The Bridges at Bathurst: Transforming the Streetcar Project with Realistic Roads and Bridges
In this episode, I'll take you along as I work on transforming the Streetcar Project into a more polished scene. First, I experimented with painting techniques by constructing a test piece—an angled roadway representing York Street by Union Station.
After that, I moved on to building two bridges—the Bathurst Bridge and the Spadina Bridge. I used a laser cutter and dollar store dowels to create each bridge's piers and concrete supports. Once those were in place, I added railings, gave the structures a weathered look, and even added some graffiti for authenticity.
Next up was the design and 3D printing process for the Bathurst Bridge. I carefully assembled all the parts to create a stylized bridge replica. Once it was complete, I painted and weathered the tracks, added ballast and ground cover, and put the finishing touches on the surrounding scenery. I installed hand railings, street lights, and plate girders to truly bring the scene to life.
