There have been some pretty serious shifts within the parties of both the Republicans and the Democrats. Many Bush-era Republicans have been labeled RINOs. Supporters of former President Donald Trump are the MAGA party. We’ve seen the rise of the Freedom Caucus. For Democrats, there’s The Squad. There are socialists, environmentalists, grassroots activists, and an increasingly sidelined group of moderates who believe the party is leaving them behind.
As this takes place, we now see the rise of the No Labels Party, and the real possibility that a third party, or even an independent candidate, could shake up the 2024 elections. Here to speak with us about this is Roger Simon. He’s an Oscar-nominated screenwriter and editor-at-large at The Epoch Times.

Now in other news, the rise of third parties
could shake up the political establishment.
We'll talk about this more after the break.
Welcome back.
There have been some pretty serious shifts
within the parties of both the Republicans
and the Democrats.
Look, many Bush era Republicans,
they've been labeled rhinos,
Trump supporters of the MAGA party.
We've seen the rise of the Freedom Caucus.
For Democrats, there's the Squad.
There are the socialists, the environmentalists,
the grassroots activists,
and also an increasingly sidelined groups of moderates
who believe the party's leaving them behind.
Now, as this takes place,
we now see the rise of the No Labels Party,
and really, the real possibility that a third party
or even an independent candidate
could really shake up the 2024 elections.
Here to speak to us about all of it is Roger Simon.
He's an Oscar-nominated screenwriter
and editor at large at the Epoch Times.
Hey, Roger Simon, thanks for being on Crossroads.
Always great to be here, Josh.
Hey, so Roger, first off, the No Labels Party,
they're gonna announce the nominee in April.
I mean, any idea who that's gonna be?
They're talking about Manchin, Realistic,
what do you think?
Yeah, and Jon Huntsman for VP,
someone who certainly believes in global warming
and might as well be a Republican.
But, I'd rather a Democrat.
But, you know, I had dealings with,
you know, No Labels has been around for years.
It's not a new thing.
I mean, I remember dealing with them
when I was working at PJ Media years and years ago,
and the guys who were,
they said they were No Labels later turned up
on MSNBC as spokespeople.
So, they're not exactly what they say they are.
If you're looking for even Steven, they're not that.
On the other hand-
I think it's pretty clear they're technically Democrats.
But, I think that's the real threat they pose
to the Democrat Party is they're trying to capture
the moderates.
I mean, do you think it's possible for them to do that?
Yes.
I mean, you know, they've got the moderate of moderates,
Joe Lieberman behind the curtain there,
who is actually at Yale the same time I was there.
And Joe Lieberman as an undergraduate
is exactly the same as Joe Lieberman today.
This man has not changed a bit.
He's down the middle, and he always was.
He's funny.
But, you know, I think that it's a real thing,
and they could probably,
I think there'll be blood in the streets
if they try to do it.
I think there's gonna be, you know,
as if we don't have enough lawfare in our society,
there's gonna be more lawfare coming up
to do with these guys.
Yeah, well, maybe they'll weaponize the IRS against him,
like we saw at the Tea Party, right?
Shh, they'll get the IRS too.
You know, I mean, on that note, though, with the DNC,
I mean, look, RFK Jr., he's what, like 12.8%,
something like that, in terms of the polls against Biden?
I mean, he's-
He's gone down, actually, from when he first started,
which is weird to me.
I mean, you know, we had him as a guest
on the rollercoaster.
I thought he was very articulate, you know,
within his voice issue, but I just, I don't know,
I don't get it.
I mean, they really bad-mouthed him in the liberal media.
Well, I mean, it looks like, it looks like he's campaigning.
He, you know, based on earlier polling,
it looked like they were suggesting
he actually would have a shot against Trump,
at least, you know, based on some polls,
and of course, polls, I guess you can say
they can say anything you want them to say.
Yeah, yeah.
But he actually seems like he could capture
a lot of the moderates,
and it looks like the Democrats are not even,
they're not even gonna give him a shot,
at least the way things are looking right now.
That being said, I mean, unless Biden decides
to not run and they do have to have an actual,
you know, election for who's the nominee.
Do you think there's any chance RFK Jr. would run?
Is it independent or with a third party?
As a no-label guy, I think anything's possible.
I don't think he can win the election that way,
given the way the electorate responds to him,
which is baffling to me,
because I like it better than they do,
but he could definitely be a spoiler.
I think we're in for a dozen surprises coming in,
because I don't think Biden's gonna run.
I just don't think it's possible.
I don't think the Democrats want him to,
to be honest, at this point.
I personally, I think they either want Newsom
or they want Michelle Obama,
and especially Michelle Obama,
because that actually, that secretly means
that Barack Obama's gonna-
You must've read my column this morning,
because my column in the Epoch Times this morning
says it's Michelle in the wings.
Well, tell us about that then.
I mean, why do you say that?
Well, I particularly wrote it,
because I'm a tennis fanatic,
and the U.S. Open is on right now,
and they had a big ceremony last night
for Billie Jean King,
50 years of women's equality in tennis, et cetera.
And they kept saying,
there's gonna be a secret speaker.
Just wait, you're all gonna be excited.
The commentators were going on and on
during the other ratchets.
And lo and hold, who was the secret speaker?
Michelle Obama, in front of the 25,000 fans
at Arthur Ashe Stadium,
the biggest tennis stadium in the world.
And more than that,
that's because that's not that many people
by Trumpian numbers, but it's big numbers.
The people in the audience at the U.S. Open in New York,
in the box seats, in the fancy sections,
you've got a great crossover of rich Democrats.
I mean, they go to that event.
I mean, I've sat near them,
and I don't get into fights,
but they're there.
I know who's there.
I mean, it's very clear.
And the fact that she emerged to do this,
I don't think it was accidental.
That makes sense.
Well, and people are also pointing to Gavin Newsom,
some of his media appearances,
some of what he's posting on Twitter,
you know, I guess, X now.
It looks like Gavin Newsom,
the way he's talking now is no longer like,
you know, Governor Gavin Newsom.
It looks like he's trying to actually present himself
as like a real contender for president.
And he's trying to be,
it looks like a little less partisan.
And people are pointing this out that,
hey, is he going to run too?
It looks like the writing's on the wall with him.
I think so.
But you know, he's still got,
he's got, he's one of those guys who's dragging
a big bunch of tin cans behind him, you know?
The tin cans, he's driving.
Yeah, it's California.
You mean the wreckage of California?
Yeah, the wreckage of California.
If I were one of the marketers making commercials against him
I'd show a line of homeless people and people,
and then him having dinner at the French Laundry
with his cronies without a mask.
That's right, when everybody else was locked down,
he says, well, those rules are for everyone else.
For the peons, not for you.
Well, that's true too,
that the hit pieces and the campaign ads against him
would definitely probably be a lot stronger
than what they could do against Michelle Obama.
But, you know, if, for example, that does happen
and you have to have an actual election
of the nominee for the Democrats,
do you think they'd even let RFK Jr. in there?
How do you see that unfolding?
You mean an actual primary?
Yeah, like an actual primary.
Well, I think in certain instances
they're going to have to let him in there,
but I don't, they don't seem to want to vote for him.
That's the real, I mean, that's the bottom line.
I mean, you can be, I think they'll be more willing
to let him on because he's not doing all that great
in the polls.
