How to plait a horse with a long mane | Easy technique
A braided mane or tail is beautiful and gives your horse a striking loo. Watch the video by Liz Hadley to learn the simple technique on how to best braid your horse's mane. Follow these simple tips:
- Wet the pony's hair with a brush.
- Make big braids from top to bottom.
- The tip of the first braid will connect to the second braid.
In addition, you can also refer to some other tips below:
- For a horse with a long mane, mane detangling is kept to a minimum, and you should be able to avoid having to undo the mane to control unruly hairs completely.
- The braids should be left loose at the top, where the hairline joins the neck, so the horse does not itch and relieve discomfort. Plaits should be tighter toward the bottom of the braid to prevent sticks and other debris from getting snagged there.
- Braiding manes probably doesn't significantly affect the rate at which hair grows, other from the small stimulation of blood flow that occurs during grooming. However, braiding can help reduce hair loss due to snags and tangles.
