If they're not going to be that good, why are you not putting ketchup on them?
The best fries I've ever had in my life.
What's up, Food Nation?
Today we are here at Ocean City, Maryland on the famous Boardwalk by the Beach.
We are taking a slice out of America and going back in time into the American Boardwalk.
There are only a couple that exist and today we're in Ocean City, Maryland trying to taste
everything we can, all the Boardwalk food.
We're going to have fries, pizza, I don't even know.
We're going to have so much fun, there's so many people outside.
We're excited to take you on this summer tour.
So Ocean City is known for a few key food items.
Most of them are located here on the Boardwalk and one that dates back to 1939 is right behind me.
Dumpsters Dairyland.
It started by Gladys Dumpsters in 1939 and it switched hands but it is still serving
ice cream to this day.
And one of our favorite things to get here is chocolate ice cream dipped in peanut butter.
They are so skilled.
I'd be so nervous to dip this thing all the way over into a vat of hot peanut butter fudge.
It honestly tastes like a Reese's peanut butter cup.
It is so good and it's soft and it's cold and it is, if you can't tell, it's very humid
and very hot here in Maryland.
This is absolutely perfect, especially if you're spending a very long day on the Boardwalk
like we are today.
Another very famous place to go is the Dough Roller, serving up the best pizza on the Boardwalk.
It started in 1980 and it has really become a fan favorite around here.
There are so many different locations on the Boardwalk.
There's like at least five.
You can find it everywhere and it is really good.
Mmm.
1920 something, meaning it's been around for more than 80 years.
It was the first fry stand on the Boardwalk.
And what makes them so popular is that their quality of potatoes is set to a really high standard.
So at different times of the year, they import potatoes from different states to make sure
that they're getting the best potato possible.
We've eaten a lot of fries on this show and these are without a doubt the best fries.
I was really skeptical.
Like Leah was like, oh you have the good fries.
And I was like, no, like they're not going to be that good.
Why are you not putting ketchup on them?
The best fries I've ever had in my life.
It's amazing.
Maybe not that many, but there are hundreds of fishing boats.
Every weekend they have a different activity in Ocean City.
They have like three biker weekends, like eight different fishing weekends.
And this weekend happens to be the White Marlin Festival weekend,
which is crazy considering that like normally you have to go way out to catch them,
but here you don't have to go out as far.
And the boat traffic, it looks really cool.
Oh, this place is so much fun.
8,000 people that live here year round.
And in the summer it becomes the second most populated town in Maryland.
The population shoots up to 325,000 at the minimum
and almost 400,000 on the high end.
The Ocean City Boardwalk dates back to 1902.
And it's officially called Atlantic Avenue.
So it started when a bunch of hotel owners got together
and they started putting planks down on the sand for the convenience of their guests.
But then at night, they would take the boards up so that nobody could steal them.
So in 1910, the city officially built this boardwalk here.
So it was a permanent fixture and it just grew from there.
Fisher's popcorn, another favorite.
This box was only a dollar.
It's like the cheapest snack you can buy on the boardwalk.
That's great.
Caramel.
Alright, so I just saw them putting butter into the giant cauldron.
I guess it's called a cauldron.
That they mix this in with a wooden spoon.
And apparently this is the batch that just came out.
And it's like burning my hand.
It's so sweet and salty.
It's like the perfect thing for when you get out of the ocean
and you're just like...
We're here at Chincoteague Island, which is another state park of Virginia.
It's amazing.
Maryland is such a great state.
People don't think about coming here as a destination or a vacation.
But it really is worth it and you'll have a lot of fun.
Thank you so much for watching this video.
It was so much fun to taste everything on the boardwalk.
Everything was really not good for us, but really delicious.
I would do it again.
And we will do it again.
Yeah, I think my favorite thing was the caramel corn.
I've never had caramel corn that was that fresh.
Like the sugar and the butter were so good together.
Probably the freshest fries.
You can't go wrong with malt, vinegar, or apple cider vinegar on fresh french fries.
It's like two times better than ketchup.
Love it.
It was so much fun.
If you ever have a chance to come to an American boardwalk, you should definitely try it out.
Ocean City is the best.
So much fun.
Thanks for watching.
Go.
You can't be in the background.
It defeats the purpose of the shot.
Keep going.
You don't have to eat it when you pull it.
Pull it.
It's really good.
K, go.
Yes.
Thank you.
My hat's straight?
Yep.
Yes.
Thank you.
You should say apple if I'm about to run into something.
Or crab.
K.
And then it changed hands, but it's keeping...
It came to this day.
And what it's...
And the best...
They would take the boards up so that nobody could steal them.
So, um...
K.
Go ahead.
You can see me?
You can see my face?
My hat is straight?
No.
No, it's not straight?
It is straight.
It's good.
K.
The best way to end a day at Ocean City is to come down to Assateague Island, make a
campfire, and enjoy a s'more.
