, they are even worse than the secondary jungle.
There I am up to my chest in the water, there I wait through mud, there I scratch through roots, trees.
So that's really, if you come into a mangrove area, have fun.
So primary jungle, secondary jungle and the mangroves.
Here I have prepared a little diagram so that you can see, not always a lot of rain, not always the same temperatures.
That means there is also a time when the temperatures drop a bit, but you can see most of the time, there is a lot of rainfall, the temperature is just pleasant in the tropical rainforest.
Of course, this varies from Latin America to South America, as I mentioned before, but you will soon notice.
Let's get a little bit to the animal world, what might expect you, also because of animal food.
Maybe you have the opportunity to catch one or the other animal, or you find an endangered animal somewhere and it's still from the meat that was in the jungle.
Agouti, for example, is found a lot in South America and Central America.
This is a rodent, weighs up to 3 to 4 kilos, is active during the day, that is, they run around like field rabbits here.
You can find these Agoutis, of course, very fast, they are rather leisurely on the road and easy to catch.
The peccary is a wild boar species, a very small wild boar, because they are really tiny.
This is a striped peccary, there are also different types of it.
And the tapir, which is very active at night, you can hear it, it always whistles so funny, it makes funny whistling sounds.
And there you immediately know, ah, there is a tapir on the road, they always look for the water spots at night, drink there.
From the meat, the tapir is also very comparable to our domestic pig, from the consistency it is very pig-like, I'll tell you now.
It gets pretty big, the probability that you might catch a tapir is rather low, if then more peccary or these little rodents.
Yes, now we come to an interesting topic, namely snakes.
Here you mainly have poisonous snakes that can be dangerous to you, which are in the area of Central and South America.
And there, for example, the coral snake is also a very dangerous snake, because it has two different types of poison.
One neurotoxin, which is a nerve poison, it stings nerve muscles, interrupts synapses, very, very bad.
And in addition, it has the new myotoxin, that is, it goes on the muscle tissue, the heart muscle mainly.
Your heart won't work anymore, you'll just die.
Without the antiserum, you come to a breathless state and end of story.
There is a saying, a donkey bridge, blood to daughter, killer otter, blood to coal, to you for the good.
That means blood, the red part of the snake is meant, and the yellow next to it, red and yellow next to it, is the deadly version.
There are snakes that look similar, but have a different color combination.
Interesting, but more in the direction of North America.
It may be that in the area of South America, Central America, other color combinations are poisonous again.
So you really have to be careful.
I recently spoke to the snake expert in the Natural History Museum about the coral snake.
She said that this is bearable for the southern part of North America, but it can look completely different in the tropical rainforest.
Treat every snake, no matter which one, as if it were poisonous.
Avoid it, don't go looking for it, always leave the snake in the escape area, so that it comes away.
Basically, snakes are not aggressive.
If you drive it into the narrow part, if you say, hey snake, now I'm going to move you to the body, then the snake will defend itself.
It will bite, an attack on a defensive bite, maybe not so much poison is initiated, but that's enough for a lot of poisonous snakes, and you will die.
Let's go on.
Let's go on, it's getting better and better.
Coral snake.
In French Ferdelans, a very large poisonous snake is very loyal to the territory.
That means, if you see or recognize a large snake that looks like this in your camp area, then it is better to leave this area.
Your camp is not in that area, it comes back, it is very loyal to the territory.
Interesting, okay.
It has a so-called poison cocktail, made up of various poisons.
If you survive the bite, you will definitely have enormous tissue damage, and that of course causes the loss of limbs, whether it is an arm, a leg, whatever it is.
Here you can see the leg of a snake, it is amputated above the knee and it is completely destroyed, irreparable.
Plant otter.
Is it common?
Yes.
Here you can see a plant otter with its poisonous teeth, but it is already dead.
Here I have only mapped an anaconda, which is supposed to represent the coral snake.
The coral snakes are of course not poisonous, but the bite of such a snake can of course also lead to extreme contamination of your tissue, of your blood.
You have to keep your distance here too.
