What is up? Welcome back. Do you like to do it, build it, or make it?
Do you like to do it, build it, or make it? So do we. We have a new video each week.
This week we ran out of time, so we're going live. Yeah, coming to you live this
Friday morning. It's a beautiful sunny morning here in Richmond, Virginia. So yes,
we had a project fail earlier this week. So not a fail, just we've recovered. Took a lot longer.
But it's resin, and you guys know with resin, it has to set up. So it is actually in our filming
room set up on like two surfaces in there, and so we can't film in there, and we couldn't get
the, and well, that video is still being filmed, I guess. Yeah, so we have to film. Today's video
is a little bit of a switch from what we were planning to do. This was on the radar, so we had
to go live, and we're going to do it for you live today. So I hope somebody's able to join us this
morning live. Oh yeah, we have Patricia and of course Candice. Oh, thanks Candice. I know this
was a super surprise to you, but I appreciate you joining us. It was a super surprise to us also.
Yeah, yesterday when, I don't know if any of you guys saw our social media, but we did post on there.
Didn't you post on there your project fail? Yeah. His oh no, oh no, no, no, no, no. Yeah, it was oh no.
So we have five TikTok hacks for sublimation that we're going to try out today. Kim was all over
TikTok and found a bunch of them, but we narrowed it down to five that we want to try,
and we'll see if it works. Yeah, so that's what we're going to do. We're going to do a little
sublimation on a little bit different types of substrates. Again, besides t-shirts, we know we
can do a t-shirt that's anything greater than what 50% polyester. So we're going to do some
other things this morning. Hopefully we get a couple more people. I don't want to jump too
quickly into it. We got 28 people. Oh, okay, all right. Well, we could go ahead and get started.
Let me show you what we've got for substrates, and then we'll talk about it. Step one, we're
going to gather all of our supplies. Yeah, there you go. We needed a heat press. We have the cricket
since we're doing all the sublimation stuff. It's on. He's wheeling it around like it's not 400 degrees.
We needed some sublimation paper. We already printed all of our stuff.
We're using our A-sub paper, and the great thing about A-sub is they do have this
little chart on the back that gives you temperatures and press times for different
types of materials. Sublimation printer, our eco tank. You can't see it, can you? You guys see it?
It's in here. It's over here. She's wheeling it around like it's not super heavy.
I don't have anything dangerous to say, and then a bunch of substrates. Well, a pad,
some butcher paper, a teflon sheet, and then a bunch of different things to sublimate on.
Yeah, so I'll tell you a little bit about those types of materials that we have or substrates.
So, in our filming studio, if you've watched our videos before, typically when we're in the
filming studio, you'll see behind us we have that wall control pegboard. Yes, wall control
pegboard. It's a metal pegboard that's behind us, and we have our Country Chic paints on there,
tools on there. We use a big pegboard. Yeah, our little sign that we don't have this morning,
so you guys can't see my funny quote, but I got a good one for next week that is sitting up in
there when we started filming that project, but this is one of the shelves. This is one of the
shelves that we keep the Country Chic paints on, and I wanted you to see that we think you can
sublimate on this. So, we were at a conference a couple of weeks ago, and wall control had pegboard
with complete images, like the whole board was nothing but a solid image, and I was thinking,
wait a minute, did they sublimate that, or did they screen print on that, or what? So, we're
going to test out sublimating on this metal shelf here, and then this is just a test, but what I
would like to do is put it on the pegboard, but for now, we're going to test it out on this metal
shelf because I can carry this around easier than I can take that pegboard down. Yeah, I'm not taking
that pegboard down last minute, and then we've done this in the past, but I wanted to show it
again how you can sublimate on melamine. So, this is that black and white melamine that you would get
from Home Depot. Like one side's whiteboard, the other side's chalkboard. Yep, and so we've cut this
out. We're gonna do our little gnome, our girl gnome. She's in multiple pieces this morning.
Maybe I can show you. Fresh off the laser. Yeah, I did a quick paint on her yesterday,
and then I was like, wait a minute, now she's a smurf. Yeah, yeah, she needs a blue nose. She looks
a little like a smurf this morning with her blue dress, but it's gonna go with the hats that I've
chosen for her. So, we're gonna sublimate her hat. I think it's the white hat that really makes her look like a smurf.
All right, well good. Because we all had white hats, right? We're gonna, then I think we can fix it.
