The summer interviews of the public are a pretty outdated tradition from times when there was no social media and political news was rarely seen during the summer break of the Bundestag.
But they at least give me the opportunity to check statements of the interviewed politicians.
So what is true of what Björn Höcke said in the summer interview at the MDR?
Yes, thank you very much, Mr. Sänger, but that was a blatant introduction.
Authoritarian, national, radical was, I think, the triad they brought.
They don't want to be called extremist, not right-wing extremists, and there are plenty of reasons why you think about terms.
Let's take a look at it all together. Here we go.
And with that, welcome back. By the way, two important notes in advance.
If you want to discuss in the comments, you absolutely have to stay respectful.
And secondly, politicians, we hope that one or the other will be forgotten in such interviews.
Which of course is not the case, because they don't really have an influence on that.
But you on the other hand, and we all have a right to be forgotten.
This is an EU law and that's why it's exciting, because companies like YouTube or other social platforms collect data from you.
You know that better than I do, of course, and this data is also collected by data brokers.
They then collect your personal data.
It feels like they're standing in a corner somewhere at a bad party, watching you all the time and don't leave you out of sight and then possibly pass on the data.
But the companies and data brokers are obliged to delete all links and these data themselves or copies of these data, at your request, on the basis of this law.
The problem could take years to take care of.
And this is where today's advertising partner Incogni comes into play.
You give Incogni the permission to contact these data brokers in your name and Incogni then takes care of everything, i.e. really everything, to have your data deleted.
And on the Incogni website you can follow exactly how many brokers have been registered and how many of your data have been successfully deleted.
If you are interested in Incogni, please use the link in the description.
The first 100 of you will still receive a 60% discount, a really useful investment for more control over your data.
Let's start with Höcke.
It is about the fact that the AfD in Thuringia and Höcke announced in 2019 that they wanted to revise the curriculum.
Setting up your own curriculum was the goal.
In 2019, for example, you promised to revise the curriculum on WLAN.
You could have also submitted a specific draft law for this, but you didn't. Why wasn't that so important anymore?
Dear Mr. Sänger, revising curriculums is really an original task.
Revising timetables is an original task of the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education.
The opposition can then correct as much as possible.
And you can't write that to us as a defect or a deficit in the school.
We are advisory, what the curriculums, what the timetables are about.
So what is true is that the AfD really said in its Thuringian election program for the then state election 2019,
We want to revise the curriculum.
In all areas, consistent and binding requirements should be set.
Of course, such election programs, no matter which party, are always demands for the case of the case that you really govern alone, without a coalition partner, without compromises.
That's why Sänger also asks why the AfD didn't even create a draft law for it.
So what Höcke says here is not wrong, but also not a real answer to the question.
Höcke rightly says that the final elaboration of the curriculum is not in the hands of the AfD.
But why the AfD did not introduce a draft law on the subject, there is no answer to that.
And very exciting is also the fact that the AfD has since the last election in Thuringia since 2019,
two and no more draft laws on the subject of school has introduced in Thuringia.
By the way, on the website of the Thuringian parliament you will find the so-called, attention,
participation transparency documentation.
That's really a single word, but it's really a great tool and easy to understand what shows you, depending on the party, date and status,
how many draft laws have already been introduced in this current legislative period.
But what did the AfD bring in?
On the one hand, at the end of September 2020, there was a draft law on the subject of school and then there was about three years of break until there was a second draft law in mid-2023.
It is four pages long and suggests that a maximum of 10% of a school class in Thuringia may be occupied with students who still have, quote,
"...need for funding for the acquisition of the German language", end quote.
So clearly expressed, those who speak German too badly.
The first draft law of 2020 suggests that Thuringian schools should be digitized less.
From the point of view of the AfD, there is a lot of lobbying work by companies behind this, that more digitization should be done, quote,
since the digitization of the education system not only, but also offers a great advantage for companies, there is a lot of lobbying work in the background.
But did Höcke lie here? No, but he is still guilty of a real answer.
In the interview, Höcke also said that two draft laws on the subject of education are completely normal and completely okay.
Well, now the question arises, of course, what exactly is completely normal and completely okay?
