Hey my munchies!
Welcome to the channel if you're new.
I am Alyssia and today is a very special episode because I have my good friend, Sarah Lynn
here.
Hi Sarah Lynn!
I'm so excited to have you.
So much fun.
I know.
We have a blast.
And a lot of you guys probably already know Sarah Lynn.
Her channel is The Domestic Geek.
We have collabed like two, three, four times.
I can't even remember.
We've done so many collabs.
But you guys always ask for more.
Today is a very special episode.
We are going to be doing what we do best.
Yes.
Absolutely.
We're making some bowls.
We are making power bowls.
We are.
And we're going to actually share Sarah Lynn's recipes on my channel and then after this
you can head over to her channel, youtube.com slash thedomesticgeek1 and check out my recipes
over there.
If you don't know, Sarah Lynn on her channel, The Domestic Geek, shares tons of cooking
recipes.
A lot of them are healthy.
Some are a little more indulgent.
It is true because I am all about balance.
She's got a good balance on her channel.
Let's get to the bowls.
Yes.
So Sarah Lynn, tell me about the three bowls you're going to make for me today.
I am so super excited to share these.
Now speaking of breakfast, lunch, and dinner, these are inspired by those three meals.
Perfect.
So I have an incredible, delicious, tropical breakfast bowl that I am just loving right
now.
I'm obsessed with.
It's full of gorgeous tropical fruit.
I am also making a salmon, spinach, and strawberry lunch bowl, which is basically like taking
a spinach salad but putting it on steroids because you and I do not enjoy salad as a
general rule.
I'm not a salad gal.
It's one of the things that she and I have bonded over from the very beginning of our
relationship.
We're like salads.
We never eat salad actually except for when we do these collabs.
It's true.
But this is like, this salad eats like a meal, not a salad, which is why I am happy to call
it a power bowl, not a salad.
And then the final one is a really, really super tasty, super green, crunchy bowl that
I love.
It's really herbaceous.
It's made with some tasty quinoa and all sorts of green vegetables.
It's green.
It's lean.
I love it.
It's the green lean bowl.
Oh yes.
No, it's the lean green bowl.
Lean green.
That's what it was.
The green lean.
It's the green lean green.
It's the green lean lean green.
Say that four times fast.
What are the ingredients we're going to need for your breakfast bowl?
All right.
So for this breakfast bowl, it all starts with some yogurt.
Now you have lots of options.
You can use vegan coconut yogurt.
That's what I'm using today.
But you could also do this with some regular vanilla flavored yogurt would be tasty.
Greek yogurt would work really well.
And if you are not into yogurt, you could do this with some oatmeal.
Yeah.
I think.
Or you could do it with cottage cheese.
You could do it, you know.
Cottage cheese would be a great option.
Cottage cheese and tropical fruit.
Yeah.
Super, super great.
And then for our fruit, we have some banana, some pineapple, some mango.
And then we've got some granola.
I'm using ginger flavored granola and some coconut chips, which I absolutely love.
I'm topping it all off.
Just remember the last collab where we discovered coconut chips from a smoothie bowl you did.
And we ate like a huge, that's all we ate all day.
We actually devoured two or three bags.
Yeah.
And since then, we've discovered every flavor of coconut chip you can imagine.
Sriracha.
And there's also a wasabi flavored coconut chip that is one of my favorites.
I don't know if I can handle that.
After the coconut chips, we've got some chia seeds and then a little freshly grated ginger.
Because I love ginger with all that tropical fruit.
Those are some good flavor combinations.
I must say.
You thought about this.
I might have given it some thought.
And then really, it's just a matter of layering it all up.
So you start with your yogurt.
You put in your bananas, your pineapple, your beautiful mango.
Top that with a crunchy granola and lovely coconut chips.
Sprinkle with chia seeds, healthy fats, protein.
So super good.
And finally, the ginger.
It's a power breakfast bowl.
It is a power breakfast bowl.
And it's something that you'll want to eat on the regular.
And if you use the coconut flavored yogurt, you cannot go wrong.
It makes it even more tropical.
It's almost like pina colada for breakfast.
It is.
And that one's also vegan for our vegan viewers.
And if you want to put some rum in it, I wouldn't judge.
Well, that breakfast looks delicious.
Why don't you tell me what you're going to make for lunch?
Oh, I'm so excited about this.
It is a strawberry, salmon, spinach salad.
But it's not really a salad.
We already talked about this.
It's a power bowl.
And I love it because it just starts on a bed of spinach.
But then it gets really, really tasty and interesting.
Now, the ingredients for this tasty power bowl are some spinach.
We've got some cooked salmon that I've just flaked.
