Good morning!
So today all my family is coming over.
We are watching conference right now and we're going to have a big fun dinner tonight.
But I'm making a few desserts so I'm going to show you guys what these desserts are and
how easy they are to make.
Okay, this is our famous homemade Butterfingers and all you need is one bag of candy corn.
You microwave it for like 2 or 3 minutes and then you dump in 16 ounces of peanut butter.
So the peanut butter is not melted but it melts once it gets in here and I need to stir
it quite a bit.
I'm breathing hard from stirring it for a little bit but I'm just going to keep stirring
this and then I'll show you guys what you do after.
But there's only 3 ingredients in the whole thing and they are seriously the best things
I've ever had.
Even if you hate candy corn, which I would never just sit and eat candy corn, you guys
are going to die if you taste it and I promise you'll be in heaven.
Okay, so once you get this all mixed up, you're just going to start squishing it down in the
pan in just a cookie sheet.
And you want it just like, I would say, you know, you want your, it's just a very thin
layer is what you're going to want, a very thin layer.
So this amount should pretty much spread through the whole pan.
When in doubt, got the trusty husband.
It really is hard.
I actually ended up.
I don't know how you've ever done this before.
I know, it's hardcore.
I ended up doubling the recipe because that's all it filled and I want that whole pan filled.
So good thing I bought lots of extra stuff.
So you stirred that first one?
Yes, Thomas.
It took me like, I'm still breathing hard from it.
Yeah, like that.
Can you tell?
I'm not even joking.
I have like forearm pump right now.
Yeah, look at that.
See, I don't have those muscles.
While it's still warm, you want to make these cuts.
So this is just like this size that we like.
Cut them however big you want.
But that's what we do.
And then we're going to stick it in the fridge for like 10 minutes, 15 minutes.
Okay, guys, step three to these delicious squares.
You want to get light cocoa.
These candy melts.
I get these.
You can get them at like Walmart, but craft stores sell them.
Regular grocery stores.
I've never seen them in there.
So you're going to have to go to like either a bigger store like Walmart or a craft store
to get them.
But I'm going to melt these for one minute at a time, because if you melt them too much
and they burn, they stiffen up and they get hard.
So what you want them to do is be really like liquid.
So I'm just going to test it after a minute, like every 30 seconds, I'll pull it out of
the microwave.
So here we go.
Okay, I did it for two minutes total, and they still were pretty lumpy when I got them
out of the microwave.
But I would rather just keep trying to stir it and melt them just myself than cook it
any longer and burn it, because I promise it'll just stiffen up, and I can actually
see at the bottom some of it's a little bit stiff.
So this is a great consistency for what we need it to do.
Just keep stirring until the lumps are out.
Now what you are going to do is grab one of these, and I grab them like upside down.
So the flat part's on the bottom, and then you're just going to dip, like that.
So it looks like this on top, there you go.
And so I'm just going to dip all of these, and let them get hard, and they are like,
if you like Butterfingers, they're 50,000 times better than a Butterfinger.
Ooh, I can't wait to eat them.
I'll show you guys them all when they're done.
Okay guys, there they are.
Delicious, delicious.
We've already had people sneaking some off the tray, but we got some corn going.
Tomatoes from our garden.
Tomatoes.
Oh yeah, you got tomatoes from the garden we got to chop up.
Yeah.
Okay, so we're getting ready for our barbecue.
Thomas is getting the stuff on the grill, getting all the fruits and vegetables ready.
We're going to go hang out downstairs while it's cooking.
Here it is, our fun dinner.
Don't lose your dollars, guys.
And we're going to use this section over here.
We just have a built-in bench right here.
We're going to put our table here.
We're going to start some fire, and have a fun barbecue dinner out here.
Say, Optimus, Grandpa.
Yum, yum, yum.
My dad just scared Alex.
Yeah, I heard you scared him a whole bunch.
Thomas is grilling.
What you got?
Ice, so check it.
Okay, let's see what we got.
These are the Big Daddy burgers.
Wow, those look delicious.
No hot dogs?
Where are the hot dogs?
Oh, they're in the fridge.
But you know what?
