As you consider how to dress well this fall, you should definitely turn to one of the biggest menswear essentials out there--the classic navy suit. And you know that when it comes to suit style and what to wear with a navy suit, here at He Spoke Style, we've got you covered. In today's video, I'm giving you five fall outfit ideas using a navy suit as a foundation. There are, of course, a couple business outfits, a business casual outfit, and a suit with a turtleneck, which is always a fan favorite. Enjoy!
There's a question that always comes to mind
when I think about a navy suit,
and that is, what can't it do?
It works for business, business casual,
an elegant evening event,
looks great in so many situations,
and literally every season.
And in this video, I'm gonna show you five ways
you can style a navy suit for fall.
I'm Brian Sacawa, and you are watching He Spoke Style,
where we are dedicated to giving you all the tips,
knowledge, and inspiration you need to dress well,
have more confidence, and unlock your potential.
Jumping right into our first look here,
and you might be wondering,
what exactly makes this a fall navy suit outfit?
It's just a navy suit, white shirt, and striped tie, right?
Well, if you've been here for a while,
you probably know what I'm gonna say next,
and that is that dressing seasonally
is all about the fabrics you choose.
In this case, no, it's not actually about the suit fabric,
which is hopsack, it's about the tie.
The tie is a Brooks Brothers tie,
and it's wool.
Now, this is a subtle detail,
but it's a detail that makes all the difference
in making this outfit look and feel more like fall.
Wearing a suit does not automatically mean
that you have to wear a tie.
And in terms of dressing down a suit
for a more business casual vibe,
losing the tie is a very easy way to accomplish that.
Now, sometimes I feel like this can look
somewhat incomplete, but during the fall,
you can overcome that very easily by layering a sweater.
Not only does it give the outfit more of a finished look,
but it also serves a practical purpose,
lending a little extra warmth.
Key to making this work is to choose a sweater
that isn't bulky.
A thin merino wool is a great option.
In addition to fabric, pattern is also another great way
to give a nod to the season.
Personally, I think plaid is a pattern
that kind of conjures up the colder fall and winter months.
And one way to add that into a suited look is,
yes, the tie.
Here, we've got a big Prince of Wales check tie,
which is, I'll say, a little bit of a statement-making tie.
You know, when you're dealing with something
that has a bold pattern like this,
styling it can be potentially a little tricky.
But if you follow the rule of styling statement pieces,
which is to keep the rest of the outfit simple,
you'll have no problem.
Solid suit and solid shirt provide the perfect foundation
for the tie to take center stage.
Taking that idea of pattern
and doing it a little differently in this look,
here, we've got a gingham shirt,
which, for me, has two effects.
First, it takes a bit of the formality out of the suit,
and second, it gives it a bit more of a sporty feel.
Once again, you'll notice that this is the only pattern
in this look, which focuses your attention.
And then we're bringing in those fall elements
with the color choice.
Brown is a great year-round color, in my opinion,
but it really is at home during the fall season.
And little texture in the grenadine tie
adds another layer of subtlety.
Less is often more in matters of style,
and it usually results in making an even bigger impact.
A simple turtleneck with a suit
is not only a great fall style move,
but a very easy way to transform your suit
and give it some elegant and casual sophistication.
Now, if you like doing more with less,
you're probably a fan of the capsule wardrobe concept.
For fall, I actually took 20 pieces
and put together 10 different outfits,
and that's in that video right over there.

you already have in your wardrobe,
