Hello dear friends on myCOOLtube, this is Helmut again from the most beautiful village on the island in the district of Gifhorn.
As is well known, the harvest time of our corn is of crucial importance for the feeding of our cows.
And it accompanies us all year round.
That is why this harvest time is particularly important.
To do this, I would like to give you an insight into how we determine this harvest time as optimally as possible.
50% of the plant is already producing the cobs alone.
You shouldn't think so.
That is why the ripening time of the cobs is also of crucial importance.
Oops.
And now let's take a closer look at the grains.
I have now broken open the cobs.
And the nail sample shows that the dough has started to ripen.
While the milk is ripening, liquid is still oozing out.
While the dough is ripening, we have a doughy mass here.
And further up is already a floury mass.
The more flour there is, the better the storage of starch.
We want to have as much starch as possible in the entire plant.
And the cobs play a major role in this.
Today we have so-called stay-green varieties.
This means that even if the cobs are already quite wide, the rest of the plants are sometimes still quite green.
The total dry mass of the silage should be between 32 and 35%.
But we would prefer to have 35-36% dry mass.
I will show you why this is the case in a moment.
Because I have another tool to determine the optimal harvest time.
This is a computer program.
Let's go to my office.
Now I would like to introduce you to our computer program, which helps us determine the harvest time.
This silage is overflowed every two to four days from the satellite.
Here we see an average dry substance content of 32%.
And here we also see that this silage was overflowed two days ago.
Here we can see the grain formation again, as we saw earlier on the silage.
Dark yellow is the outer surrounding of the grain.
Towards the inside it becomes lighter.
The storage of starch is therefore largely completed here and continues to progress.
And down here we can see the optimal harvest time window, which is specified here with 32% dry mass.
Accordingly, we are now in the optimal range.
But I have already mentioned that we prefer to achieve 35% dry mass.
Let's go one step further.
So 34% goes up to September 25th.
And then we should theoretically have a total of 35% dry mass in the plant.
So that would be the optimal harvest time for us.
I hope that we will actually achieve this time.
And that the contractor, which is of course an important point, has time that day.
And of course I have already ordered it.
And now we hope for a good harvest and good yields.
Whereby the yield here has already been determined by this program.
And we are supposed to harvest over 50 tons per hectare of fresh mass.
But that would go too far to imagine that now.
And with this good hope I say goodbye again for today.
Until next time.