I think everyone wants a hamburger.
There are four eggs.
Four eggs?
Can I put an egg right here?
No?
Maybe, I'll try.
Mix it in with them.
Oh, okay.
So what does that do?
Does that make them fluffy?
And then we got a little bit of garlic.
Just a little tiny bit, in case people don't like it.
You better taste it.
And then just sea salt and some cracked pepper.
Yes, cracked pepper.
Okay.
Wait, is there cheese on some?
Or not yet?
Okay.
Go back to school.
I don't know.
I don't grill stuff.
Hey.
Sign me.
Hi.
Are you excited to eat dinner?
Okay, we have a...
Wait, wait, wait.
What just happened?
Where is it?
Oh my gosh, you guys.
Look at this spider.
We're just climbing on the table.
There's spiders everywhere.
I know.
And if I see their face, they're dead.
Oh.
Thomas, that would have been running on our food.
No.
No, it wouldn't, because somebody would have brushed it off.
No.
I can't believe no one else was freaked out like I did.
That was terrifying.
If Julie was here, she would freak out.
Would she?
I think Mason freaks out with spiders.
Really?
Did you scare someone?
Yeah, I scared Mom.
Oh, I heard...
She hurt her ankle because I screwed her.
I scared her.
No, that's okay.
She doesn't hurt her feet.
I didn't scare her.
Down there, I heard like...
It sounded like this.
This is what I heard outside.
I'm like, I think Alex scared him.
Oh my gosh, that's so funny.
It's on the floor, but here's our annual Halloween-y family night.
Halloween-y.
All good?
What, since you guys were little kids?
I don't remember life without it.
25 years.
We've been doing it for like 30 years.
Okay, there we go.
Probably 25 years.
Yeah, so since I can remember.
Right?
Are you guys going to help us?
Woo!
First try.
Steve Larson.
Yeah, Steve made the best pumpkin.
Hey, look.
It looks like...
You know what?
You're going to like this.
So, they love the Berenstain Bears.
And there's the great pumpkin book that we read all the time.
And we read it the night before we went to the pumpkin patch.
So they picked out in the Berenstain Bear book which pumpkin they wanted.
Cohen said, I want the biggest one like this.
And he showed me the picture.
And Simon's like, I want that big, fat, flat one.
Then Simon ends up getting the biggest one and Cohen gets this little pinky one.
But that's why he keeps saying, no, I don't just grow up at the house.
Once there was a wonderful pumpkin patch.
It was full of the most beautiful pumpkins around except one.
Oh, that looks like your assignment.
This little pumpkin was different.
His color wasn't as bright as all the others.
His stem was all twisted.
I found the biggest pumpkin called Amy.
It will make the best jack-o'-lantern in the world.
One by one the pumpkins were quickly chosen by each boy and girl.
That is all except one little funny looking pumpkin.
I guess I'm not good enough to be a jack-o'-lantern, said the funny looking pumpkin.
The children began to notice Stephen's jack-o'-lantern.
Watch what he did.
Look how cool that jack-o'-lantern is.
Its twisted stem had become a funny little hat.
The spots that covered it looked like freckles on its face.
The big bump had turned into a great looking nose.
My turn.
The true meaning of Halloween, right?
The history.
This is the official history of Halloween.
That has an official stamp on it.
It's been notarized.
Notarized.
Halloween wasn't always a children's fun holiday.
At one time it was a very serious and rather frightening event.
Thousands of years ago, I bet it was,
In England, Scotland, and Ireland, and also a few other places,
the day that is now November 1st was the beginning of the new year.
People also thought of this day as the start of winter.
They called it summer's end.
You better not moan.
Great Pumpkin is coming to town.
They'll be searching every pumpkin patch,
Haunted houses far and near,
To see if you've been spreading joy,
Or greedy lots of cheer.
You better not shriek.
You better not groan.
You better not howl.
You better not moan.
Great Pumpkin is coming to town.
I didn't look at that once and I knew every word.
That's embarrassing.
That's the Santa Clause.
Screech Owl's Hoot?
Yes.
Screech Owl's Hoot.
Are you listening?
He's a hoot.