Except Papa Smurf. We're gonna do our little pigtail bows as well. Oh, got a bunch of comments. I'm
sleeping on the comments. Good morning, Patrice, East Texas lady. Good morning from East Texas.
Jose from Connecticut. Sherry, Jennifer. Good morning, Chris. Sherry. Oh, I'm repeating them
now. Edna, Jason. More from Texas. You guys are up early if you're in Texas. Yeah, what is this
before work there? 7 a.m. And Pat, real food. Yes, thanks for catching this live. I don't know if you
guys know what we're doing, but we're trying five TikTok sublimation hacks today. Well, I guess one
is the one that you made up. Yes, well, yeah. I didn't see this one on TikTok, but I want to try
this one. So, it made it to the list, but here are the others. No, yeah. So, we went through the melamine.
We've done it before, but I did come across this on TikTok. I also came across this one,
which we've talked about, but I'm not sure that we've actually tried or we've never tried it.
So, we have painted this hat with just a typical acrylic paint, and then we gave a coat of
polycrylic on it. And so, we're trying to sublimate on this polycrylic. So, we'll see how these two
compare. They're just two different hats with two different mediums on them. And then the other
that I saw that I thought was pretty cool is sublimating on paper bags. So, I tried to find
a white paper bag, but I couldn't. So, I have some other. She grabbed every other color. Yeah, I have
some other light colors that I think will sublimate. And what I saw on TikTok was you spray
this with a quick coat of polycrylic or whatever Garrett's using. I think it's like polyacrylic.
I don't know. I couldn't find out like what kind of paint it was. So, my eyes aren't that good.
We will see if this works, but they have a very, very light coat. They dried in 10 minutes.
Like on the can. Oh, 10 minutes. So, we're going to sublimate on these bags and see what we can get
to work there. I sprayed it into the wind today. So, my eyes feel glazed. I also saw where you can
sublimate on napkins. Now, do you think I have to spray those too? Well, you know what I think
would be cool is that you could do like party napkins for somebody's birthday or a graduation
and you can put their names on it. Maybe, but then you're going to wipe your face on it. I don't know.
Well, they're decorative. Use it as a dessert napkin and then I would just leave that to the
big guys that make napkins. And here's the last one. We're going to do bath mats. I don't know
if you guys, if you've been on TikTok, you've probably seen this one. I have not seen this one.
You have not seen them? No. Well, I have and so I want to sublimate on this bath mat. So, we're
going to try this one too and I hope I'm not too loud in my mic with some of these materials.
All right. Is that everything? Is that all five? One, two, three, four, five. Napkins are a bonus.
Oh, napkins are a bonus. Get to the napkins. Yeah. So, what's the first one, Kim? So,
step one, make all your cuts. I cut everything out on the Glowforge last night. That's step two.
Step one was gather all your supplies. I made them all sublimation pieces so we could sublimate
each piece but Kim voted no. Yeah, I just wanted to sublimate a pattern on the hat and the bows.
So, that's what we're going to do. You want to start with that? Yeah, let's start with the hat
because that that's cool. And then I can glue it together while you're doing your napkins or
something. All right. Let's... So, I have some things pre-printed so that you didn't have to
wait for me to find images. You know how that goes and print them out. So, we did print them yesterday
and now I'm just going to lay my hat face down right on my printed paper. We're going to tape
it down with our high heat tape. High heat. Getting that high heat tape. You guys see our
super cool dispenser I've got here? I love this thing. Oh, Frederica's here from Mississippi.
What's up, Mississippi? Oh, Jason says it's only 8 10. They're only an hour behind us.
That's not too bad. That's not too bad. Oh, Jennifer has been traveling in her Airstream.
That is cool. That is what I wanted. So fun. We want a camper. Yeah. We won't take the plunge to
buy one. Nikki D in VA. We're in VA. We're also in VA. We're in the Richmond area. All right.
We've got our little, what is this called? Why have I just drawn a blank? Allison. Melamine.
That's right. That's where I edit things out right there. We've got this all taped up. Yep.
We've got our little press pad here and then we have a piece of our meat hugger butcher paper.
Not sponsored. Although, I think they should be after we've got a whole box of it.
I got a big roll. It went in deep. All right. What am I doing? All right. So on melamine,
I don't even know if it says that on here. It says hardboard. Hardboard. There you go.
That's hardboard. All right. 400 degrees. 100 seconds. Wow. That's 100 seconds. You want to
read some comments and answer some comments. Well, yeah, you want to. Yes. Do it that way.
