For several years, SpaceX has been working on Starship as a heavy lift vehicle with a capacity to transport massive amounts of cargo to the Moon and eventually to Mars.
Sadly, its maiden launch was pushed back over and over again.
“We'll do a bunch of tests in in December and hopefully launch in in January”.
The first and foremost cause belongs to Starship technical preparations!
Thanks to progress made in 2021, SpaceX already has significant experience testing an earlier orbital-class Starship prototype on the ground.
As a result, Ship 24’s path to flight readiness should be simpler. It lit up all six of its Raptors in September.
But the challenges are greater for Booster 7.
Super Heavy Booster 7 left the factory for the first time in March 2022 and has been stuck in a seemingly continuous state of testing, rework, and retesting ever since. While the pace of testing and progress was in many ways more aggressive from 2019 to mid-2021, it still can’t be said that SpaceX has been slacking off in 2022. Booster 7 alone completed more than 24 distinct tests (including six static fires) between early April and late November.
