One source has told us here at Sky Sports News that Moises Caicedo has rejected the chance to
join Liverpool. We are at the moment awaiting confirmation from both clubs but it is understood
that his preferred destination is Chelsea. So confirmation there, one source has told us that
Moises Caicedo has rejected the chance to join Liverpool. Just want to bring you something that
Fabrizio Romano has tweeted in the last few moments as well. He has said that Caicedo has
decided to keep his word and only accept Chelsea as personal terms were agreed since the end of May
and Fabrizio Romano has also said that Chelsea are set to bid again in order to get a deal done
with Brighton. As a Chelsea fan, music to your ears. Wow, yeah I mean I feel like I've lived
about three lifetimes in the past like four hours. It is incredible, fair play to him. I think the
thing is with football nowadays like he's not a Chelsea player yet to have that kind of loyalty
already is speaks volumes I think to be honest. To have been dealing with obviously Chelsea over
the past couple of months as he has done and feels like he's already given his word to them to reject
a move where he's been bidded, Liverpool bidded £111 million for him. For Klopp to come out on
that interview earlier and say obviously that we have an agreement between clubs it felt that he
must have or Liverpool must have felt like they had some sort of agreement there. Yeah it is quite
mega, it's quite like yeah breaking my head. I know I know but I mean for us it's like Brighton had this
deadline of midnight last night and it was effectively an auction. The highest bidder
who met the valuation was going to get Moises Caicedo, that was Liverpool. Absolutely but I still
wouldn't be surprised if Brighton still stay firm on that price. Now it's good that Moises, it's
good for Moises Caicedo that he he wants to join Chelsea and it's good for Chelsea fans now to see
that that reverse in action and not so good for Liverpool fans. I understand that but Moises
Caicedo is going to have to say to Chelsea you know what Brighton are about here. You're still
going to have to bid what they just accepted for from Liverpool because Brighton aren't going to
soften their stance just because Moises Caicedo says I don't want to go there but I do want to go here.
Can you accept a bid that's of less money? Brighton are still going to be Brighton. He's done essentially
everything he can possibly do in this situation now. I mean to come out and kind of say to people
that you know what this is the only club I'm going to join now has put himself in an
awkward situation for one but one where Chelsea's really the only landing spot he can go to
and so yeah it's quite incredible. From a Liverpool perspective.
The fact that we've even had Jurgen Klopp come out in his news conference earlier and say yes look
a deal is in place we have agreed to deal with Brighton. There was a degree of scepticism I
thought when he was speaking about the deal between the two clubs because he did still acknowledge of
course that the personal things and what's really interesting for me is the power dynamics in all
of this like Brighton obviously accepted the bid they said the deadline is midnight last night
whoever comes in with the biggest bid will basically get the player. Liverpool have done that
but now the player is pulling back the power dynamics he's taking back the control into his
hands and saying look I had those personal terms with Chelsea that was my destination of choice
although a little bit strange because there was obviously that Arsenal dynamic in January as well
so that was another club that's being brought into the mix. I wonder now what the next step is because
Chelsea are going to have to at least match what Liverpool got because otherwise Brighton are going
to say well I'm not we can't let you go you're still our player at the moment so we're going to
accept what we feel is the right value for you if Chelsea aren't willing to match that does he have
to then change and go to Liverpool would Liverpool then accept that and and Liverpool as a club want
a player to come to them who has basically openly said according to these reports that he doesn't
want to go to Liverpool it's a really interesting power dynamic now and it's going to shift all the
time. Even the the knock-on effect for Liverpool as well now they have showcased every club out there
that they have 111 million Southampton are going to be going you've got that two million more
that deal and now if they come back for Romeo Lafayette they'll say well we know what you've
just bidded for Caicedo here let's let's talk again. It was a huge surprise I think as well
for Liverpool fans and people covering Liverpool that they did put in this this degree and this
level of offer because there's been so many conversations around the ownership and the
financial constraints and all these issues so for them to put in a bid a record-breaking bid
potentially was a massive shock and now they've got this money clearly to spend on this midfield
rebuild they want to continue to invest it in midfield so if this doesn't go through with the
backup plans is it Lafayette and then do they then get pressured as well to be Lafayette plus one
because the money's there and it's available it's going to be very interesting for both clubs I
think and how this plays out. Those two clubs what about Brighton because surely they just
they kind of thought the negotiations were done. They did but I just like I said earlier with
Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club a full name only but still put respect on them because
I have maximum faith yeah as a neutral um that no problem like there is a bit of an issue there
because Moises has decided to do this but that we're not going to succumb to that just because
he we put our foot down with Arsenal no problem made him sign a new deal that's why he's even
worth what he's worth now because that happened and we're not moving he's not leaving Brighton
and Hove Albion Football Club for the price that we don't deem um to be fit and that's just where
that's what they're going to do there's no way they're going to move on that. Well they're such
tough negotiators now as well they've shown case to so many different clubs they've dealt with that
you are going to pay the fee that we want it's not the other way around here and otherwise we're more
than happy to keep these players and it makes sense obviously when Kaiser first moved to Brighton
he was linked to Manchester United at one point um but for these players they are being like it
makes so much sense as why they would go to Brighton before this huge move because they can
guarantee game time they can guarantee development and they can guarantee working under a manager at
the moment in Deserby who is one of the best in the league and incredible when he's getting the
plaudits that he does from Pep Guardiola um he really is somebody that looks really really special
so it makes sense why all these guys will go there and know for the fact as well they'll then move
for a big fee later on I mean Brighton out of everybody Brighton are the biggest winners
all the time they always are regardless of this saga and how it plays out