We'll go 60 seconds, then 40 seconds. I did the math that quick. It's early. Jen wants to know
what she missed on Tuesday. We don't discuss what happened on Tuesday. She said, was it my sign? Tell
me they finally made my sign. I did make your sign, but I got in trouble for making your sign.
Yes, he did. He did. He definitely did. But when I'm done here, I'll go get your sign.
I'll go get your sign. Do not get distracted. I'm not. I'm just getting the sign. If Tanner
were here on time, you know, he could go get the sign. But I hope he's watching from home,
feeling guilty that he's late this morning. So Candace didn't want to miss the didn't want to
ruin the surprise. Did you catch what Garrett did on Tuesday? And she said she didn't want to
ruin the surprise. Candace told her it was gorgeous. Oh, it is. Oh, Yulia is here from
Queensland, Australia. Oh, awesome. I don't even know what time it is in Australia right now.
New Jersey, Cincinnati. Jennifer says, do I go watch Tuesday video now or wait?
You got to wait, Jennifer. All right. Oh, my goodness. Nikki D says I'm in the DMV,
so not too far from y'all. Oh, yeah. You're right down the street. Yeah. The DMV on Brook Road.
On Brook Road. That is really giving it away now. Yeah, it's right here.
She goes, it's not epic if you get an earful. That was good. All right. We'll do the reveal.
I don't know. I guess it doesn't look like it. You can usually tell if it's worked because
you would see the pattern through. You want to take a peek? Take a peek. Oh, yeah, it worked.
Hold on. Let me switch to overhead. Oh, wait. We'll do side cam. I think that's a better view.
No, overhead is a good view. All right. Let's see what we got. Ready?
Yeah, that came out OK. I thought they'd be a little more vibrant, a little more vibrant.
I did, too. But look, it's peeling up. Maybe it's too long. Yeah, that was too long. How long
would you put it in for? I was going to say seconds. I would say like 80 seconds is what I
80 seconds. 20 less seconds. 20. Yeah. All right. So I am fast on the math today.
I am like a math magician. I would go. All right. Where's your side cam? So we can kind of show
right here. It was too hot, too hot, too long. So it looks really cute. You guys see that
little guy is cute. But if you can see with this one, see how well you can see that
it's actually peeling up the MDF, the melamine on top. Yeah. All the melamine is wrinkled.
Yeah, I think it didn't wrinkle last time I did it. Like when I did the hello sign.
Yeah. Well, I think we probably didn't go that long. It said what did we use?
Hardboard. But I think I think for this one, because of that coating,
we should have done like 80 seconds. But it's a cute little hat. See,
when I did the hello sign, it didn't do any cracking. Came out awesome. Yeah. Kim refuses
to put it up. Garrett brought that from out of nowhere. I don't even I don't even know where
that was. Oh, it's over here in storage because you'd refuse to try to sell it. I tell myself
it's because you love it so much. I do love it so much. You don't want to part with it.
I do. I do. Jen, Jen, you there, Jen? You ready? Oh, in time in Australia, 11, 17 p.m.
11, 17 p.m. Cool. That is cool. But Nikki says meant the D.C. area. That's the hip term.
All right. All right. Ready, Jen? I hope you're still there. Can you give me a
drumroll? That's pretty good. Yes.
I haven't hung it up yet, but it's going right in the bathroom door.
All right. All right. Let's move on. Let's move on. We don't want to bore everybody with
Jen's bathroom sign. Are we going to try the other hat? All right. Well, yeah, I mean,
we might as well just go straight in with the other hat. Agreed. Do you want to do
sunflowers? Doesn't really match your dress. Do you want to do fireworks? I think sunflower might
we might be able to tell if it's a good a good take a good substrate with the sunflowers. All
right. Let's do it. All right. We're just going to tape it down again. Yeah. Tape it down. Oh,
we didn't do her bows on this one, but that's OK. What bows?
Her little pigtail bows. I was sublimating those as well. Oh, I forgot to paint those.
My bad. But you know what? I have. Now, do you think we should do like a full minute on this
guy? Yeah, I think one minute. The one flat minute at 400. Yes. Do you wait? Aren't you
supposed to have. Oh, where's your. Here it is. Yeah. All right. Butcher paper materials,
sublimation paper. We're going face down with special sauce, lettuce, cheese. Oh,
not face down. It's a sesame seed bun and our Teflon sheet. You let me get through all my
special sauce. I was waiting for you to come back with Teflon sheet instead of the sesame seed bun.
