DFJ reviews this product that provides protection both for your eyes and ears! Weighing just over 1/10th of a pound, these economical but sturdy glasses provide UV protection and 25 dB of noise reduction. Interested? Visit: https://www.rockler.com/new-bench-dog-sound-shield-glasses-combine-eye-ear-protection. There is a very small compensation to me if you purchase the product, but rest assured we don't recommend items that we REALLY like and can sleep at night after recommending!
Enjoy! DFJ
Hey, Dirt Farmer Jay here. If you're looking for a great solution for safety glasses where you
don't have to change your prescription glasses, I've got a great answer for you. Stay tuned.
Hey, Dirt Farmer Jay here. I've seen all of you guys my age down there at Home Depot and Lowe's.
You're the guys that got the safety glasses up here or down here or hanging here. You got
sunglasses. You're putting on readers and all that sort of thing. It's the bane of us woodworkers
as we go, let's say, north of 50. Our friends at Bench Dog Tools have come up with a great product
that comes both in a fit over size. I'm wearing them right now. Or one that is for you that don't
need sight correction. Now, this great product is a combo product. It's got both eye protection
as well as ear protection. These temples house earbuds right in them. As you notice when I pull
it, there's a little slider on the top that allows you to pull them out, insert them in your ear,
and then when you're done, you can slide these back, put the covers back over. Now, what's really
great about these is that not only are these 99% UV blocking lenses and they're scratch resistant as
well, but also you have an NRR rating of 25 decibels, meaning these little earbuds right in
here will reduce whatever the ambient sound is in your shop down 25 dB. That's pretty significant.
I use this a lot when I'm running a lot of things on the router table, on my jointer, my thickness
planer, and even the table saw. It's a great little tool. Now, another nice thing about these is these
tips are replaceable, so when they just get too gross to do anything else with them or they start
to compress a bit and they're not sealing as well, then you can go ahead and replace them and you can
just unscrew these, get the new ones that are available at the retailer that I'll tell you about
in just a moment. They're really easy to take out when you need to answer a phone or something like
that and then not have to go searching for your earbuds. Now, what I really like, not only is it
available both for those who need correction and those who don't, but the price is about 20 bucks.
That's it. Now, the retailer that I found them from is Rockler.com. Look for them under their
search term SoundShield and that will get you right to them. BenchDog, you knocked it out of
the park and Rockler, thank you for making these so readily available. If you like the video and
you find it to be helpful for other people in your life that do woodworking or need glasses like this,
be sure to pass it on and once you subscribe to our channel, that allows us to keep producing
these kinds of videos. Until the next time, this is Dirt Farmer Jay.