They are of course slower, not as aggressive, but still, just keep your distance.
Unless it's really about survival, you need animal protein, animal food, then of course you have to kill and prepare your snake.
But I wouldn't get involved with an anaconda now, it has a little more power.
It is super banana, but the anaconda consists only of muscles.
Crass, madness.
Machine.
The largest snake species in the world.
The plant otter is, in contrast to the coral snake, which is not aggressive at all, rather on the more aggressive side.
It looks like it, I'll take a look at it.
You can't have fun with that.
No matter which snake comes, you can only repeat, repeat, repeat.
Just keep your distance, go at a distance, don't play the hero.
You can't read the snake.
You don't know how it's positioned, what it's up to.
Just keep your distance and get away from there.
I don't want you to have abdominal cramps, vomiting, bloody diarrhea, and so on, and then die quietly and secretly.
I don't do that. I want you to come back whole again.
What else do we have nice that crawls and flutters around in the jungle?
Here we have two recordings of a so-called arrow-poisoned frog, also known as a treetop frog.
They are found in various color constellations.
They are beautiful frogs, some of them are as big as a thumb nail, really like porcelain.
If you see them, you would like to take them in your hand and kiss them.
But that would be deadly.
They are really very, very poisonous.
Residents in the tropical rainforest use them, for example, partly for their arrowheads.
They get the poison out of them.
Don't attack them if you have an open spot or any mucous membranes.
If the poison gets in, that's it.
Very, very poisonous.
What is very painful, one of the most painful stories you can imagine, is the so-called 24-hour pain ant.
It's really called that, or also called bullet ant.
It has very painful claws and a spike.
If this ant, which is as big as our big forest ant, maybe a little bigger, if it stings,
then you have a constant pain for 24 hours.
The Wayapi Indians, for example, they are in the north of Brazil and south of French Guiana.
They have a ritual where they braid children's hair with grass.
Then they are caught, stuck in the head, fixed, and then their children are held on the upper arm, face, thigh, chest.
And then they stab them.
The children scream like crazy.
This is a torture ritual.
And of a pain scale of 1, light pain, and 4, extreme pain, this animal has 4 plus.
The people who are stabbed by it, describe it as burning inside.
I've seen it a lot. Fortunately, I haven't stabbed anyone yet.
Have you seen it a lot?
Yes, the bird spider.
I'm more of the harmless one of these fellows.
But still, don't attack, don't go too close.
They can shoot the hair, hook it back so finely, then you have it in your skin, it itches again.
They shoot the hair away?
Yes, exactly.
So just keep your distance.
Don't try to catch it and look at it up close.
It's just not worth it.
Mosquitoes are the very best source spirits.
They are small, but they are unpleasant.
They can be annoying, they can transmit diseases.
Please protect yourself from these source spirits.
Mr. Sascha, in 2016, I was in the Central African Republic for a few months,
close to the Congo border,
and there I was stabbed by such a nasty fish.
A few days later, I had malaria.
Really? Malaria?
Fever spikes, up and down.
Shit!
If you don't recognize it early, it can be fatal.
That's why you should take malaria prophylaxis.
I also took it, but very early in the morning.
Just before 6 a.m.
I sweated a lot.
They are active around 6 p.m.
It's better to take malaria prophylaxis around noon.
Then you have full protection until the evening.
If you sweat a lot.
What is it? Tablets?
Yes, tablets. Malarone, for example.
It's not enough during the day.
Your friends.
I noticed that you have an affinity for crocodiles.
Absolutely.
You must meet one somewhere and compare yourself to it.
The largest crocodile species in Latin and South America
is the so-called pointed crocodile.
Up to 7 meters.
Up to 7 meters, but there are exceptions.
Mostly around 4 meters.
The good thing is, it's not as aggressive
as the striped crocodile or the nile crocodile.
But hungry?
Not there.
They are all hungry.
We are just like that as humans.
You will have a stick.
A survival stick.
You will defend yourself with it.
Don't run away.
That won't work.
They can run quite fast at short distances.