All right. What's happening over here? Oh, Jen says she loves it.
I thought it was funny. I wanted it to look classy, like something you'd see in a like a 1920s
theater, like going to the theater. When did you go to Wawa and get a cup of coffee? Yesterday.
Yesterday? Did you refill that cup? Yes. Oh, she says you're the best. She wants to know who's
giving you crap about it. She wants a word with them. It's me, Jen. Go back and watch the Tuesday
live and you will see how distracted Garrett was. He was not focused on the live at all. He was too
busy trying to paint your sign just so he could get to the wheel of DIY. You got to go check that
out. It's pretty awesome wheel of DIY, although I'm not sure it's going to get any use now.
The manager has got a problem with it.
Yeah, go ahead. Let's go overhead. Ready? Ready. Three, two. Oh, it's stuck. Oh, it's stuck.
So this is that one where you take a little water and a sponge and wipe it off. All right.
Well, in the meantime, I wanted to tell you that James is here from Nova Scotia, Canada.
Oh, well, interesting. It's kind of peeling up. So hot. It's hard to peel up. So if I have to
sponge it off. Wait, what are you doing? I was going to go ahead and peel it off.
But I feel like you may be peeling off paint. Let me wet it first. Oh, I didn't know you're
going to wet it from the outside. Interesting. Interesting to wet it down. It's still really hot.
All right. If you just joined us, we are doing TikTok sublimation hacks. This one is painted
wood. It's painted with acrylic paint and then covered with polycrylic spray. No, we actually
coated it with poly with like paintable polycrylic. Excuse me. And then, yeah,
we painted it with this. Let it dry. Let it dry overnight just to make sure it was dry, dry.
And now we've sublimated on it, but now it's sticking. So. Oh, there you go. That way,
I just peeled off the whole image with it. Oh, wait, maybe I didn't. Hold on. Oh, there it is.
He's got it figured out. Hold on. Let's let's keep this. OK, that's all right. I might have
messed it up if I hadn't messed with it. No, no, no. Don't keep don't keep doing it. No,
no, because that's going to peel up those peeling up the spray, the polycrylic spray.
Can you guys still see overhead? Let's move this out of the way.
I tried to zoom in. It keeps resetting. You want me to do the side the side camera?
Oh yeah. Try the side cam. Where's that right here? Side cam. Side cam. Is that a better view?
I don't know. I feel like if I have to do this much work, I would just cut it at a.
Melanin? I don't know. This does seem like it was a little darker. I mean,
look how super vibrant. It actually worked great. Yeah, it actually came out pretty good.
So he just cooled off the back with a sponge. He wet the back with a sponge and then he was
able to peel it right up. And then now he's just I don't know what you're peeling off paper.
Yeah, I think it's like paper residue. Yeah. All right. Let's show the camera.
Yeah. Look at that. Oh, it's great. Still scraping this off, but oh yeah, looks good.
All right. I'll continue to clean this up if you want to move on to what we're doing. All right.
What do you guys think of that one? That's pretty cool. I think I got to rinse my sponge.
There's a lot of residue. Residue. Residont. Residont. All right. Let's get this out of here.
And let's try the next thing. All right. We've done our two
elf hats. Let's move on to something cool. What else are we going to do? Elf hats.
I mean, what are they? Nomads. Elf hats. Two different mythical creatures. All right. I've
got we got paper everywhere now. All right. That's pretty cool. Yeah. What do you guys want to try
next? Let's see. Let's see. Let's see. You want to see the metal shelf? Yeah. I want to see the
metal shelf. All right. Let's do that. You're going to have to get out of here with that thing.
Go on now. And then. Take your elf hat and get. For this one, I picked a cute little image
that says, I can totally make that. I don't know how well you can see that. I can totally make
that. But I'm going to trim it and then we're going to sublimate it. So for this, you can cut
it or you can tear it so that you can't really see. Can you slap it up, flip it and rub it down?
I'm trying to make a rough edge so you can't really tell where the image stops.
Oh, you think it'll matter on the metal? I don't know. I don't think so. But it shouldn't be
anything on that paper, right? It's like if it was white, it doesn't it didn't get printed. Yeah.