If I look at the numbers, I see two concrete draft laws of the AfD in the field of school education in an entire election period.
That has nothing to do with the thousand-fold applications that you have just illustrated.
Two, when it comes to hard work, that's not a lot.
Why are there so few initiatives and concrete solutions in the field of education? What does that mean?
So, dear Senge, the draft law is the royal discipline in the parliamentary process.
Two draft laws by the opposition, that's not a small number, but that's completely normal and completely okay.
We will see and you will see that we are maximally engaged in the field of education.
Guys, I really didn't waste any time or effort here and clicked through the individual parties in Thuringia and looked at how many school law applications the individual parties have submitted since 2019.
To understand how many there are in the ratio, here are the numbers of all draft laws per party.
The Greens 63, the Left 63, the SPD 64.
Here you have to say that these are the three government parties, they are all involved in it.
CDU in any case 39, FDP 20, AfD 23 and the parliamentary group of citizens for Thuringia 1.
And now the individual draft laws on the subject of school.
The Greens have submitted 6 here, the Left 6, SPD 7, CDU 6, FDP 2 and the AfD 2.
The parliamentary group of citizens for Thuringia 0.
So what is completely normal and completely okay in the end is also in the eyes of the viewer.
But you have to mention that the AfD is a much larger group than, for example, the FDP, which has done a lot or just as much work on school draft laws like the AfD.
Of course, we have only looked at the quantitative part here.
The qualitative part, i.e. how much content is in the respective draft laws, is on another paper.
However, the concrete demands of the AfD as draft laws are limited to the fact that you want less digitization and fewer students in the classes who speak too bad German.
Third, electoral districts. Let's get to the electoral districts, because according to Höcke, almost all of Thuringia, according to prognoses, should already be chosen by the majority of the AfD, i.e. blue.
Almost all electoral districts.
The electoral district map in Thuringia is almost completely blue.
There are only a few other colors that still dominate Thuringia. In the far north-western areas, in the area of Eichsfeld, this is true.
In fact, Höcke was not quite right here. Because what prognoses does he mean here? The second vote or the first vote?
Yes, as you can see here, the AfD clearly leads the parties in Thuringia in various second-vote prognoses.
But there is no prognosis of how the individual electoral districts in Thuringia would vote in the second vote.
And on the other hand, there are extremely few, at least as far as I have researched, actually even only one election prognosis for the first vote and then also for the electoral districts,
which apparently shows that a lot of direct mandates would go directly to the AfD.
But only 904 people took part in this survey in all of Thuringia.
Yes, it is stated that this study or this survey should be representative.
But there is no other institute that has made a prognosis for the electoral districts for the first vote in Thuringia.
That means you can't really compare that.
In addition, we do not know whether this representativeness refers exclusively to the entire state of Thuringia
or whether every single electoral district was considered representative.
So it's not a lie per se when it comes to this survey.
But what was said there, as I said, you have to enjoy with caution.
And last but not least, I also want to clarify this here.
So we have already established education policy as a central field of our political actions in parliament since 2014.
For example, we have already in 2014, and I mean, I even had the speech back then,
because I was a spokesman for education policy at the time,
pointed out the need for the introduction of school administration assistants.
I said back then that the teachers have to be relieved of administrative duties,
the school board has to be relieved of administrative duties,
so that they can concentrate on their core tasks again,
namely the dissemination of education, of knowledge, of material.
This is an idea that we as the AfD have had and introduced.
I love it when politicians claim that they would have been at something with their party or just a spokesman.
Here Höcke claims that the AfD would have been the one who came up with the idea of school administration assistants.
Is that true at all? Short answer, no, that's not true.
The term school administration assistant has been around since the mid-00s.
At the end of the 00s, there was even a pilot project in North Rhine-Westphalia,
where such assistants were used to improve school quality.
And the 2011 final report also states that the impact was an improvement in school quality.
Yes, it is true that Thüringen only tested these helping hands in schools in 2022.
But it was certainly not an AfD idea at first, because the idea is much older than the AfD itself.
So far the facts, so far the facts.
Thank you for watching, your Marvin and see you next time.
