TOOL LIST:
18v Drill
16 oz. Hammer
Pry Bar (optional)

MATERIAL LIST:
Exterior Screws (3" or 3-1/2")

HOW TO:
1) Locate exposed deck nails and use either a claw hammer or pry bar to back them out gently.
2) Insert an exterior-grade screw into the nail hole. The screw should be at least 1/2" longer than the removed nail.
3) Drive screw with drill or driver. The existing nail hole will act as a pre-drilled guide for the new screw.
4) Make sure the new screw bites firmly into joist lumber at the bottom of the hole. This will ensure firm fastening (and is the reason for using a longer nail than screw)
4) If deck is stained, consider touching up the screw head with matching stain to better hide it.