It's assuming that's assuming. Yeah. They say about assuming. All right. Well, I went ahead
and tore it anyway. All right. I have our image pared down and you tape it down. Are you going
to be able to. It's a little bit better. I'm going to hang it off the edge of the mat. Oh,
I got something here. All right. Tape it down. Now, if this works, we can do the peg wall behind
us and make something cool on that. Some pieces. OK, great work. All right. So again, what I saw
would be. Oh, yeah. Melamine 60 seconds. I already did the math earlier. All right. So metal. No,
this is metal. We're going to do 80 to 90 seconds. 80 to 90 seconds. And don't move it.
Don't jiggle it. Don't wiggle it. Don't jiggle it. All right. I'm going in. Go in. Go for it.
You got this. Not that way. Oh, no, the cord will be out of the way. Yeah, I'm good. I'm in there.
Boop. All right. That's 60. You've got it marked for 60. Yeah. I'll just do it for another 20.
Man, my math skills this morning on point. Are you killing it? Killing it. Rico says
use parchment paper with a polycrylic. Oh. As opposed to what? You have to put the sublimation
paper down. No, wouldn't you? Can you print sublimation ink on parchment paper
and then would it come off better? No. I think so. Rico will have to explain that.
Let's see. Cindy says two favorite things together. Gnomes and a sunflower.
I think it pushed too hard. It turned off. It said error. Oh, wow. How hard were you pushing?
I don't know. But it needed a firm press. All right. We're at 30 minutes. So we got to get
moving. We got to get through the rest of these cool substrates here. Okay. It's cooled down.
Why are you punching buttons? Garrett has hit temperature. He has hit. Well, it's not counting
down. So they gave me an error. I think you're good. You're good. All right. I'm good. Killing
it. I did kill it. All right. Careful. That's going to be so hot. Be careful. Oh, yep. The
Teflon sheet from the other ones left a little ghosting. All right. Don't put that on this.
Oh, yeah. Mess that up. There we go. All right. Let's see. Let's see what you got.
I think you got to be on this side. See what I'm working with. Camera's a little bit further this
way. Oh, that's some hot metal. Yeah. That looked pretty good. We're such newbies. What are we doing?
Who's a newbie, Kim? Me. Yeah. Guys, what did I do wrong already? Half of you should have already
picked up on it. Yeah, Kim, what are you doing? Now we can only look at this thing in the mirror
when it's underneath all the paints. And I'm thinking
that thing is backwards. That is a mirrored image on that shelf that we can't see.
Butcher paper substrate with polycrylic parchment. Interesting. Oh, OK.
This. So this worked great, except I forgot to mirror the image.
That means all of these need to be fixed. Oh, really? Yeah. You didn't mirror any of them?
Oh, you sure didn't. Look at that. Be sure to mirror your images.
You're just like you went in deep, too. Well, you know what? I have them all saved on the
computer in there and they're up. This metal is hot, but it did work. No, you can't see.
But do a side view. Give me a little side cam. Looking good, huh? Oh, hey, we should have flipped
the footage and then it would look good. It would look correct. No, I think it looks good.
Just yeah, it's it's backwards. Otherwise, otherwise, I think that looks great. And we
should let me do all of the shelves behind us mirrored and then hidden messages in them.
Let me go print some more of our logo real quick and then we can do that mirrored. Yeah,
just one second. Well, I'll start gluing the. What are we doing next?
Was it going to be the bags? It was going to be the bags, but it was going to be the bags.
All right, come here, Smurfett, get you glued down.
I'll read some comments while I'm glued. Do you have these cut files? Oh, yeah. Oh,
I'm like a professional. Usually do, but what kind of paper? Try wiping. I don't know how to
make it reflect residue. Yeah, this was the paper residue is really hard to get off. Well,
I guess not really hard to go. It just took a little bit more elbow grease than I would expect.
I thought that I would press it down and rip the paper off. Looks good.
How's it going in there? I don't see anything happening on the printer.
I need I need you to come do it for me. OK, OK, come talk to some people.
I glued the the elf together. Here's rotate, but I don't know how to reflect. Let's do it
as we print it. OK, I couldn't get it to reflect. So now we have to do something else.
Oh, I have an idea. We can do a bag with a pattern image because this won't matter.
Good thing we started with patterns. So we have our little paper bag here.
See, it's just a regular old paper bag. I wanted it in a little bag like this, but I couldn't find
an all white one. We did. I did go ahead and get the polka dot one. We can try it on that one.
But since he sprayed this, did you spray the little white bag? Yeah, I sprayed them all.
