BAREFOOT BRITAIN_ Episode 4
Good morning, it's my first day on Orkney and I had a good sleep, really good sleep,
in a lovely bed, so nice. I didn't run yesterday because I was getting from the Shetland Islands
to Orkney. But I'm really tired and I'm tired because there was so much logistical shenanigans
yesterday, it was driving me nuts. I'm trying to get my main bag which is the big yellow bag
I can't run with and it's being passed along by the lovely people of Britain.
It's being signed along the way and it's really cool but the fact that I'm going to have to do
that, goodness knows how many times on this journey, just makes me want to pull my hair out.
So at the cathedral we've got a crack squad of people to cheer me on and Tiffany is even
going to run with me which is pretty awesome. We've got Carol, Fiona and Natalie who've come
to wave me off which is much appreciated and it's a beautiful cathedral isn't it?
Tiffany gone, she ran with me for about an hour, what a trooper. I'm telling myself that this
horrible tarmac and the lack of being able to run on the verge is going to change at the turn
off in half a mile and if it doesn't change I think I might throw my toes out the crack.
So look, this is what keeps happening, the bits of stone get stuck with the tar
to the bottom of my foot.
Painful.
Ready, go!
Let's see what's going on with my feet today, a few problems, that is a really sore point there.
What on earth is that? That is a bit of something that needs to come out of my foot.
What a totally mad day, so much madness. Naughty tarmac, really rough tarmac, rough verges,
got really tired towards the end and even had some people come out and wave at the side of
the road that had been following me online and they came out of their house and I said,
are you for me? And they said, yeah of course we're for you, they were so lovely.
And they ended up giving me a ride back to Kirkwall this evening. Oh my gosh, just madness.
Thank you very much girls, thank you so much, you've made my day.
