Wuhan mass protest against medical benefits cuts, Feb.8

Tens of thousands of seniors in Wuhan rallied against the steep cuts in medical subsidies. Wuhan city authorities introduced a new health insurance policy on Feb. 1, reducing the monthly medical subsidy of 260 yuan given by the state to retired seniors to 83 yuan. The figure is equivalent to about 12 dollars, less than a third of the original amount.