All right. Let's go ahead and try this bag with this printed image. All right. Let's make sure
my butcher paper didn't have any ink on it. And then since this is a pattern, I think I'm just
going to lay it on top there. No, I'm still going to tape it down just in case. And I'm going to
double check the settings for paper. Everything is 400. I'm just going to do this for a lot fewer
seconds because we're not trying to burn this thing up. Don't move. Candice is out there shouting
us out. I do appreciate that. I got to go back and see what Jen has to say. All right. I was
plenty of time. Oh, and it worked like a champ. Look at that. Well, a little not quite in the
middle. And I think that's because of uneven pressure on the table. Let's see. But it does
work. I think we'll have to tweak that a little bit. Let me get a side cam and show you. Can you
see? You see that that is fireworks. Now, I don't know why the center didn't quite work right.
There's our paper. I just put our bag right down on it. You think I needed more time? Maybe I
needed more time. I was afraid I was going to burn it up. But where it did work, I mean, look how cool
that is. Oh, I think I see. On the back of the bag. Can you see on the camera? The back of the
bag. It's the sides. The sides took. Well, there's a fold in there. Look. Oh, hey, that came out pretty
good. That was better than I expected. Yeah, it's really cool. You can reuse that. It doesn't look
like it all came off. Well, that's why I said, should I have gone a little bit longer?
But where it did work, I mean, it looks really cool. Garrett's got some images printing for us.
Did you just mirror it right on the printer settings? No, I couldn't get to them. You have
like limited drivers on here. Do you think you can do this one for me? What's that one?
You'll see it says piece is a tab. It's all in the same document, all ready to go. Just print it
and reflect it if you can. Yeah. All right. All right. Let's see here. I am going to
keep moving so that we can get through all of these different materials that we have, even though
I was not thinking yesterday. Do as I say, not as I do. We often say that to you guys.
All right. Use our little paper trimmer here to trim up some of our little logos.
And our logos are what I was planning to put on the bags. But I had an extra
pattern paper, so I thought we'd use that. All right. What else can I put this on?
He is going to reprint my image correctly for the mats. So we'll have to wait on the mats just one
second. There we go. Turn that back on. And while we're waiting, let's try the napkin. I don't have
any spray or anything on it, but we could give it a try. Let's see. Hopefully we don't burn up
this napkin. We're going to put our little logo right on this napkin and see what happens.
I'm going to use a little bit of tape. And if this works, I'll show you.
That has been used before. There we go. I'll show you the brand and everything.
400. We're going to go 45 seconds. What does it mean to reflect it? So you'll want to print it
mirror image. Because I didn't print mirror image, it came out on our metal plate mirrored,
so backwards. So you want to print it on your paper backwards, so that when you lay it down,
it's forward on your image or your item that you're pressing on.
That's 30 seconds. I don't want to go too hot. Hey. All right. Garrett, somebody's at the door.
Somebody was right on the other side of the camera, knocking on our door. But hey, look at that.
There's a TikTok hack that definitely worked. Let's see. Side cam. Look at that.
She left it at this door here. That worked great. Now let me show you what napkins I used.
Let me go back to main cam. I put them right here. So if you ever want to do any party napkins with
someone's name or graduation and customize them right here, I use these Vanity Fair
everyday napkins. This one says two times thicker than the leading two ply napkin. So it's a little
bit different. It's not red. It's actually purple, but it is those Vanity Fair napkins. So that
turned out great. Look at this. Oh, wow. It turned out super cool. That's nothing on there. It's just
the napkin. Just a napkin. I just pressed our logo right on it. Yeah. So that's awesome. That's
pretty cool. That's a TikTok hack that worked. I wonder how much a sublimation ink costs versus
getting custom napkins. Yeah, getting custom napkins. I think that would be expensive.
All right. I got you over here. That one's done. Only one page came out. Did you grab the second
page? All right. So for the last one, for the fun one, we are going to do the bath mats. You guys
let me know if anybody's seen the bath mats on TikTok. You can sublimate your own bath mat.
These are from Walmart and they are 100% polyester. So I'm going to do the little one first
and see how it goes. Kind of cool. I'm excited about this one. So for this one, I'm going to
trim the image. It's going to fit on this center square here and it is larger than an eight and a
half by 11 sheet of paper. So we are going to tape our image together. We're going to trim it and tape
it because it says I had it set to print page one of one. Oh, so change. Surprise. I did that to him.
