Last game of the season comes down to the last ball, a breakdown

It's the last game of the season between the Renegades and the Thunder, and the Renegades, the last place Renegades need 10 runs off of the next nine balls to win it. You forget, from my previous cricket videos, in this version of T20 cricket, there's a limited amount of balls being bowled, so there's only nine left. They need 10 runs to win. That's pretty easy to do. The two batters in play, Merlo and Finch. Merlo has scored 15 runs off of eight balls. Finch has scored 82 off of 63, and they only need 10 out of the next nine or whatever. And the bowler for the Thunder, the favorite, who are playing at this point to try to get the second position. This is the last game of the season. The Renegades stink. They're out. They're playing for pride. The Thunder? They're playing for seating. Sam's. This means that he has given up 21 runs. He has collected zero wickets. He's gotten zero hitters out. And here we go. This was a crazy ending, and the Thunder, just let everyone know why, they're in the top of the league, and the Renegades aren't. That guy tried to get creative. If you're like, why would he try to do that? Well, you position your fielders in a particular way. If he gets it over the wicket-keeper's head, it's probably going to the boundary, which means an automatic four. So he tries to dipsy-dooley go with the scoop, and he scoops it right into his wicket, which is like the strike zone, and he's out, and he's done, and he's upset with himself. And Sam's is like, why'd he even try to do that? Look at what I look like. Oh. And then, yeah, so there's the ball, boom, tried to scoop it right into the wicket. You can see the things on top fall off, and it lights up. That means it was hit. If those things don't fall off, it doesn't matter. So he's out of the game forever, and in comes the next batsman. And he's got to do an easy job, just get some runs. Uh-oh. No runs off that one. He puts it in play, but they don't run, so they don't get any runs. They call that a dot ball. Here's the next one, and okay. You see how they're running back and forth? That's a run. They ran, so that's one run. And now they need nine runs off of the next six balls, a very doable task, but we're really coming down to it. We have a new pitcher in, the first ball. That's hit. Uh, no runs. That's another dot ball, and then this one is, this is the play of the match, out. So this fielder in the infield stops it, bare hand behind his body, gets up, throws it to his teammate. He hits the wicket before that dude crossed. That's a run out. So that batter is now out. Incredible play. He's got to leave forever. Not welcome back. Sutherland comes in. You can see he's seen zero balls and scored zero runs. Finch, on the other hand, laying it down. Finch is good. He's good. All right. He's good. All right. He's good. In this league, he's good. And now Finch, he's up. 82 runs. He puts a drive into that one, but it goes to our friend Beaker, who takes it for the out. Sam is actually like one of my favorite players that I watch defensively. He made a lot of nice plays this season for the Thunder. And his teammates said, nice catch, Sam. Good job. And yeah. So that guy's out. So we saw a bowl out when he hit the wicket. We saw a run out when they threw the runner running. And now you saw caught out. He was caught. So Finch is done. And now Boyce comes in. So now both batters have yet to see a ball. Neither have scored a run. And they have a lot of pressure on them because they need to score nine runs off three balls. And look at this. Sutherland puts a drive into it, hits it over the boundary. That's six runs. And now all they need is three off of the next two balls. It should be easy for the Renegades to upset the Thunder here. That's wide. Blocked by our dude. One run. So now Boyce, who has yet to see, is yet to see a ball, a ball, whatever, he has to get two runs off of this. So basically he's got to hit it in play. He's got to get it past the infield. And they got to sprint their asses off to try and run back and forth twice. Why would the bowler give him anything to pitch? That's a common question. If he throws it too wide, the umpire will automatically give the team a run and he has to redo the pitch. So you don't want to risk that when you're up two runs. So he has to throw it in the zone. And he just gets it there and taken. Dude catches it again. The Renegades lose the Thunder win by one run and secures the three seed. They're trying to get the two seed, but they didn't do it. And Boyce is sad. Super sad. So sad. That's the end of his season. He's probably a bowler. That's why he's at the bottom of the lineup and not known for his hitting anyway.
