In this episode of Let’s Teach, we’ll get to know these courageous students.  We’ll also learn about what they experienced as some of the first Black students to integrate into an all-white public school.

In the history of the Civil Rights Movement, there are a handful of critical events, groups, and leaders that stand out as game-changers. The Little Rock Nine is one of them. 

When the segregation of public schools was declared unconstitutional in 1954, leaders and organizers within the movement wasted no time in getting to work to tackle the educational injustices and inequalities African American students had been facing for the last century. Little Rock, Arkansas, was known as a hotbed for deeply rooted racism and segregation, and it soon became the focal point of the nation as nine Black students bravely entered the halls of Little Rock High School.