Do you see where I set that file print? Yeah. On it. On it. All right. I'm going to trim this image
down and then I'm going to tape it to the other half. All right. You want to say something? You've
gone a while. Hi. I'm back. That's how I do all day. I just like. All right. And here's the second
half of our image. And should we? Yeah, I wouldn't do the second half. You think so? You're going to
trim that piece too? Well, I didn't want it to be two layers and then I don't think the sublimation
will come out even. So I'm going to tape these two together. Oh, Maria was late to the live. We just
sprayed it with this stuff. Krylon Color Max. It's the clear crystal clear. I'm supposed to use
polyacrylic. I think this is I don't know. It worked though, right? Yeah. Did you do the bags yet?
I did. Well, you saw the bag. Oh, yeah, I did see the bag. Here it is. But I think we can try again.
Yeah, I made a mess over here. Stuff is everywhere. All right. We have our image tape together.
Oh, is this the bath mat? Yes. Oh, yeah. I'm very skeptical of the bath mat. All right. Let's see.
Should I just do like a little taping? Yeah, just a little taping. A little taping. A little taping.
All right. It's a bad tape job. How long how long is this one? So bath mat, we're going to go 60 seconds.
I'm going to have to do it in two sections, right? Yeah, I think so. Because it's a little bit long.
60 and 60. It's 120. Look at, oh man, with the math today. Mike Garrett can't normally do math.
I am on top of it with the addition. Oh, Debbie says lint roll it first. Oh, Debbie, I missed it.
Haste makes waste. Oh, so Rico says use the parchment paper, not a Teflon sheet. Oh, yeah.
Okay. Because then you get rid of the, I noticed that the Teflon sheet has like ink residue that I
cannot see. That's why. It looks clean. We stopped using them because of that same thing. Yeah.
What is happening over here? Things under things. I have a mess. And yes, we're going to use this,
this pink stuff is just butcher paper. I have the roll. I'll show you guys what it is that we're
using. It's under, it's by Garrett's feet. So let me reach down here and grab it. Oh,
I turned it off. All right. We got this on Amazon. This is meat hugger butcher paper.
So it's pink. And I was super skeptical at first as to whether or not it would work. I haven't
glued her together. I could start it together. But it works great. The pink does not mess up
anything. It has been, it's been great. All right. I don't want to, I got the extension
cord down here. No, I'm trying to trip over it. Yeah. Then we could catch it on film and
then submit it to America's Funniest Home Videos. Win $10,000. I have another one. I want to do this
image for our bath mat. It says get naked. Just kidding. This is a half bath. Don't make it weird.
I love this one. I think it's so funny and I think it'd be great for a bath mat
for a half bath downstairs. But that one didn't have a lot of color. So I really want to showcase
what sublimation can do. So that's why we chose this image. All right. Got both sides. This will
go in a teen's bathroom. All right. I'm thinking it looks pretty good. We'll see. We'll see how it
goes. Still skeptical. Oh wow. Wow. That was a lot more vibrant than I thought it would be.
That is great. That came out great. Yeah. Just rough it up. Oh, it's still hot.
Oh my gosh. Look at that. All right. Stand corrected. I stand corrected.
Look at that. That is awesome. All right. I'm totally going to do that again. TikTok hack
confirmed. Isn't that a great gift idea? Didn't seem to mess it up either. Yeah. It still feels
good. Yeah. With paper everywhere. Yeah. TikTok hack confirmed. Here. Yeah. Side cam. Let's see.
Show you guys. You guys see that? It looks so cool. I don't know if it looks as vibrant on
film. Yeah. I don't think it's really coming across how bright and perfect these colors came
out. Look at that. Yeah. That's pretty good. I was expecting it to look more like the melamine. So
impressed. Was that it? Was that all of them? That is it. Right. So our five substrates were
our melamine, our polycrylic paint over wood, our metal. Let's just say how they did. All right.
We never finished the gnome lady. Did you glue her little nose on? I did. So we can swap her hats
in. I just didn't put her hands or anything on. I don't know. This looks good. This looks good.
I know. Hold this up. Put this hat up. Yeah. All right. So let's run through the hacks.
Hack number one was the shelf, right? Well, no. Hack number one was this
sublimating on the hats. One was using melamine and one was using the painted
wood with polycrylic spray over it. So I'd say melamine one out of ten. I think it got a seven
today because I think we went too deep on the heat too long. But I've seen it do great before. So
yeah, I still get I'll give it an eight overall. It's not perfect sublimation material.
