Manchester United, I was just reading an email from you Carvey, could face competition from
Paris Saint-Germain for Rasmus Hoyland, which will be a blow to them, but they do remain
confident of doing a deal for the Atalanta strike, and this is what Eric ten Haag had
to say last night when he was asked about the pursuit of Hoyland.
Absolutely. Two things, the pressing can be better from the start, and scoring goals,
and I think we need more players who are capable to be in the one-on-ones, and we had the
situations one-on-ones. It's always difficult to say, it's like looking in, but we are working
24-7. We do, and everyone, not everyone, but a lot in the club, give all the power to get this done.
Right, Carvey, Man United fans will be worried about this one, they've desperately needed a
striker, Hoyland seemed to be the man after their hopes of signing Kane disappeared, but
Paris Saint-Germain suddenly with a firm interest, what's happening?
Yeah, this was a story that was first reported in Equipe in France this morning, and PSG have
made an offer to Atalanta for the player. The offer is 50 million euros, which is about
43 million pounds, and significantly it's a take-it-or-leave-it offer. PSG are saying,
this is what we believe the player is worth, we're not going to increase that. I think
the problem is Atalanta want around 70 million euros. Now, Manchester United have been in
talks for quite a while to try and sign the player, there was a report in The Athletic
yesterday, I think, that United had made a verbal offer of 50 million euros plus 10
million euros in potential add-ons, so 10 million more than PSG have put on the table.
And I also think that the player may be more tempted by the move to Manchester United than
PSG, and I think United, I just get the sense, are growing quietly confident, hopeful maybe
that a deal could be done for the player before the season starts.
Right, okay, so Manchester United still in the driving seat we think, but Paris Saint-Germain?
I think Manchester United have got that room to be able to offer more, and what we're hearing
from PSG is this is a take-it-or-leave-it offer, we'll walk away if it's not accepted,
and they're waiting for a response from Atalanta.
Lovely. Carvey, thanks so much, I'll speak to you again soon.
