KuhTuber Amos findet es ungerecht, dass sich die großen Lebensmitteleinzelhändler zu Einkaufsgemeinschaften zusammenschließen. In seinem Beitrag geht er auch auf die Marktstruktur ein. Was ist Eure Meinung dazu? Diskutiert mit uns.

Hello, here I am again, your Amos from East Friesland.
Around mid-July, a major newspaper published a report
that a procedure of the Commission against a large German food retailer has been set up.
It was about competition and competition distortion.
The EU Commission has found that it is positive
when food retailers join shopping communities
because then the consumer gets cheaper prices,
because the diversity on the market increases and so on.
So it has a lot of positive effects.
You have to know that these shopping communities make sales of over 100 billion.
And our German food retailers are also very well organized here.
For me as a farmer, the question really arises,
is there a balance here?
If we want to sell something on the market
and agree with other companies,
for example how much the butter, milk or cheese should cost,
we will get huge problems in terms of cartel law.
Imagine that all companies in Germany,
when it comes to the milk sector, would join forces.
Then they would not even have a turnover of 30 billion.
That is less than the large German retailers already have on their own.
If we really could and should,
then it would go much better for us as market participants,
because then we can negotiate with the companies more at eye level.
At the moment, there are about four food companies,
well, maybe five,
that make more than two thirds of the sales in Germany.
That means the market position is already very impressive.
On the dairy side, there is a ten times larger number of market participants.
That means each individual does not really play a big role.
And right now, where we are again in a situation
where the milk prices are internationally at a five-year low,
it would be of great importance
if we could claim our position on the market through agreements.
So for me, the question really arises,
is measured here with two kinds of measures.
Do such large companies have a different lobby
than, for example, the small milk companies on the market or in politics?
So, I'm looking forward to your reactions
and I'm also looking forward to your comments.
Because for me, it doesn't have much to do with equal opportunities.
Or do you see it differently?
That's all for now.
Your Amos from East Frisia.