And then this, I don't know, this polyacrylic on there, although it did rip on the corner.
Well, I'm going to have to deduct some points for the exit. I think I pulled that off. I shouldn't
have been messing with it before you wiped it down. But how much it pops? I would give it
an eight. Eight out of ten. I'm a harsh critic. Then what was the next one? It was the metal,
yes. This one's hard to see because of the reflection back there, but it's not super
vibrant, but it did work. It did sublimate on this, which is pretty cool. Too bad I didn't
mirror my image. I would give this a seven out of ten because I think it could pop a little more.
Well, they were watercolors, so they're not going to be super vibrant anyway.
But I did want to show lots of color. I'm sticking with seven out of ten. I'll go with I'll give you
that. I'll give you that. Next was our bag. Oh, I have a can in it. Your standing bag. There you go.
Now, where it wasn't on the seam, that's a ten. Yes. Where it wasn't on the seam,
that's definitely a ten. The seam. Oh, it's because the bag was folded there. That's what
I was trying to say. Where the bag was folded, it came out beautifully. And in the center,
where there is no fold on the inside, I just, I think it didn't get enough pressure. I should
have pushed on it harder. Sounds like a pressure thing. But I would give that,
I give it a ten out of ten. Yeah, that works great. For the places that it did do well.
And if you had enough pressure. I give it a ten out of ten. Cancel. Hopefully that worked.
Hopefully it canceled everybody's Alexis too. In case you had something happening.
All right, and then I did the napkin. Oh, the napkin. Napkin came out great. What came out?
Ten out of ten. Do you think ten out of ten? I mean, come on, it's a napkin. Yeah,
I think the blacks could be blacker. I think it could pop a little more. Harsh critic. Eight out
of ten. Come on. Okay, I'll give you eight out of ten. But now, the bath mat. Ten out of ten. Ten
out of ten. Shocked and surprised. Flabbergasted. I love this one. Look at that. Yeah, it came out
really nice. I am, it's almost like it was meant to be sublimated on. You should get a white one
next time. Well, I mean, I think this was as white as it came. I think so. I mean, look at it.
It's just a slightly off white. I don't know if you guys can tell. It's maybe a slight ivory
color to it. Yeah, it's like very pale tan. All right, I think everything worked. We didn't have
any fails, right? Well, I mean, maybe some of the things are backwards. I thought you were going to
go for the Teflon sheet. No. They like the mat. Yeah, the mat's cool. Minnesota Makes said she
didn't know we were going to be live today. We didn't know. We didn't know we were going to be
live. This was a last minute thing because of a project. Fail. Well, not a fail. Project in
progress. It's taking a lot longer than I thought. Yes, project in progress is what that is. Like we did a
resin pour Wednesday and it's still pliable. Somebody was surprised you could do a napkin.
So was I? Yeah, I don't know. And we did it with the EasyPress. Yep, I did it all with the EasyPress.
All with the EasyPress. We are going to get a new heat press because we're doing a lot more
with sublimation and while the EasyPress works great, I think that bag with the right amount
of constant consistent pressure would have come out perfectly. Yeah, I think so too. If we were using an
actual heat press. So we're gonna we had a heat press and we were consistent. Less jiggling, less
wiggling. Definitely. 32 likes, 82 watching. Show KNG your support. Yes, thank you Candice. Yes, thank you
everybody for our support. Yes. Big thanks to our patrons. I'd usually scroll them but you guys know
who you are. We love you guys. We interact daily. We had a great patron call on Wednesday. Oh yeah, that
was a good call. That was fun. We talked for about an hour and a half. So if you guys want to
chit-chat with us once a month, talk business, talk ideas. That's what we do Wednesday, the second
Wednesday of the month or third Wednesday of the month. Showcase your animals. All right.
Jennifer says she needs to come up with another project idea. Yeah, come up with another project
idea and put it on the Wheel of DIY. Oh, that's right. Well, do you want to show them your wheel?
You don't have time. No, not now. Come back on Tuesday. Carrot's Wheel of DIY is complete and
we'll tell you all about it and what we plan to do with it. Oh, it's going to be fun. You guys get to
vote. Well, we are about out of time. So if you're not going to join us for the patron after show,
we will see you on Tuesday. And then next week, we'll build it and make it again.
I'll shimmy over here so you can shimmy over there. I tripped over the cord. I know. It's the whole thing.