Up to 45 km h.
You can't do that in the jungle.
The biggest crocodile is the attack.
Make it big.
And then you just don't hit it.
And we see, it works.
Shit.
Okay.
If I'm right, they think of you.
Please.
The probability that you will meet one is very, very low.
But if, sell your skin as expensive as possible.
Shit.
And we come to the next crocodile.
The family of alligators.
The crocodiles are the real crocodiles.
The caimans belong to the family of alligators.
Maximum 3 m.
A very pleasant companion.
You don't have to be afraid of it at all.
Yes, but I read that crocodiles wait up to a year.
And they remember where the poet went to drink water last time.
They wait under the water surface.
And if you go to the same place, you're out.
And you're already a festival.
It won't happen to you.
Let's believe it.
Caimans are very night-active.
During the day, they are pulled down somewhere.
And in the night, only somewhere on the rivers.
Basically, it lives in fresh water.
But there are also possibilities that it briefly swims past you somewhere in the sea.
But mainly fresh water.
From here to there.
And the top crocodile is also both.
Sweet and salty water.
Active, but prefer sweet water.
That's interesting.
First aid with a snake bite.
Rule number one.
Keep calm.
Try to keep your circulation as active as possible.
Try to avoid the bitten extremity.
Whether it's your arm, your leg, whatever.
Don't move it too fast.
Don't move it at all.
Keep it really calm.
So that the poison doesn't spread so quickly, right?
Not spread so quickly.
You shouldn't go running.
You shouldn't strain yourself physically.
But if possible, behave as calmly as possible.
And also mentally.
You will get scared.
You might panic.
And then you have to try to calm yourself down completely.
If possible, don't go by yourself.
But let it transport itself.
If you're alone, don't think about anything else.
Just move slowly.
If you can identify the snake.
If you can recognize it.
Either photograph it, film it.
Which is often not so good.
To kill the snake.
This is exactly what happens when people are bitten again.
Because they heal the snake behind them.
I have to chop off your head now.
So I can show you which snake it was.
You have cameras with you.
You try to film or photograph it.
So you can say it was this and that snake.
I need this or that antiserum.
You may notice that your body is changing.
There may be poisoning symptoms.
There will be extreme pain at the bite point.
There may be numbness.
You will find it difficult to breathe.
You may get a so-called eyestrain.
That means you can no longer move your eyes.
These are signs that you have been bitten by a poisonous snake.
Provide fluid.
Yes, as much as possible.
But neither coffee nor alcohol.
Water would be ideal.
If possible, immediately provide medical assistance.
Things like cutting out, sucking out, burning.
That doesn't work at all.
Just leave it.
It doesn't help at all.
On the contrary, it may be that the spot is destroyed even more.
You have also said, try with ice.
If I have ice available, cool it down like this.
Just leave it.
It may also be that if you want a pressure band,
it also has a negative effect at the bite point.
Cover very lightly so that no parasites get in there.
Because the wound is still bleeding.
But don't make a pressure band.
Cover very lightly with a pressure band.
Tear off the bandage and then bandage it.
But very important.
Keep calm, stay calm.
Make sure that as soon as possible,
you have a satellite phone.
Get help.
Identify the snake immediately.
Or at least photograph or film.
And as I said, keep calm.
Make sure that you slowly move towards the beach.
If you were in the jungle and were bitten.
Because it's the time of the ups and downs.
The more time passes, the worse it gets for you.
The faster you are found by the rescue workers,
the better it is.
You move towards the beach,
pay attention to yourself,
stay in the shade,
drink, drink, drink.
And immediately get the rescue workers to you.
Don't move fast,
think slowly and positively.
With everything you do,
wherever you move,
always try to be as careful as possible.
Whether it's working with a machete or a knife,
or something else.
Otherwise it goes like me.
This happened to me a few years ago
in French Guiana.
A beautiful scar remains.
We sewed it right in the jungle.
And then it went on.
It went on.
In the jungle.
How did you do that?
Our doctor said,
come here,
we had a jungle roof.
