Hello guys, welcome to a new video.
Today I wanted to make some kind of story time, more it's advice time, like I know that
I had a lot of struggles and everything about how to prepare yourself for a job interview
and how to get a certain job.
Nowadays, when you get to the interview, they're asking you like really weird questions, they're
going more and more into your privacy, they're asking some questions they should not be allowed
to ask, I would say like that, especially when you're a woman.
Like we all know the questions, are you planning to have a baby, when and how long you're going
to work here?
Also, to that kind of questions, of course, if you want to get a job, you will need to
see in that moment if you're going to be honest or you're going to lie.
In 99% you're going to lie.
Of course you're going to say that you're not planning to be pregnant and that you're
not planning to have a baby soon, because of course you want that job.
So lately, also I'm facing with the things that I really don't understand, it happened
like three times to me, that I went to a job interview and they said that they already
have one candidate who is doing like three days probation, how they work, and then they
will see if they're going to keep that person or they're going to call me or another candidate.
And I was like, I really don't understand, if you already choose someone to go to work
for you for two or three days and to try, then why are you still interviewing other
people?
Why did you call them to listen their story, to listen their interview?
So, I really don't understand that part, but it's happening a lot, especially nowadays,
and especially in Balkan countries.
So it really depends, and I don't know, it depends on you what are you going to say and
what are you going to think about.
Also, lately, that I'm also facing discrimination and judging, I will never remember that conversation
and especially job interview, and I'm so glad that I didn't accept that job, that I decided
to walk away, because the woman asked me what I'm expecting from their company.
The classic question, where do you see in five years, like, especially if you live in
Balkan countries, it's hard to say where do you see yourself in five years, because today
you have a job, tomorrow you don't have.
So, it's really hard, okay, it's rude to say that you see yourself in their place, maybe,
but it will also be fun to watch their face when you say that.
But let's go back to the point, to the interview that I had.
The woman asked me if I am ready to put my complete life in that company, and that means
like she was googling me, and she discovered that I'm doing blogging and everything, so
she asked me if I'm ready to quit that to work only for her, and then I was like, okay,
I don't get your point, because I have three weekends, why do you care if I'm working the
first shift, for example, on Friday, and if that afternoon I'm going to fly to Hawaii,
and if I manage to return at Monday to my shift, why do you care where did I spend my
weekend, how did I spend my free time, it doesn't matter that I need to quit that part
of my life just to work for you, if I don't work for you during the weekends.
So, that was the first thing that motivated me in that moment to not work for that company,
because they're not allowed to go so deep in my privacy, and to make questions about my
free weekends, and what I'm going to do on my free weekends, if the company is not working
on the weekends. The second thing was that she was just calling me like that to make
an interview, and she didn't want to talk about salary and nothing, she just wanted to see me,
because the main boss was on vacation two days more, and she just needed somebody for coffee,
so she called me, and she was like, we can meet in a few days again when the boss,
when the main, main boss is here, and I was like, okay, then what's the point
about this job interview, about this conversation, if I cannot, well, you are not able to respond my
questions about the salary, about the company, something more, you don't know those things, but
you are here to judge me about my hobbies, and what I'm doing in my free time. So, I don't get
her points, and it doesn't matter, because I'm happy that I moved from that company,
and that I didn't accept that job, because I think it's so impolite and judging. Also,
she was judging my life in the sense that I was lived, that I lived abroad,
and the time when I was living in Malta, and she told me that she don't accept that part of my
life, that they are not going to buy some things about the stuff, how they do it in another
countries, and in Croatia, no, and I was just like standing and looking at her like, first of all,
I didn't ask you that I do things that I did there, because I know that the whole system is
not the same, that some things in Croatia you are not doing like you are doing abroad,
and that is missing in Croatia, because obviously we are not going further, we are just going back,
because we are not changing the technology and ability of work and everything, but doesn't
matter, I was ready to adapt to that environment and to that kind of work. I didn't ask for nothing
more, I didn't ask not even for nothing that I was doing there, but she made that right for her
to judge me about my abilities, and about my experience, and what I know, and that she missed,
because she never did that, and I don't judge her about that, it's your choice, it's your life,
you are going to choose where you're going to live, and what are you going to do, so,
you know, I don't like the people like that, that they judge you on the interview, what are you
going to do, or what did you did in your past. Also, about other things, how to prepare,
just be confident, you need to judge in that moment, is it okay to say everything that you know,
is it smarter to be quiet about some things, when I say that, because in Croatia, like,
when you say that you know a lot of things, then they give you the minimum salary, and they hire
you for the five jobs in the company, you are doing five jobs, not only one, for the same salary,
so, it happens a lot. By that, I mean, judge in that moment, if and to who you can say that you
know to do more things, or you're going to stick just to the basic ones, and pretend that you're
stupid, and you don't know other things. So, it really depends, and judge by yourself in that
moment. Also, dare to ask questions, when I mean that, dare about to ask, can you get a promotion
in the company, for how long you need to work, how hard you need to work, and what can you do
for the first, to improve the company, then to see if you can get more job there, like,
if you can get to the higher position, and what is the highest position in the company that you
can get, and then see, and decide, first, are you going to work there, if they hire you, and
the second one, for how long you are going to stay, when you reach the top in the company,
of course, you're going to move further, you're going to ask for more, if not there, in another
company, so it's all normal, but just to be confident, prepare your skills, prepare, and
practice with someone, practice with your friend, practice in front of the mirror,
practice in front of the camera, what are you going to say, inform yourself a little bit about
the company, so if they ask, what do you know about their company, so that you're ready to say
some things, not just to watch them, or to say, oh, sorry, I don't know, and things like that.
There are also still companies who are hiring just the men, but they call women on the
interviews, and they say to you in your face that you are not going to get the job,
because they hire only men, but they need to, by the law, to at least get some women to the
interview, so it really depends on the company, and everything, but the first, the main thing is
that you believe in yourself, and that you get on the table, in that moment, everything that you can
get, and that you think that you can get to that company, and to yourself, and that would be all
for this video, thank you for watching, and hope that it was helpful for you, that it gave you a
little motivation for future job interviews, or at least motivation that you change your job
that you have right now, if you are not satisfied with it. That would be it, if you
