A thank you and a Merry Christmas

Now then, so I just thought I was just having a nice walk, a lovely walk, and I was thinking I haven't done a video, I haven't done a live for a bit. I might delete this because obviously nobody knows it's going up and it might be rubbish, but that's okay isn't it? That's the beauty of it, you just get rid of it. But what I wanted to say was thank you very much, you know, reflecting on this year with the channel and the show. I just have very few kind of negative comments that are, you know, but they're all very positive, all very supportive, not only of me but of each other, and I just want to say thanks really because I've got the kids later and all that, so that's going to be hectic, and I hope you're all okay. Obviously Christmas is a great time of year, I love it, but it can have challenges for people, especially at the moment with the kind of unknown that we're going into, which does seem, you know, to be subsiding a little bit, and of course lots of people are going to be challenged because of that. Lots of people this year have lost people, which is going to be very very difficult for them, and of course the most important thing is community, is the people around us that can help us and support us, and I feel that about this community, you know, it is something that it's been a constant in challenging times, and it's been really helpful for me. been a really funny one this year, and I'm not gonna lie I'm very slightly hungover today, therefore the walk to get myself out of the house, rather than just lurking around in it, hey Michelle happy got nothing, no agenda, other than thinking oh it'd be nice to go live, so this is near my house in Sheffield, that's why Sheffield's lovely, you can just walk up the road, it's not really magic related, none of this, but and get to places like this, which is good so a couple of recommendations I suppose magic wise, that I haven't reviewed yet, I'll tell you what happened, oh my god the worst, it wasn't the worst, because there's worse things in life, I keep telling myself, I interviewed John Graham the other day, author of Stage by Stage, the new Vanishing Inc book, so first of all, get that if you like, it's really good, it's talking about, the main sort of thesis I suppose, is the idea of how you go from close-up to stage, and how you can actually use a lot of close-up stuff on stage, so it's got kind of, I will do a full review, I haven't finished it yet, but it's got like magician versus gambler, things like that, Harry Lorayne, you know card tricks, he's even got a version of Sybil, the trick from the Chris Kenner book that he does on stage, so really interesting, really interesting read, going into the minutiae of everything about performing, going from close-up to stage, I think it's great, really breaks it down, but yeah I interviewed, we had a lovely chat for about an hour and 20 minutes, an hour and 10 minutes, and zoom didn't record, so that was that, I was gutted, absolutely gutted, so we have to do it again, and I've purposely, it was like a week and a half ago, or maybe a week ago, purposely waited for, until it feels fresh again, because we covered so much ground, it was a really nice rambled chat, as one of my favourite podcasters Adam Buxton would say, but it's just great, and that's gone now, so I'm terrified of recording it again, because if we get to the end and it doesn't record, so I'm going to do it on a different software, I'm going to do it on Ecamm, but I was gutted, but he's such a lovely guy, for a recommendation of the book, oh my gosh, is it called, there's a new packet trick from Big Blind Media, that I've just learnt, John Bannon one, is it called, what's it called, not Razzles, it's based on an Alex Alvey thing, nice, it's really nice, check it out, just go on there Big Blind Media, it's an interesting trick, and I will demo it soon, I've kind of learnt it, so I can demo it, it's a good one to discuss, so that was good, what else, Tiger King 2 was terrible, there you go, not magic related, I'm just talking nonsense now, well I'm going to go in a minute, and put you all out of your misery, hello from Sweden, Anders how are you doing, Sweden's a beautiful part of the world isn't it, I've performed in Sweden before, here Ostersund Great Lakes Festival, blimey about 20 years ago, right so got any questions, ask them now, I'm going to keep walking up this hill, in my kind of breathless unfit state at the moment, I dropped 250 on which hand by Timon Kraus, but I'm scared to open and damage it, oh yeah well 250, a lot of money in it for magic tricks these days, um let me know how it is, love your reviews, Gert, Jan, I've got some great books, thank you, perfect, um Pure Imagination, yeah great book, uh any Trends in Magic you noticed in 2021, let me get back to that, yeah Pure Imagination is a great book, Trends in Magic, I think that there's a real um push for, I'm covering the mic, am I covering the mic, um a real push for the kind of parlour theme, a lot of books came out, is it 2021 that parlour tricks came out, um but yeah and the thought of resurgence in books, it's kind of love for books, I think it, I think there's, I'm just trying to think, there's just loads of stuff, I think there's too much stuff being released, that's what I think is happening, probably because I'm trying to review all it does my head in, um lovely as it is, but there's so much being released and I think um it kind of gets a little bit overwhelming, there's a lot of stuff to sift through, hey that's the, yeah that's another recommendation, I reviewed it, the ABC Spidey thing, great, had a lot of fun with that, um yeah so I'm just trying to think, not really, I think the trend seems to be this, this you know, John, John's book being the latest, in this kind of idea of performing parlour and a lot of people say it's their favourite, which definitely my favourite way to perform and I'm kind of, yeah I'm struggling with the, and of course the big trend was the um the online, the virtual thing, which interestingly people were kind of going, oh it's all over now, we're all going back out there and now it's becoming a reality again, so um performing magic virtually clearly is the big one and it's been a really interesting ride, now I haven't done that for a long time now, so I'm kind of nervous about doing it, is it something I'm going to have to do again, uh I don't know, but creativity I think that's the trend, people seem to be now more into writing theory about how to create magic, bring it onto stage, there's a lot of inspirational stuff coming out, um and fewer, even though they're still there, fewer just sort of magic trick books, saying that um John's book has some great card stuff in it and you know some some really workable stuff in it you can do for close-up as well, stage by stage, oh my gosh I'm knackered, let's have a look, am I going to hell because of my magic?