He did the first and last stitch himself.
In the middle,
one of our paramedics was allowed to do it.
He practiced on me right away.
It worked great.
But it goes fast,
if you're really clumsy.
I helped a comrade
to set up his hammock.
I was already done.
He came back from the march a little later.
And zack zack, let's go, let's go.
Done.
Please, please be careful.
Nothing heals in the jungle.
Nothing heals.
The juice, it's always wet.
It just doesn't heal.
What's great, what's your advantage,
you have more next to you.
You have salt water.
You can go into the water with injuries.
It burns in the beginning,
but the salt is great.
The salt water is great for small injuries.
Otherwise, in the jungle,
when you're constantly wet,
nothing heals.
These were my feet
and my stay.
If you have a lot of mud in your shoes,
you can't do hygiene regularly,
because you're just out and about.
Then it gets infected.
Your feet are constantly wet.
It's called a so-called
ditch foot.
It's completely white.
It's frayed.
Bacteria, whatever, come in there.
And it looks like this at some point.
And you walk like on glass shards.
It burns.
Always try to do body care.
Always be careful.
Body care? When?
Very important.
Let's get to the useful tips.
If you walk around a bit on your island,
look at the vegetation,
then you might
come across this fruit.
It's very, very striking.
It grows at a height
where you can pick it very easily.
It's called Uruku.
And if I open it,
I have a lot of
little red berries in it.
You take these berries out.
You can grate them
very well in your hands.
And you use it as insect protection.
That means you lubricate yourself
like this man in the photo.
It's also sun protection,
but mainly protection
against insects.
It's like an insect protection agent.
A mosquito or something else.
Uruku.
Exactly. Very striking.
These furry red structures.
The older they get,
the darker they get.
You have to go through nature
with your eyes open.
The subject of fire.
Do you really need a fire
in a tropical rainforest?
Do I always have to prepare food?
If I have the fire,
it's really difficult
to make a fire in tropical regions.
I have enormous humidity,
up to 100% humidity.
Everything I touch is wet.
Even with a lighter,
it's difficult
to make a fire in the jungle.
It's always good when the fire burns
that I never let it go out.
Always make sure that it is replaced.
From the wood itself.
In tropical regions,
it is roughly distinguished
between three types of wood.
The white wood.
You go here with a machete,
remove the bark and see
if it is white or yellowish.
Then it is the soft wood,
like spruce for example.
If you cut down a tree
and you see the green
coming out,
then it is medium-hard wood.
And if you
cut down the bark
and you see it red,
then it is really hard wood.
It is mostly wood
that does not float.
If you want to build a raft
and you see that it looks red,
don't chop it down.
You throw it into the water
and it goes down.
To start the fire,
you use the white wood.
Later,
when you have a good fire,
you can add red wood.
It lasts much longer.
You put a few pieces in
and it burns all night long.
That's great.
It is important
to spread the wood
around the fire
so that it dries.
You can take some objects with you.
One of them
that I would recommend
is this filter.
It is a water filter
that filters out viruses,
bacteria, particles,
chemicals and even
heavy metals.
You can filter
up to 20 liters
of water
until the filter
gives up the ghost.
It works really simple.
We will take a look at it later.
If I would recommend
a filter,
it would be this model.
You have containers and filters
in a system.
The food in the tropical rainforest,
the banana,
also helps against depressions.
Banana is a great home remedy.
It has a very high potassium content.
If you get
light depressions
after days of loneliness,
you look for bananas,
eat as much as possible
and the depressions are gone.
That's very interesting.
Bananas are easy to find.
You recognize them.
Harvesting when they are
too high up is interesting.
Bananas don't always grow high up.
Sprouts can also be
very low.
Don't be surprised if the banana
grows a little smaller.
They don't grow as big
as in our supermarket.
But the taste is much
more intense than
in our supermarket.
I'm curious.
I can use the coconut
to drink
the coconut water.
It's really good.
I can use it for
diarrhea.
You can also use it
as an infusion solution.
And of course
I can use the coconut meat
as food.
