Portugal just keeps locking itself into our hearts and Lisbon is a city full of options for exploration both Culinary and Physical. In today's Portugal adventure we find some amazing Lisbon local food at the recommendation one of the wonderful local staff at Selina Lisbon. We follow this up with a hike to the heights surrounding the city in search of the best overview of the gorgeous city of Lisbon Portugal. We save the true MAGIC of this weeks' journey until the end as Kattie gets to experience her very first Christmas Market in Europe..and then the LIGHTS COME ON! 🤙🙏❤

The local staff said this was a great local restaurant.
Ew, what are those?
We just found an awesome tea shop.
This elevator was built in 1902.
Thank goodness we had all that training on the cruise ship.
It was well worth the climb.
Tile walls in Portugal are so unique.
My first Christmas market in Europe.
It's all Maria's fault.
I bought a...
This is the restaurant we tried to go to yesterday that was full.
But we got here early today.
The local staff said this was a great local restaurant.
Two minutes after we got here, this place got packed.
So I don't read Portuguese and I just decided to get the house special.
Oh, what are those?
Our favorite.
It has peas, which I'm not a fan of, but I'm gonna eat them anyway.
Oh, that's good.
It's a tomato-based, kind of a little bit spicy stew, meat stew.
I think I'm really happy I got this.
This is really good and very comforting.
And these dishes were $6 a piece.
You have to pay extra for the bread.
Stew, I have to have bread.
My favorite thing in the world is bacon with rind and this has rind on it.
I'm in heaven.
Yep, that's good.
I'd have to give it a solid nine.
It was really good.
If you want good local food for six to seven euros a plate,
cannot recommend this place.
They have great food, great service.
It is busy.
Oh yeah, we came right at noon when they opened and there was a few seats.
Within about 10 minutes, it was completely booked and there was a line out the door.
So come early or wait long.
It's not a fast place, but it's fantastic.
So definitely recommend Caporto.
And we will thank Mafalda at the Salina for the recommendation.
Great job.
And we'll throw a map into the location now.
We just found an awesome tea shop.
Something I love about Lisbon is all the handmade crafts.
This is a candle shop and yesterday when we walked past they were making the candles.
It's like five euros a person to go up there with the elevator.
I heard that you can use the escalators in H&M to get up there for free.
So let's try it.
Well, that was a bust.
We went up to the second floor and there's no way out.
So we came back down to the third floor and from the fourth floor,
came back down to the third floor.
There's different arts and crafts on each side as you're walking.
It's pretty cool.
This elevator was built in 1902 and is five years apiece.
And that's the line for this elevator.
So we'll pass.
We're going to walk.
Where we're headed to, it has the best views in the city.
That's it up there.
Long walk.
I like charging our own course better than using the map
because then we just happen on stuff like this.
Thank goodness we had all that training on the cruise ship
because now this climbing begins.
And climbing.
And this isn't even the top yet.
Guess what?
We're climbing.
This view says it all.
It was well worth the climb.
That's the castle we were supposed to be going to.
I'll have to go to that next.
And that's who this lookout is named for.
Vielen Dank, Felicite.
Many thanks to Felicite, a German friend we made here,
who took our photo for us that we used as our thumbnail on this video.
We are having so much fun watching the planes
landing out of the window of our room.
And there's another one there.
Well, now that we've gotten this beautiful viewpoint scene.
Wow, by the way.
Great job picking this one.
Thank you.
We're going to go to a grocery store and a vintage store.
Hopefully we can find them.
It's the same chain that we found in Porto, Humana.
And so, you know, we're looking for our cold weather clothes
for Germany and Switzerland.
This hasn't been that cold, but I can tell already we're going to need more clothes.
It hasn't been that cold.
It is almost December and it is sunny and 70 degrees.
Lisbon's getting a thumbs up.
Definitely like it.
Yeah.
The tile walls in Portugal are so unique and beautiful.
And I can't get over how cool the sidewalks are.
Hey, good looking.
What you got cooking?
Interrupt this program to bring you the following special report.
I went shopping.
My first Christmas market in Europe.
We're starting out small, though.
I didn't think they were coming on till the first.
This is awesome.
It's all Maria's fault.
I bought a pair of Birkenstocks.
I convinced Krista to buy a pair, too.
She got me to buy Birkenstocks in the winter.
In the winter.
Someday we're going someplace warm.
They feel really comfortable on.
That's good because these are fantastic on my feet.
Let's go home.
Okay.
I've been waiting for these to be lit.
They look far more beautiful than I thought.
This is a light up globe that has every country in the world lit up on it.
It's really cool.
We're on the inside, so it's like backwards.
So right now we're right there.
I'm so glad the lights finally came on.
It really transforms the entire city.
I think it is time for us to go home.
Oh, yes.
Awesome.
Leave the thumbs up and subscribe.
No, that was good.
That was good.
