Florio never mentioned Shakespeare in his works and we don’t have Shakespeare’s documents or letters in which he mentions John Florio. So there is no document that proves Florio and Shakespeare were, ever, in the same room. But we can suppose that they, at least, knew each other. Why?

1. They had the same patrons: The first patron they had in common was Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester.
2. Florio and Shakespeare also shared their second patron: Henry Wriothesley.
3. John Florio and Shakespeare also shared the third patron: William Herbert, 3rd Earl of Pembroke.
4. Shakespeare and Florio also had many friends in common: Ben Jonson, Samuel Daniel, Edward Blount, Martin Droeshout, Philip Sidney, Edmund Spencer, Giordano Bruno, Vincentio Saviolo, Earl of essex.
5. Shakespeare and Florio also had some enemies in common: Thomas Nashe and Robert Greene.
6. Shakespeare and Florio also shared the same rank of groom of the privy chamber.