If the coconut nut
is still hanging on the coconut palm,
it can be a very dangerous
story if you don't know
how to get up there.
But if the nut has already fallen down,
just take it, open it and enjoy it.
The so-called palm heart
is very easy to win.
You hit two birds with one stone.
You chop your palms
that grow there.
You need the leaves
to cover your accommodation.
And in the middle,
where the palm always produces
new leaves,
this is a closed system.
This is called
the palm heart.
If you chop this down,
remove the bark,
then such a bright,
soft core appears.
You can take it normally
and cut it into small pieces
and eat it.
It is very juicy
and tastes really good.
And a little tip on the side.
Fruits that are eaten
by monkeys
are usually also
edible for humans.
Still, what you don't know,
or you do the so-called tasting
by simply
taking this fruit
and rubbing it
on the underside
of your wrist.
If there is no pain
in 10-15 minutes,
no allergic reaction,
whatever,
then you can put a little
of the juice of this fruit
on your lips.
If it tastes very soapy,
don't eat it.
If you get swelling,
also remove your fingers.
If you have nothing,
wait another 10 minutes,
then eat a small amount
of this fruit,
wait another half an hour,
and if you don't get stomach cramps
or anything else,
then start eating this fruit
in small amounts.
Don't put it in right away,
it could be an overreaction.
My body tolerates this fruit.
I don't know it,
but I saw the monkeys
chewing it.
I did the tasting
and now I can also
nibble it.
Food can also be presented
in an animal form.
Here is a photo
of one of our trips
in French Guiana.
We always made a grill roast
where the caiman,
the fish,
and the banana leaves
are placed on top of it.
A fire is made
underneath
and it smokes all day long
and prepares
your food.
It is smoked,
so to speak.
Here you can see it again.
Nicely covered with leaves.
And preserved, right?
Not as preserved
as it should be.
You have to do it differently.
But I wouldn't keep it there.
I want to prepare it
as quickly as possible
and eat it.
What's in there,
no one will take away from you.
If you want to make such a roast,
it is important
that you always remove the bark.
Take very fresh wooden sticks,
not dry ones.
It can happen that they start to burn.
You can put forks in there.
Why remove the bark?
Because it dries up quickly
and also starts to burn.
If you have smooth, wet wood,
you can use it for a long time
so that it burns through.
It is also important
to keep a good distance
between your fireplace
and the meat or fish you put on top.
For such a situation,
you need three quarters of a day
and then the food is ready.
Check if it is raw
or already through.
If it is not raw,
cover it again and wait.
Please do not eat raw meat
in tropical regions.
It could be that it is very
contaminated with parasites.
This is already eliminated
by the heat and cooking.
Last but not least,
we have a few useful tips.
I have already mentioned hygiene every day.
Make sure that you
go to the sea every day
and wash yourself.
You will sweat a lot,
you will lose a lot of salt,
you will get dirty,
you have friction points
on certain body parts.
Remember my feet in the photo.
This does not happen
when you take off your clothes,
clean yourself completely,
wash yourself and
you don't necessarily need a soap.
I can do that great in the sea water.
The salt dries
and you rub it down
with your t-shirt.
Try to have a daily routine.
Do not try to sleep for a long time,
but as soon as the first sun rays
wake you up,
be happy.
If you have the energy,
do a pleasant, comfortable workout.
With measure and goal.
You probably have less
food that you take with you,
but with the calories
you take with you every day,
it will be relatively little.
You have to adjust
your physical activities accordingly.
Do not press the bench too much
or take less weight.
Keep order in your camp area.
Where you set up your camp,
everything must start
to be removed
from the growth anyway.
If you are down there
and you see this growth back there,
a lot of animals can hide there.
There are nesting animals,
there are hunting animals in there.
This is not so optimal.
Take a machete,
take a stick
and remove all the grass
that has grown there.
There you build your camp area.
Now you have leftovers,
they will not just throw them away,
but you make a hole
away from your camp area
and that becomes your waste pit.
