Hello, this is Dirk from Ammerland. Today we show you the work steps that have to be done before the milking. First, we drain the water. And we do the same again down in the milking stand. The water level needs about 160 liters for one wash after the milking. 40 liters for pre-washing and 40 liters for the main wash. Then we have to rinse twice, 40 liters each, so that there are no residues in the milk. Then I go on to the milking stand and drain the water there. Now I remove the filter from the previous milking. We leave it in the sink because the milk runs through a plate cooler where it is pre-cooled. So that it doesn't get dirty, it stays in there. After milking, it is renewed. I close the water drain, which is very important. Next, we moisten the tiles and wet them. When the cows come in and it gets dirty here, the dirt doesn't dry up on the tiles so quickly. And it can be put back in later. Now I have a main care product for the cow's tits. When the tits are finished with milking, the tits are sprayed with it. This disinfects the tits and cleanses the skin. And now we can theoretically start, except for one important point. We still have to hang the hose in the tank. If we didn't do that, we would put all our milk in the trash. And we don't want that either. But first, we put on a shirt and put on milking gloves. You do that because there are too many pathogens on the tits, which would otherwise drag one cow too easily to the next one.
