Fairfield, Arizona State tied at six in the top of the six.
This happened a little bit ago, but I think I was on vacation when it did.
Got to talk about it because you're never going to see something like this again.
And if you do, you'll be like, man, you know what?
I've seen that before and act all snotty about it.
That dude hits that ball in the center field.
Center fielder tries to make a diving catch, misses it,
and then the ball bounces up and knocks his glasses right off his face.
That's not a fun time.
But now Arizona has two runners on
and the very next pitch is going to get past the catcher's glove,
maybe a cross up, and now they can't find it.
Where'd it go?
Hello, Paul.
And the ump now says, I think I've got it.
I think I know what happened.
And the batter says, it's in your pocket.
I know. Hold on. Stay still.
OK, that runner is going to score and you're going to move to third.
And everyone's like, what? Why?
Why would that be the case?
And the coach is like, what happened?
What happened?
He says, you're never going to believe this.
I got a little magic trick to show you.
Voila. Ball was in my pocket.
And then he does an out call.
I don't know what that means.
But look at this.
Cross up past the glove directly into the pocket.
I don't even understand any of it.
I don't understand the science of this.
I guess it hits his chest protector so hard that it opens up the spot
and then goes right into the pocket and then ump interference
means that the runners advance a base.
But, you know, if he didn't go in his pocket,
it would just fell at their feet and the runners probably wouldn't have advanced.
Right. But if he wasn't there at all, it would have went all the way back
to the screen and the runners would have advanced.
I don't know. The rules say they advance.
I checked. I looked at it.
But you're just never going to see this again.
The good news is this didn't ruin the game for Fairfield.
They came back and won.
The other good news is Fairfield won 28 games in a row this year.
Isn't that crazy?
I think they lost this.
But shout out Jason Hebner. What up, Jason?
Ump stealing the ball in his pocket.
You know what? I think the ump needed to be more excited about it.
I know he's trying to play it cool once he finds it at some point
because he puts up his hands right here.
So at this point, he knows it's in his pocket.
He gave no indication of knowing beforehand.
Like he should have made some sort of like, oh, wow.
Nothing. He didn't even check.
How do you know it was in his pocket?
Makes me think that he was fake looking around for it to duke out the catcher.
He doesn't even look at his own pocket or feel it or anything,
but somehow he's like, yep, it's in my pocket.
I don't know. All of a sudden, I find it sketchy.
No, it's awesome. It's weird. It's wild.
It's cool. Weird, wild and cool.