You don't want to attract any insects,
any mammals,
crocodiles that come to visit
to nibble on your leftovers.
That's why you have to keep order.
Also your seven twigs that you have there,
whether it's your water bottle,
if you have one, your machete,
don't leave it lying around,
but in a fixed area,
that's where I hang them,
that's where I find them at night.
Here is my headlamp,
here is this, here is that.
If you have to leave in the dark,
for whatever reason,
then you should have your seven things
ready to go.
As already mentioned,
if your fire burns,
don't let it go out.
Always try to have enough firewood.
That's work.
Basically, surviving is always work.
Always.
Don't lean back,
put your feet high
and wait for what's next.
You have to find a job,
you have to find accommodation,
you have to look for drinking water,
you have to organize firewood,
and so on.
You are constantly working.
That's why a good schedule
for your daily routine.
Now I'm doing this,
you don't have a watch with you,
now you don't know,
I can't say,
I'll do this and that in an hour.
When I'm done,
you have to do this and that
so that you really have a good schedule,
a structured daily routine.
Time goes by much faster,
you don't start grumbling,
I feel so bad and so on.
No.
You are alive,
you are doing well,
you are master of the situation
and you will make it.
That motivates.
The so-called thunderbolt.
If you build your emergency route.
As long as you have an emergency route.
Here with us,
when people do their survival training,
they get relatively little to eat
this week.
Now they never go to the toilet.
If you have to go to the toilet,
try to do your emergency route
away from your accommodation,
where you mainly stay.
Pay attention to the wind direction.
Most of the time,
the wind goes in the same direction,
so that you don't ruin your business
and then you always have
such a strange thing
in your accommodation.
Again, of course,
pay attention to hygiene
when you are done.
I would call these thunderbolts
rather close to the water
so that after the business,
there is no one there
who is watching you,
who is watching.
Then I would go into the water,
wash myself thoroughly,
and then go back to my work.
Or it may be that you don't have to
go to the toilet for seven days.
Otherwise, clean in the water,
make it clean,
never take any leaves
or water directly.
If I have the water,
I definitely use it.
With the leaves,
I don't get a decisive reaction.
It's never as clean as when I use water.
And it's neither cold,
you can just make it wet,
If you have to venture into the jungle
for some reason
because you got a challenge,
go into the jungle and do this or that.
Then you have neither a compass
nor a compass, nor a GPS,
whatever.
You will have a hard time orienting yourself.
You take your machete,
go into the jungle
and every 15 steps,
10-15 steps,
you make a mark
on a tree,
on a bush, whatever.
And if you go
in this direction, in the jungle,
the marking is made
here,
so that when you find your way back,
when you orient yourself back to your camp area,
you have your markings.
At eye level?
Exactly, eye level is optimal.
You can break branches,
that also works,
but be sure to mark your way.
Unworked, free,
walking back is easier.
Don't just go into the jungle
and I know,
you turn around twice in the jungle
and don't know where you are.
And you turn around half a time
at night and you don't know
where you are.
In the jungle it gets very dark very quickly.
The curtain goes down,
and it's pitch dark.
It's better to stay
where you are
and don't move anymore.
It's not funny.
Be always busy.
Always try
to do some work.
It doesn't have to be hard work
where you burn a lot of calories,
but always keep yourself busy
and carve something.
Think of nice things.
If you have a challenge,
don't go full euphoria,
but sit down,
think about it, make a plan.
How do I do it best?
How do I save my energy?
That's going to be difficult for me.
But you have to take the time.
Absolutely.
Don't rush into something.
That would be very bad.
Sit down, think about it, make a plan.
Evasion plan.
If this and that doesn't work,
what else can I do?
How do I get to my goal?
Saving energy without needing
a lot of resources.
That's survival.
Creativity is flexibility.
And that's what you are.
You are creative, you are flexible.
You are a happy appearance.
You have your heart on the right flag.
What more do you want?
You send me into the jungle.
Where is the helicopter?
No more.
As soon as the dusk comes,
arms long.
If you have a blouse like me,
just put your arms down.
