Follow Peter Schade inside the workshop at the National Gallery to learn how his team created replica Renaissance frames fit for Titian's mythological paintings.
Frames are something essential but many might overlook. A frame can ensure the safety of a painting and prevent damage.
About aesthetics, a frame cannot only affect the physical appearance of the artwork, but it can also add value and work as a tool to draw viewers into the painting and view it as a whole.
Some frames can even increase the value of the artwork inside when placed in it, especially when it comes to vintage picture frames.

In the final part of this video, Matthias Wivel, Curator of 16th-century Italian paintings and exhibition curator, shows how these frames enhance the masterpieces known as Titian's "poesie".