This is the story of the five little ghosts.
It's a true story.
Okay, don't tell them that.
They're friendly, like Casper.
Once upon a time, there were five little ghosts.
They were all white, which is so weird.
And the only food they were supposed to eat was
Cottage cheese, milk,
Do you like milk?
And vanilla ice cream.
One day, Mama Ghost had to go to the store.
Before she left, she reminded her five little ghosts
Not to eat anything that wasn't white.
I already know what you're going to say.
Before long, however,
Before long, however, one little ghost became very hungry.
So he looked in the fridge to see what he could find.
There was no cottage cheese, milk, or vanilla ice cream.
But there was some spinach.
Ew, yuck.
What color is spinach?
I don't even know if I've ever seen spinach.
Really?
Feed it to him.
I used to like spinach as a kid.
Put it up here, above his head.
Okay, now show Dad.
See, he ate spinach.
He decided that one little bite couldn't hurt.
But before he knew it,
He turned bright green!
Okay, cover him.
Uh-oh.
Good job!
That looks like the mucus guy off of the Muselix.
Okay, well, we'll see.
Oh, you're right, that's the one you're going to do.
I know the color, I know which one it is.
The second little ghost was hungry, too.
And he found some...
What is this, Cohen?
What is it?
A straw?
Oh, he said it good!
He calls it straw jobbies, usually.
Strawberry.
Okay, so he thought one little bite wouldn't hurt.
But before he knew it,
He was bright red!
Yes, last year, they missed him completely.
Well, they're a year older.
Yet, they're able to do a lot of things.
Those look like poop emojis.
Have you seen them?
It looked so good, or it was so good,
His stomach was grumbling so loud,
He ate a spoonful.
It tasted so yummy, but soon,
He was a speckled chocolate chip ghost.
They have colored food in the fridge.
And they can't have anything colored.
But we came up with the conclusion
That maybe once you're an adult, you can.
Oh, yeah.
We're so serious about that.
The adult ghost can have colored food.
We wondered this question for 25 years.
Why did she have it in the first place?
Hey, RIP.
RIP.
Rest in peace.
Is that the one on the...
Headstone.
Yeah, that's RIP.
It's the gravestone.
Everybody got it?
The next one is a mummy.
Where's the mummy at?
It's a boy mummy.
I don't know if there's a girl mummy,
But it's a boy.
Haunted house.
The witch with a tooth.
One tooth.
A tooth.
You guys got one too, bud.
Yay.
The skeleton guy.
I only have one more.
Okay, a ghost.
Cohen, we got it.
He's yelling at the ground.
Boo bingo.
Good job, Coco.
Every single person
Got blackout at the same time.
I wonder how that happened.
Well, it's because I pulled two cards at the same time.
I know, but even if you didn't...
No, actually, because everybody's cards are so different.
That's weird. I don't know.
It's when you're clearing the whole card.
Yeah, that's true.
So every year we do the phantom.
Do you have your phone out?
Where you take a treat to two neighbors.
But what we wanted to figure out, Alex,
With his calculator,
Is how many people would
This get to within 30 days?
So if I went and took it to two people
Tomorrow night
Those two people took it to two people
Then those four people
Took it to two people.
Does that make sense?
So how would you figure that out?
Okay, how many people?
If you did this to two people on the first of the month
How many people would it get to by the last day of the month?
Okay, so
It started with two people
And then they gave it to two people
And it went up every single day for 30 days
Every single person gave it to two people
It would end up reaching
$2,986,000
$2,000,000?
$344,448
Everybody but China would get it.
Oh my gosh!
Dad, did you think it was $12,000?
For some reason I thought it was like $12,000
It just gets up really quick
After you get past like 10 days
Really? Let's see, look at those math
So it's
$248,1632
$164,128
$712,1424
$2848,5696
$11,392
Wow, then it's doubling from
$11,000 to $22,000
Yeah, so in 13 days it reaches
Almost $12,000
Oh yeah, that's what it was
Well, everybody
Has gone home for the
Evening, and we just hugged the boys in
So we're gonna call that a night
Thank you guys so much for watching and following along
We'll see you guys tomorrow, bye
