So I'm excited to be here. We're in the Central Coast and I came upon the greatest music shop ever.
I'm Pat Patterson and I love California. In Central Coast music, I'm here with owner Eddie
Frawley. And Eddie, this is a great store. Thank you so much. I have a lot of fun doing it. Yeah.
And how long have you been doing it? This is my 33rd year. 33 years. And who are you catering
to this? It looks like rock and blues. Just about anybody that's into music. You know,
I just want to want to help them find what they're looking for to play some music. Yeah. And a lot of
classic rock references in there. Yeah. Yeah. And let's put the skeletons in the window. Oh,
I just got into the pirate thing years and years ago. People actually bring me skeletons and skulls
and stuff. So that is so awesome. Yeah. And you play yourself. I play in a local band here called
the Murder Hornets. The Murder Hornets. There you go. And with some local friends of mine,
we just have a ball. That's awesome. It's like a big family of people. Everybody,
everybody looks out for each other. There's a history with this building. Tell me about that.
Yeah, it was built in 1904. And it was a vaudeville theater at first. That's why we
have the stage in there. And after that, it was a silent picture theater. The Bay Theater is right
across the way. So it must have come later. It was before that before the Bay Theater. Yeah.
So what we're going to do next, we're going to go inside and take a look around the store.
So let's take a look. Let's go. Oh, wow. Look at this place. I like anything musical. And the
weirder the better. You know, I get all kinds of crazy stuff in here. And that's kind of what's
fun for the people that do come in a lot. It's because they know I'm always getting weird stuff.
I've got a mix of mostly the electric guitars over here. And they're new and used.
Right. So we're always getting different stuff. And there's a pretty nutty bass that we got in
here. That's like a one of a kind. It's actually called tough shit. Number one.
Made up in Monterey, California. One of a kind, I believe. That's the kind of stuff I love to get
in here. Stuff you can't go get. And your dad was a pawn shop owner. So this is in your DNA.
Yeah, he opened up our pawn shop. And once I got into music, I would come in after school to work.
And I could just smell it. If you got in a wah-wah pedal or a guitar or something,
I'd find it immediately. Yeah. And as a part of Central Coast Music is Curtis Miller. And Curtis,
give me the name of your business again. In the Groove Records. In the Groove Records. And I'm
telling you, the collection he has here at Central Coast Music. In junior high, we used to all go
down to Canterbury Records. Oh, I know Canterbury there in Colorado. Lake in Colorado. Yeah. They
had a little listening booth. It's still there. And I actually got my first drum set when I was
sixth grade. Right when the Beatles came out. We all wanted to be a Beatle. So all of a sudden,
it was like Ringo. You know, I want to be Ringo. And speaking of Ringo, I got to grab the
Robert Ferguson shelf here. Original, mono, meet the Beatles. You know, all the Beatles stuff's
pretty collectible, you know. The people actually play these. Oh, are you kidding? Yeah. That's the
whole point, right? That's the whole point. I had a store down the road a ways, and we collaborated
by asking, like, hey, how about we collaborate and make the store kind of a full service music
store? And when you come here to the Central Coast, you've got to stop by. This might be gone. I got
my eye on this one. Yeah. Curtis, thank you so much. I see a customer here. In the Groove MB is
the website. So you do an online business? A little bit. Yeah. Yeah. Just check it out. I'd
love to hear from anybody who wants to reach out and be sure to come see us. So tell me about why
we have a giant Gumby? Well, it came here from the Cayuca Surf Club about 20 years ago. Because
Art Colopy, the guy that came up with Gumby in the first place, eight or nine years ago,
he came in here and autographed his foot. Oh, my God. That is so incredible. I'm a Gumby fan.
This stage right here that we're standing on looking at right now, who knows who was here,
right? A live bill performer. Yeah. 1905, this would have been a regular circuit coming up from
Los Angeles. Yeah. And then on the outside of the building, they had screw-in light bulbs that went
all the way around the top. So a whole marquee. That was the marquee. Yeah. Before they had
floodlights. And I see that would have been either for lights, and then eventually the
projection. Right, right. Well, let's go back out to the front. Okay.
So that's our look at the incredible Central Coast Music. Thank you so much,
owner Eddie Frawley. Well, thank you for having us on your show. It's a big deal to us. Well,
we love to support local California businesses. So you're our sweet spot. There's a bunch of
good ones around here. I tell you, it's a beautiful area to be. Yeah, well, we love
Morro Bay. Yeah, me too. So Jessamyn is going to sing us out on our Central Coast Music
Odyssey. So what are you going to play a little bit? I'm just going to play a part of my song
here. It's not just anything.
And don't you say I never gave you nothing. It's all here.
