Anne De Beaujeu - Supporter of Henry VII's Battle Against Richard III: Anne of France, also known as Anne de Beaujeu or Anne de Bourbon was born in April 1461 in Genappe, Belgium and died on November 14, 1522 in Chantelle. She was a princess and regent of the kingdom of France.
Anne was the eldest daughter of King Louis XI and Charlotte of Savoy, she is also the sister of King Charles VIII of France, on whose behalf she assumed the de facto regency when he was a minor from 1483 to 1491. During this period, she was considered one of the most powerful women in Europe at the end of the 15th century and was nicknamed “Madame la Grande”.
Between 1503 and 1521, she was also regent of the Duchy of Bourbon during the reign of her daughter Suzanne, the Duchess of Bourbon.
She is the last representative of the direct Valois.
