Yes, how nice that you are back today. Today it is about a topical topic and that is the beige
fat tissue. I don't know if you've heard of it before. So I know that
hardly anyone has heard of it so far. No wonder, it is not yet
known for that long. Okay, before we start, of course, I'm happy if you subscribe to my channel
and if you also give me your thumbs up and of course also if you write down below
how you found the whole topic and whether you are interested in brand new things.
So, let's get started. First of all, for a better understanding. There are different colors of
fat tissue. White fat. Under this name, the fat that the body has for emergencies
, so it's there on the stomach, on the thighs, whatever, to have a reserve for times
when it can't find food. To be honest, these emergencies don't exist today, at least
not in the prosperous countries. On the contrary, we live in absolute abundance today
and therefore we carry this fat as an overweight with far too many kilos around us.
By the way, this is often the cause, i.e. this fat, for the development of
diseases of civilization such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases,
immune and cancer diseases. But maybe you've already heard of brown fat.
The main task of this brown fat is, by the way, the production of body heat,
i.e. the retention of constant body temperature. For babies, this brown fat is absolutely
necessary for survival, because these babies are not able to generate heat, like us adults,
when they shiver in the cold. And that is why the fat tissue of these smallest
people is at least 5% of their total weight. An adult, on the other hand, who can maintain
the body temperature for a certain time when shivering in the cold, only has about 50 grams
of this brown fat. And now comes the new thing. About 10 years ago, a new
variant of fat tissue was discovered. The so-called beige fat tissue. A first
publication on this topic took place in 2012 in a renowned specialist journal by
scientists at Harvard University. I have linked this source to you below the video.
Since then, by the way, there has been a lot of research and the results are exciting. Exciting
because they are important for our health. These beige fat cells are made up of the
white fat tissue and can be converted into brown fat tissue. As it seems to me,
it could be an intermediate stage to brown fat tissue, so that this type of cell has
probably always existed, but somehow, for some reason, it has always been overlooked.
Especially since these beige fat cells are stored in the white fat tissue. But what is
so special about this beige fat tissue and why am I making a video about it now?
If it were just a transitional tissue, it would probably be pretty boring. But the more
we have of this type of fat, the better it is for our health. Just like brown
fat tissue, these beige fat cells produce body heat by generating energy for the proper
maintenance of body temperature. But there are essential distinguishing
features and we will take a look at them now. For the metabolism of these beige fat cells,
more calories are burned due to the higher number of mitochondria, which are our body's own
cell power plants, than in the white and brown fat tissue. So that means we
consume more calories. On the other hand, a process of transformation of the less wanted
white fat cells into the desired beige fat cells and then into the brown fat cells takes place.
And that is probably also the reason why so much research is being done, because our immune system,
i.e. our defense system, is thus driven up. Because the body mainly needs two stimuli for this,
namely that of muscle training, i.e. nothing other than movement, and that of cold stimuli.
Because in these two situations, a newly discovered special hormone called
methorin-like is formed. And that makes white fat tissue super, super exciting and interesting,
so-called eating cells. And eating cells are very important components of our immune system.
Eating cells are cells. You can really imagine that if something in our body is
not okay, these eating cells go there, encompass this component that is not okay
and eat it up and destroy it. That's why this term is so great and that's why it's so wonderful
that we can actually produce more of these eating cells through this beige fat tissue.
And the increase in this hormone level, on the one hand, also stimulates energy consumption,
i.e. more calories are consumed and at the same time improves blood sugar tolerance.
It also prevents the development of diabetes and, on the other hand, it supports the activity of certain genes,
we already know that, which are associated with inflammatory substances.
My goodness, isn't that great? In plain language, it means to get rid of the cold in the form of cold showers,
to use a cold pool after the sauna and not overheat the rooms at home and move regularly.
All of this promotes the production of this fat tissue, this beige fat tissue.
And all of this strengthens your defense, makes it more efficient and also helps you to maintain or achieve
an optimal weight. And your health is of course at the forefront of the whole thing.
I am always happy when such observations are scientifically proven and, above all,
this allows us to better understand what is actually happening in our body.
Yes, I hope you enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to the next time you're back.
And if you still want to see more of my other videos, you can do that here.
All the love! Maybe you now want to turn your fat cells into beige. Have fun! Ciao!
