Josep Fàbrega
(c.1740 - Barcelona, April 1791)
Catalan violinist and composer. He played an important role in the early stages of the symphonic movement in Catalonia. In 1768 he was active as a violinist in Barcelona, and we may assume that he continued to live there until his death, which took place some time before April 1791. His orchestral works, the earliest of which are found in a manuscript dated 1758, include three symphonies (one in C major and two in D major) and five overtures (one in D major, one in E flat major and three in G major). His symphonic style fits perfectly within the italian roots of the classicism: works in three movements the second frecuently in a minor key, a gallant style, omnipresence of sonata scheme in the fast movements and use of the binay form in the central parts. #ClassicalMusic
