Gao Zhanxiang, former Executive Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, passed away on December 9. It was not until January 2 did the Chinese regime's mouthpiece, Xinhua, release an official announcement about his death. The post wrote that Gao "died of illness" at 87.
However, Zhu Yongxin, currently deputy secretary general of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, revealed more details about the former vice minister's death. According to Chinese media, Da Ji Yuan, Zhu Yongxin published a eulogy two days after Gao's death. The tribute was titled "Zhu Yongxin: In mourning for Minister Gao Zhanxiang."
