Hi everyone, it's Michelle Barada and welcome to Bella Branch TV. Today I have
a really great DIY for Valentine's Day. I'm going to show you how to make cards
using all kinds of stuff like ribbons and the biggest thing that I used was
paint swatches from the paint store. Like I got mine at Home Depot and those are
free. So I think you guys will love this DIY for Valentine's Day and really these
cards can be for anyone. They could be for your boyfriend, a husband, your
girlfriend, a friend, whoever, really anybody. So I hope you guys like the DIY.
So let's get started. What you'll need for this project are paint swatches, glue,
washi tape, scissors, a hole punch and a heart hole punch. First you're gonna take
your paint swatches and you get them in all different colors and shades and then
you're gonna take your heart hole punch. Now you could cut them out by hand but
really the hole punch is great and I got mine at Michaels and you're gonna
take your swatches and you're gonna start cutting out different heart
swatches. All the cards we're making today are an eight and a half by eleven
piece of paper or cardstock cut in half which makes it eight and a half by five
and a half. Now you're gonna take the hearts that you've punched out with your
your heart punch and you're gonna lay them across the top of your card and
you're laying them down from the darkest color to the lightest color of
the hues that you pick. So pink, sage, lavender, yellow. So you can see they're
dark at the top and then lighter at the bottom. Next you're going to measure the
front of the card which comes to five and a half by four and a quarter. Then
you're gonna take that number and subtract about a half an inch all the
way around which would be five by three and three quarters and you're gonna make
a rectangle from the white cardstock and that's gonna be inserted inside the
black card so you can write your Valentine note. Then you're gonna take
your washi tape and instead of gluing the white cardstock into the inside I'm
gonna just secure it on each corner with a little piece of the washi tape. It
makes it look really cool and more stylish. Then you're gonna write your
note. Happy Valentine's Day. Now card number two, the cute little pom-pom and
sequence heart card. First you're gonna cut and fold an eight and a half inch by
five and a half inch piece of cardstock. Then you're gonna take some glue and
you're gonna draw a heart at the top. Next you're gonna choose what ribbon or
sequence you're gonna use for your heart. I chose a purple, a light purple sequence
and you can just get this at a fabric store and you're gonna gently place that
around the glue. Super easy to do this and when you get to the bottom of the
heart you're just gonna snip it off and if any sequence came off you could just
put them right back on because the glue is still wet. Now we're gonna decide what
do we want at the bottom. Do we want these cute pink pom-poms? Do we want a
row of daisies? I think I would like to have the pom-poms. I think that's the
cutest choice. So you're gonna take some glue and you're gonna put a bead of the
glue right across the bottom part of your card. Then you're gonna take the
pom-poms and you're gonna place that right along and then you're gonna trim
the excess. Now we're gonna write Happy Valentine's Day. So I put happy at the
top and Valentine's Day at the bottom. Here's card number three. You are the key
to my heart. Start by cutting and folding an eight and a half inch by five inch
piece of cardstock and then you can gather a little key that I got from
Michaels and then take one of your swatches. I picked a pale pink and draw a
heart on it. The reason I'm drawing a heart and not using the punch is because
I want the heart to be bigger. After you cut that out you're gonna add some glue
to the back and then you're gonna glue it to the top of your card. Next you're
gonna put the key on a piece of string or twine. I used a little red and white
striped twine and then you're going to decide where the center is of that heart
and then mark where you want to put the hole punch and that's gonna go through
both pieces of the fold. Take the twine and wrap it around the card and leaving
the top part of the twine a little longer than the bottom that's underneath.
Put the key in the center of the heart and now tie a knot around the key. Put a
dab of glue at the top of the heart and put the key right on top. Now you could
use hot glue if you wanted but I just use the regular glue. Now at the top of
the card write you are and at the bottom you're gonna write to my heart because
it's gonna say you are the key to my heart. Now it's time to close your card.
Take the bottom twine and put it through the punch hole and then put the top
twine around going under and then pulling it through the punch hole and
then tie it in a bow and you're done. And of course before you tie this shut you're
gonna put a beautiful note inside for your valentine. Last but not least card
number four. Cut and fold an eight and a half inch by five and a half inch card
stock. Now take some red and white twine you could use any kind of ribbon really
but I'm using a red and white twine and I'm going to put that across the top of
the card leaving a little extra on the side. Taking my washi tape and I'm gonna
put that in the corner. Then what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna flip it over and
I'm gonna kind of hang it so it's a hanging twine and put the washi tape on
the other side. Now I'm gonna take some glue and I'm gonna glue this first heart
in the center. Then I'm gonna glue a heart on either side of that center
heart. Then all you have left is to write I love you at the bottom. I hope you guys
love today's DIY. I really like doing this one and I have a lot of Valentine
cards now to give away. Also I'm gonna do a giveaway for you guys for all my
