Adding built-in closet shelves is a relatively simple project for DIYers. This built-in installation can be carried out in 4-6 hours by anyone with reasonable tool experience.

Tools:
Table Saw
Miter Saw
Coping Saw
Brad Nailer / Compressor
Paint Roller
6' Foam Roller
2' Level
6' Straightedge
Tape Measure
Speed Square

Materials:
1/2" plywood
3/4" plywood
1x2x8 pre-primed trim
Primer / Paint
Titebond 2 Glue
Brad nails (assorted)

Custom Closet Built-in Shelves Installation How-To:
1) Pre-prime and pre-paint lumber.
2) Layout measurements for closet shelves.
3) Cut and install side cleats with brad nailer.
4) Cut and install back cleats.
5) Cut and install plywood closet shelves.
6) Cut and install center dividers.
7) Cut and install face frames.
8) Caulk and paint closet shelves perimeters.
9) Touch-up paint closet shelves.
