Adam took another trip to Austin to work on the van and got quite a bit done! We now have our heater installed, our back windows, and some of the cabinet faces.

I'm back in the ATX. My turn, round two. I was a little nervous coming into this one
for some reason, but since we got here, gotten a lot of work done.
So what we've gotten done so far this trip is we got the heater put in. So that bad boy is
right up under the passenger seat. This is the air, this is where the heat's going to come out.
So that's a big move there. I didn't film a whole ton about how to do it because I couldn't do it
any better than some of the videos that I watched. So we'll link a few of them below in some of the
blog posts that we use. It wasn't a painless situation. There was a little hairy spots in
there, but it's in. It's all hooked up. It's hooked up to the gas tank, which that part was really
easy. So yeah, we haven't tested it yet, but once we get our electronic, other electrical things in,
then we can give it a test and I hope it all works. So second big thing that we're working
on right now that we're in the middle of is putting in the very back windows.
So everything's going smooth with that. We got both of them cut out. So we were using the Colt gun,
which I bought the cheapest one of. So we bought the Colt gun and we were putting on the adhesive
along the side and the cheap Colt gun, the handle is, it was just bending because that crap is so
hard to get out. So we were about halfway putting the bead on there, about half of it on there,
and the Colt gun crapped out on us. So we're waiting on my brother-in-law to get here with
another Colt gun so we can finish those up before we pack up for tonight. So I'll show you what
those look like. They're all cut out right there, ready to go right there. What we also did was
water, tested the water here. So we're doing a water test, a leak test for the shower and some
of the other line here. So here we go, running water in the shower. So what we're doing is
before we button up and close up all the plumbing there for the shower, we wanted to run a water
test to see any kind of leaks, things like that. So the water, the pipes from the shower are running
through this dresser here up under it. And then down the back here, and we have a water hose
connected for the test. So this is from the city water, and so it's 100 pounds of pressure
running into these pipes, which is on the high end of water pressure. And so once we have our water
hooked in, it'll be around 60 pounds of water pressure. So it won't be this high of pressure,
and so if it can pass this test, it should be able to pass the 60 pounds. We got a little
leakage going on right here in the shower mixer, but we'll get it figured out. Also, by the way,
I was super impressed with all the work that Catherine did last time she was here. The whole
structure of the inside of the van is all in. It's so cool. I can't wipe the smile off my face
because of it. I keep saying it, but it's becoming more and more real. So man, I'm getting pumped,
and I can't wait for the first time we get to sleep in here, and we're out in the middle of
nowhere and just enjoying it. So it's going to be fun, and it's been a tough process, but
it's moving along. Okay, so it's the end of day two of my second visit here. Got some big stuff
done. So we got the heater put in, like I said, and we've got these back windows in. Check them
out. I can see myself in them. They look good. So happy with this. Oh, this is going to be so much
better to drive with. I can see out the back now. All right, so here's our first project of today.
We're making the face of this cabinet here. So we measured and cut out the top, bottom,
and left and right sides, and then we use what's called a Kreg jig to make these pocket holes here.
So you drill it out, and then you screw in the screw, and all four corners there have that,
and pop it in place, and it looks like the face of a cabinet. Okay, so here's our dresser.
We've got the face on, and we've got the supports for the drawers. So the tracks of the drawers
will go along here, and we've got three drawers going there. So here's the dresser with the face
on, and the supports for the drawer tracks on the inside there, and then the butcher block on top
that we'll cut down to fit, and stain, and make look real nice. Really pretty. Today was one of
those days where all the work we did is minuscule details, so it doesn't look like we got a lot done,
but spent hours on all this stuff. So like I showed earlier, we got the face of the cabinet on,
and where the supports for the sliders are going to go for the drawers.
So that was the first part of today, and then the second part mainly was we got started on
the bench seats here. So what we've got going is basically a support system going here for
the bench top. Okay, so it's going to sit on that lip there, and the cushions will go on top of that,
but you'll be able to lift the bench up right there, set it back down, get to all the goodies
that are under there. All right, so we got that going. All right, that's glued and clamped in
right now, and then the next time, or soon, we'll get to the other side. Well, that's a wrap on my
second trip down here. Very productive three days. Got the heater put in under the passenger seat
here, the face of the dresser there with some of the drawers ready to get going in there,
and also the back windows, which I'm probably most excited about that because we can see out
the back when we're driving now, and then started working on the benches back there. So very
productive. I'm very happy with what we got done. Next up, Catherine's coming next week, I think,
and then I'm coming a couple of days later, and we'll be tag-teaming the work on Brisket,
so that's awesome. Things should get picking up even more. We'll be here for the Memorial Day
weekend, and things are starting to come together, so it's awesome and exciting, and we'll see you
then.