Some nicely sliced strawberries.
And we've got some red quinoa that I've just cooked up.
You can do that during your weekly meal prep.
Super simple.
I also have some crunchy pecans.
Pecans.
How do you pronounce it?
I go back and forth and I ask my viewers all the time.
And everyone has it.
It's a mixed bag.
I mean, but there's three ways.
There's pecan.
And then there's pecan.
Which, that one sounds kind of gross.
I'm the one who says pecan.
But that's okay.
We can say pecans for the purpose of this.
Pecans.
Alright, so we've got some pecans.
And then we top that all with some crumbled goat cheese.
Because goat cheese makes everything better.
I agree.
If you're a goat cheese hater, you could use feta.
But goat cheese is super complementary in this dish.
With the strawberries, with the salmon, everything goes together.
So good.
And then we're going to top it all off with some shredded basil.
And then I made a really, really simple poppy seed vinaigrette.
So instead of like a creamy poppy seed dressing, we made a poppy seed vinaigrette.
That was just some olive oil.
Some white wine vinegar.
A little bit of minced shallot, which I love.
We add some honey for some sweetness.
Some mustard to keep it all together.
Those poppy seeds.
A little salt.
A little pep.
A little stir.
And you just pour that right over your salad.
So to put this bowl together, it's really, really simple.
We're just going to start with our baby spinach in a bowl and then top it.
So you can't even taste the spinach.
We've got that tasty salmon.
We've got those strawberries.
That lovely, lovely cooked red quinoa.
I like the red just for color.
You can use any kind of quinoa you want.
I thought it looked beautiful.
Then we have the pecans, the crumbled goat cheese, the shredded basil.
And then we're going to top it all with that poppy seed vinaigrette.
Lunch is served, y'all.
I'm not disappointed in that lunch.
Those are some of my favorite flavors all put together.
I might even use smoked salmon.
Oh, my God.
So, yes, lunch.
That was delicious.
And now for my final trick of the day, something really tasty.
A fantastic lean, green power bowl.
This one incorporates kale, which you may or may not know is not my favorite thing.
It is a super food.
That's the thing.
But I don't super love it.
Show me what did you do.
What do you need?
Okay, so for this recipe, we are going to start with my tasty lemon herb quinoa.
All I do is cook my quinoa in some vegetable broth, and then I add some beautiful herbs.
I've got some fresh parsley, some freshly chopped chives, and some freshly chopped basil.
I also give it a really good squeeze of lemon, salt, and pepper.
Stir it all together.
This stuff is so, so good.
So that is the base of my bowl.
On top of that, I've got my lemon herb quinoa, and then I also have some kale that I've just massaged with some olive oil
to soften it up a little bit, because I don't like sometimes...
So does that make it taste better?
It just makes it softer and easier to chew.
It really, really helps.
And you can massage it with some olive oil, or if you wanted to, you could do it with some lemon juice.
It just helps.
I mean, I do massage kale when I make kale chips, like just to get it coated with the oil fully.
But I've never thought about just massaging it just for eating.
Maybe that's why I hate kale salad.
It's the only way I can actually eat kale in any, like, civilized way.
So I've got my massaged kale.
I've got some steamed edamame beans.
I've also got some chopped cucumber, which is nice and crunchy.
I've got some broccoli.
I am adding them raw, but if you wanted to quickly steam them, you absolutely could.
And then for protein in this dish, because it's dinner, I'm actually using some cooked shredded chicken
and mixing that up with a little bit of pesto.
And instead of dressing, I'm just doing another squeeze of lemon juice.
But you could add a dressing.
And you've got the pesto and the chicken to also kind of dress it.
Dress it, exactly.
And then the lemon herb quinoa, you know.
It all comes together.
It's a thing.
So I start with my lemon herb quinoa as my base, and then I top that with a good helping of that massaged kale,
a little bit of those edamame beans, that crunchy cucumber, some beautiful broccoli.
Next, I just mix my chicken with some pesto sauce.
In this case, I use the store-bought kind, but you can definitely make your own.
It's really, really simple to make your own pesto.
I just mix that with some chicken, pile it on top, and then serve it with a wedge of lemon
as opposed to any sort of fancy-dancy dressing.
Perfect. Yeah, I love lemon juice as dressing.
It's low-calorie. It doesn't have to add any heaviness.
It keeps it light.
Plus, you have so many other flavors going on.
And you massaged the kale in the olive oil, so that's going to give it a little bit of moisture, too.
Exactly.
It's a really, really hearty bowl.
Tons of protein in here.
There's a lot to love.
Sarah Lynn, these all sound delicious.
Thanks.
I've got to say, I'm impressed. It's like you planned it.
