Hi it's Pat Patterson with the Best in California and I'm here with my daughter
Liza Patterson. Liza what time of year is it? It's Halloween!
And we're down on Hollywood Boulevard our annual pilgrimage to Hollywood toy and costume.
Why do we do this? We have a huge scare house of over 2,000 trick-or-treaters at our house every
year. He's been doing it since I was about four years old and we come down here every year and
I used to dress up like crazy people with my friends just head-to-toe costumes. Yeah you and
your friends. Liza would help me build these monsters. Still helps me build these monsters.
We're going to do some later this afternoon. We like to make the the monsters out of what?
We do PVC pipes. We do you know oscillating fans to make them look like they're moving.
Upside down milk cartons and put a put a mask on top of there. It's all very eco-friendly. I
always liked that you did that too. We recycle and what are we doing this year for our costumes?
We're getting some beatboxing skeleton boy wigs for me because you're gonna be
David Pumpkins. Any questions? So let's go check out the inside
of Hollywood toy and costume an institution. They were a Halloween superstore before there
even those existed. Let's check it out. I'm excited. Liza where are we? We're in the skeleton aisle.
This is the skeleton aisle. We'll show you and what have you found? Did you did you come
across anything at all? No not yet nothing too interesting just some baubles. So have you seen
that documentary My Teacher the Octopus at all? No no. You might like it. It's been on my mind
lately though. Liza where are we now at Hollywood Toy and Costume? We're in my favorite section the
wig section. Now one of your memories coming down here was to see what famous sports figure
down at the magic store. It was Muhammad Ali and at the time I did not know how important it was
that I saw him. And Muhammad Ali was a big magic fan. He loved to do magic tricks for people and
we found him buying some magic tricks. You saw somebody else in this particular department that
you fell in love with as a kid and who was that? It was this fabulous drag queen that used to work
here and I just thought that she was a superstar like I thought she was the coolest person I'd
ever met in my life. Every time we'd come here I'd run to the wig department and be like it's me
again it's Liza. That's perfect. What do you think? I think it's perfect. It's not the David
