Have a day, Shohei! Shohei Ohtani ties his career high with 13 strikeouts!

Nice hand for Shohei Ohtani, mentioned it in the open. It was an hour or two ago it feels like. As Ohtani swings at the first pitch and bounces a base hit into right field. But this is the first time pitching here in St. Louis for Shohei Ohtani. As Shohei takes the mound here at Bush Stadium for the first time. Swing and a miss. Ohtani strikes out his new best bud. Nupar goes down for the first down. But he chases that for strike three. It was a 98-mile-an-hour fastball that ran away. That was with his shoelaces untied. Ohtani tying his cleats after striking out Goldschmidt. Two sinkers and then a four-seam fastball. Matt Moore, yeah, there you go with that swing and miss. Was not real happy with him. After all that, he strikes him out. What happens now on this 3-2 pitch. It's the fastball and it's in there. Strike three called. It was 99 and that's where he was looking for the sweeper. There's a swing and a miss for strike three. 99 upstairs and Donovan punches out. Back-to-back K's for Ohtani. Swing and a miss. Edmond strikes out. And Shohei Ohtani, after an error in two wild pitches, strikes out three in a row to win the inning. Long look in. This is going to be close. Barely got it in there. Hard hit into right field. A base hit. The Angels take the lead as Wallach scores. The ball mishandled by Nupar and right as Trapp goes to third. And it's an RBI single for the starting pitcher. Shohei Ohtani's two for two. And the Angels have a 2-1 lead. Nupar strikes out. That is seven strikeouts for Shohei Ohtani. And a slider erases Burleson. Nine strikeouts for Ohtani, who's high as 13 in his career. Rear back gets 100 on that fastball. Lars Nupar strikes out to start the fifth. And that is the 11th punchout for Shohei Ohtani tonight. And now Paul Goldschmidt strikes out. Another fastball he struck out. Goldschmidt, who's a very good fastball hitter. One strike away from his 500th strikeout. Check swing. And it's strike three for the 13th strikeout tonight. Shohei Ohtani has tied his career high. Now Ohtani drills one to the gap and lifts center field. That's going to get down for extra bases. Bouncing off the wall, it's a double for Shohei. And the Angels are roasting Gallegos here in the ninth. We'll be right back.
