I'm Cody. Hey, I'm Mike. And we're Plans. My first concert was Simple Plan, Bowling
for Soup, and headlining Hilary Duff. It was like one of those radio concerts where they
get a bunch of like whoever's just like on the radio to come in and as a young 13 year
old with a stupid fauxhawk I thought Bowling for Soup and Simple Plan were really sick
so I was obviously very stoked to go. My sister as a young like 18 year old. You liked Hilary
Duff too. Shut up! No! I wanted to leave early but my mom wouldn't let us. Anyway, I went
with my sister so she could see Hilary Duff and I could see Simple Plan and it was sick.
I got a Simple Plan shirt. I was very excited about it. I went to go see the Bare Naked
Ladies in the second grade with my dad. And every time I was at dad's house we'd listen
to Bare Naked Ladies, we had a CD, Greatest Hits, there was one part that it would skip
and he would pound on the CD player to like get it to catch up. And I remember it was
weird because it wasn't what I thought like a rock concert would be. We were at a place
called The Marat. I don't know if that's what it's called anymore or Old National or whatever
it is. But it was in a like seated theater room. So you're like seeing a rock and roll
band but you were like sitting up in the little balcony. And I remember it, the two guys from
the Muppets that would like argue back and forth and they would sit like up in the side.
It was kind of like sitting there. And we're like, oh, I'm one of the Muppet guys. And
it was just awesome. They had like all these extra players and I'm in second grade. I had
no idea what was going on. But I do remember they would stop their set midway and they
would do like a Q&A with the audience. And I think, is that band Canadian? 100%? I thought
so. Because I kind of remember people asking like, kind of asking about like Canada versus
America, what's it like to tour, blah, blah, blah. I remember someone asking, this was
like big when illegal downloading was like a big thing and like artists were struggling
with all of that and like their place in it. And I'll never forget the singer of Bare Naked
Ladies looked at this lady, she was second row, and she said, well, how do you feel about
people stealing music? What does that do to your career? And he said, man, I don't really
care as long as you steal other things that you want. If you see a pair of pants you like,
you go fucking steal those pants. And in the second grade, I was like, that was so
cool. Like he just said, fuck that. That was awesome. And then we went home and I went
to elementary school and I went to a private school. So then I told my teacher that I went
to go see Bare Naked Ladies the night before. With my dad. It was great. We had a parent-teacher
conference about that one. So that was phenomenal. Love that band to this day. My dad took me
to see Bare Naked Ladies last night. Absolutely.
