See you next time!
Hello and welcome back everyone!
So I'm hearing that apparently spring or summer is starting in Canada or America
and a lot of you guys have actually requested for me to follow the season
or to start to show recipes that are a bit more summery with the good days coming.
And you know what? In Australia we still have the sun,
it's still kind of a late summer and it's a beautiful day today.
So to make everyone happy I decided to make the super ultra summer recipe we do in the south of
France in the Provence region which is called the Tarte Provençale à la Tomate et à la Moutarde
which translates into the Tomato and Mustard Tart.
Now let's jump in and sit down what kind of ingredients we're going to need for that recipe.
What do we need in order to make our delicious Tomato and Mustard Tart?
Well the first thing you're going to need is this fresh juicy red tomatoes.
Make sure you take the best quality one you can find.
When you got some about a kilo or something all the detailed ingredients would be listed
in the video description so don't worry but as a rough guide you're going to slice them like that.
Put them in a bowl, reserve them on the side.
You're going to need a pre-rolled and ready-made kind of puff pastry roll,
Dijon mustard which is a type of French mustard,
a little bit of passata which is a simple straightforward tomato sauce to add some
tomatoey taste because sometimes it lacks, Italian herbs and breadcrumbs.
That's it.
For the rest we don't even need a dish we're going to use a simple
baking tray and do everything by hand.
Let's do this.
All right so let's start.
I've rolled out my dough really in a messy way,
straight off in a baking tray and I pour a little bit, I sprinkle a little bit of flour in it.
I want to show you how messy it starts and how good it can look afterwards.
From here what we're going to do, we're going to create actually,
we're going to create a little pan of our own like a little dish made with the dough.
So you're just going to fold a little bit of the edges,
and it doesn't have to be really precise or whatever, super good looking.
So this is going to become your dish.
And I love to do this because it's really this kind of rustic look
and it really does transform once it's in the oven.
Step number two, you're going to take your Dijon mustard
and you're going to put a generous amount.
You see this, that's about two kind of tablespoons
and you're going to spread it evenly everywhere.
Once you're done with the mustard you take a little bit,
and this is a little bit extra, a little bit passata
just to give that little extra tomato sauce taste in your mix.
And you mix it with the mustard.
Now one thing I forgot to mention again,
you have to preheat your oven at 200 degrees Celsius or 420 Fahrenheit.
After the tomato, you take some lovely breadcrumbs
and you're going to sprinkle all of the base with some breadcrumbs.
And now for our lovely tomatoes.
So make sure you put a lot and a lot of tomatoes
and I'm using here different styles of tomatoes, different brands
and the more tomatoes the better.
And now we're almost done and we're just going to do some of the seasoning.
So I'm going to add some lovely salt because you want some salt
otherwise it's going to be a little bit blend.
Some cracked pepper, okay.
I'm going to sprinkle my herbs.
So these are like Italian herbs, dry herbs, French dry herbs, things like that.
Lovely.
And to finish our lovely olive oil.
I didn't mention that before but this is what you need and you need a lot of it.
And that's it.
Our tart is done.
I'm going to now put this for 35 minutes in my oven
and I'm going to take it out when it's ready.
Wow, would you look at this?
This is what I'm talking about.
Tomato, mustard, little herbs, a lovely little summer recipe.
And look at that.
I've made a dish out of nothing.
You see what I folded?
Transformed into a lovely thing.
This is like a pizza.
When you want to serve it, you can just take a cutter like that
and you can just dig in and look at this juice.
And you can take slices like that.
Maybe I'm going to cut the sides.
Sorry if I'm a bit messy.
Just to show you.
Very, very delicate.
And this is what you get.
Look at this lovely side.
You see there's a little layer of dough.
You got some mustard.
And when you bite into this, it's going to have that lovely juicy tomato taste.
It's an absolute winner of a recipe.
And that's it guys.
Basically, how easy was that summer tart?
It's a really beautiful tart to try.
Highly recommend it.
But that's it for today.
I hope you enjoyed the show.
And as for me now, I'm just going to take one of these lovely pieces and have a bite.
Lovely.
I'll see you next time.