Malaria, whatever.
Protect yourself from too much sunlight.
If you stand out on the beach,
you don't have a shadow over you.
The sun is shining.
You have little sun protection.
Always try to wear your bungee hat,
your jungle hat.
It protects you very well.
Like on vacation.
You don't just lie on the beach.
You also look out into the shade.
Don't lose any objects.
Everything you lose,
everything that is gone, is gone.
There is no one who comes and says
Sascha, you lost your knife.
Sascha, you have your shoes here again.
No, that's gone.
And you have to deal with it.
You have to get angry.
You have to say, how stupid I was.
There are not many objects you have to look at.
But you keep a few things together.
You keep them in order.
And then it fits well.
Do you promise me that?
I promise.
Don't go into the sea in the middle of the night.
It is possible that you have sharks
that swim around your island.
And the hunting time
is usually early in the morning
or when the dusk breaks.
And that would not be so good.
Shark attacks are usually
rather rare.
But if you are swimming
or if you are standing
it is enough
if a small white-tailed reef shark
comes
and pinches you.
That can be a reason
that you leave.
Because the bite wound is too strong
and it then ignites
and you have to go into the water.
No matter where you are going
whether in the water or on land
always look where you are going.
Don't go through the area
like we do.
The day is beautiful.
Look where you are going.
Do you remember the story
about the snakes that are boiling in the water?
Please be careful.
The area there is
more extreme.
Not as moderate as here.
Whether it is fauna or flora.
It is just more interesting.
Try your headlamp
when it gets dark
and you have a task to do
where you need light.
Otherwise don't waste the heat.
Save your batteries,
whatever you use.
If you really need light
try not to wear the headlamp.
Light attracts insects.
Not the light itself
but the heat
that radiates the light.
That attracts insects.
There is a disease
called Leishmaniasis
that occurs in tropical regions
and is transmitted by the sand mosquito.
It is a very small flying species.
If you have it
in your face
and you get Leishmaniasis
then it eats
the whole flesh
of your head.
Only the skin remains.
I saw an instructor in the jungle
who had it in his face.
It looks very wild.
It is better to get Leishmaniasis
on your hands
than in your face.
If you stay on the beach
where there is always a nice breeze
you won't get Leishmaniasis.
In the jungle
it can happen.
Also don't bathe
in standing tropical waters
or drink from it.
You have dangerous animals
like poisonous crocodiles
or parasites
that dig into your skin
and can transmit
diseases
like bilatiosis.
That is not nice.
I wouldn't be afraid
of a crocodile
or a sandfly
or a worm.
Respect!
These are the bad guys
that you take home with you.
It can happen
that Leishmaniasis
has subspecies
that only breaks out
2-3 years later.
It can attack your mucous membrane
and your intestines.
Shit!
Get a survival stick.
It should be a stick.
We will build one
in about a month.
It should be able to carry a weight
and you need it at night
when you walk from A to B
to probe something
when your headlamp
doesn't work anymore.
You can defend yourself
you can knock down
fruits that grow higher up.
If you walk along
a jungle path
and there are spider webs
so that you don't run into them
and you have the animal rules
you can clean them up.
It is a useful helper.
And last but not least
I want to give you
a tip.
Try to see nature
as your friend
and not as your enemy.
Don't try to fight
against nature.
You won't succeed.
Nature is everywhere
and it is much stronger than us.
We are a part of nature.
See yourself as a part of nature
and experience a wonderful time.
Try to see and hear
the beauties of nature
and not the negative things
like
everything is shit
and I will die or whatever.
Enjoy the time
and apply
with nature
and not against nature.
Okay.
I will try it.
If you are in an emergency
and you find some trees
with a so called
plank root
you can use it
as a drum.
You get a piece of wood
and hit the plank root
and the sound
is so loud
that you can hear it
far away.
If something happens
it is an alarm signal
if you don't have a cell phone.
Are you?
I am.
I tried to hack it
but it didn't work.
Great.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
I want to say
a few words
to you.
Peace!
