Hello everyone!
Today I am here to bless you with my top 8 healthy and easy snacks that you can make
at home.
I have 4 sweet options and 4 savory options because sometimes you want something a little
bit more sweet, sometimes you're craving something a little bit more salty, and honestly these
don't even have to be eaten as snacks.
Sometimes I just want a little something that's not an entire meal and so I'll eat this for
like breakfast or as a dessert option.
But overall I'm just so excited for this video because recently I've been more on a health
kick trying to like get my health on track and I think starting off with substituting
your unhealthy cravings for healthier options is a great place to start.
So I hope this video is helpful for you, I don't know how but my previous top snacks video
became my most popular video so I thought I would do a little part 2, okay?
So without further ado, let us begin, roll the clips!
Okay, I'm going to start off with a very simple yet scrumptious little snack I like to call
avocado in a bowl.
So I start off by cutting a ripe avocado in half and I took out the seed, then gather
your filling and you could honestly fill it up with whatever you want really but I'm using
balsamic vinegar blended with fig, extra virgin olive oil, some truffle salt, and some black
pepper.
Literally all you do is pour all the ingredients into the belly of the avocado and then take
a magical spoon and scoop out the meat of the avocado with a little bit of the balsamic
and olive oil and oh my goodness, this hits all of my taste buds in the best of ways.
The sweet and acidic taste of the vinegar with the creamy flesh of the avocado and the
truffle salt, I actually just finished this on the spot, that's how good it was.
This next recipe is based off of one of my favorite desserts, frozen yogurt, and these
fro-yo dots are a healthier way to treat yourself if you're craving something a little sweet
and tart.
So start off with your favorite yogurt brand, you can really choose whatever yogurt flavor
you want, for this case I chose three different flavors, strawberry rhubarb, blueberry, and
peach, and I started off by mixing each yogurt flavor to a smooth consistency, then I poured
the mixture into the corner of a ziplock bag and cut off the tip to use as a pipe.
I then squeezed out each little dot onto some parchment paper, leaving some space in between
each other, and I squeezed the leftover yogurt back into the container to save for later.
After leaving them in the freezer for a few hours, they should be hard enough where you
can pick them off the parchment paper and place them into a Tupperware to eat as a little
snack.
Technically you can bite into these, but I love how these melt in your mouth like little
ice cream candies, and just out of curiosity, let me know if you're the type of person to
lick or bite into your ice cream, because I'm definitely a licker and I can't stand
the thought of biting into cold ice cream.
Back to a savory snack option, these are kind of like fresh little bites of pizza in your
mouth, without the crust of course, and all you'll need is some grape tomatoes and fresh
mozzarella cheese, mine came already marinated with oils, herbs, and spices, but otherwise
you can just marinate fresh mozzarella with some olive oil and whatever herbs you like.
All I did was literally place the mozzarella balls onto a plate and rinse my grape tomatoes
so they were nice and clean, and I also picked a fresh basil leaf and tore it into little
pieces with my fingers, and this just unleashes the basil flavor, and I've always liked fresh
basil on top of my pizza, so if you haven't tried that before, try that as well.
And there you go, that is it, you can go fancy and put these on a kebab stick if you want,
but I just like to eat it on a plate with a fork, and bon appetit!
This sweet snack is my rendition of a peanut butter banana sandwich, I first peeled a banana
and sliced it in half vertically, then I stirred my almond butter nice and well, and spread
it onto the banana like an open faced sandwich.
And lastly, I added some mini semi-sweet chocolate chips, and ta-da!
If you want, you can even plop in the microwave to melt the chocolate a little bit,
and you can also drizzle some honey if you want it to be extra sweet.
Before I continue, I did want to thank HelloFresh for being today's video sponsor.
If you have not heard already, HelloFresh is America's number one meal kit that provides
easy, chef-curated seasonal recipes delivered straight to your door.
You can choose between different meal plans, including low-calorie, vegetarian,
and family-friendly options.
I just chose the classic meal plan that provided three recipes for the week, and each recipe
comes with step-by-step instructions and pre-measured ingredients.
So to prepare, I just got out all the ingredients and supplies I needed, preheated the oven,
and got to cookin'.
Most meals from HelloFresh only take around half an hour to make,
and is now starting from $5.66 per serving.
HelloFresh is also very flexible, and if you wanted to,
you could easily change your delivery days or food preferences,
and skip a week whenever you need to.
I've personally heard of HelloFresh from so many YouTubers, and I've always been curious
to try them out because my fiancé and I usually choose to eat out most of the time,
and I really, really wanted to get in the habit of cooking at home more often
without the hassle of grocery shopping and researching recipes to try,
and also without having to pay over $10 a person for a meal.
So it was really nice to have a home-cooked meal for once,
and something about it made the food taste extra special.
If you would like to try out HelloFresh, you can go to hellofresh.com and use the
which is $80 off your first month of HelloFresh.
I'd say to anyone who is trying to eat healthier but don't know where to begin,
try out HelloFresh, and also the rest of the recipes in this video.
And I promise you, you'll be quite shocked to find out how simple it is
to get a fresh and delicious meal on your plate.
Okay, back to the video.
This is probably one of my favorite recipes.
All you will really need is a head of purple cauliflower,
and you'll first remove the heavy stem from the bottom of the cauliflower,
then just cut around the center of the stem
until you're able to pick out the little heads of the cauliflower.
I wanted the cauliflower pieces to be like little popcorn bites,
so I just broke them apart with my hands into small popcorn-sized pieces
and placed them onto a pan that I drizzled with some olive oil.
And then I drizzled some more olive oil, balsamic vinegar,
some salt, and some black pepper, and tossed it all together with a glove
to make sure every part of the cauliflower was well marinated with the seasoning.
Then I tossed the pan into an oven that was heated to 425 degrees,
and I made sure to toss the cauliflower around every 15 minutes for 45 minutes total.
And the final result is a caramelized and crispy cauliflower
that's incredibly flavorful on its own.
But if you want to go above and beyond, you can even dip it into your favorite hummus.
I'm using this garlic heaven hummus that I got at a local farmer's market,
and I cannot even begin to describe how amazing this tastes together.
So much more satisfying than eating a bag of chips.
This one is a tribute to one of my favorite TV shows, Gilmore Girls.
Richard Gilmore said it best.
It's important to start the day off correctly, Lorelai.
A grapefruit is brain fruit.
It has vitamin C and folic acid, and it helps with your digestion.
It really is a terrific fruit.
The best part about this recipe is that all you really need is the grapefruit itself.
In the past, I never really chose to eat grapefruit
because I didn't know how to eat it properly,
but that is why I am here today to teach you just how.
Start by slicing it right down the middle and not through the stem,
and then take a sharp knife and cut all the way around
each individual section of the grapefruit, otherwise known as the membranes.
And this is optional, but if the taste of the grapefruit is too bitter for you,
you can balance it out with a little drizzle of honey,
or you can sprinkle some brown sugar on top, use a blowtorch, or what have you.
Then I just use a spoon to scoop out the juicy goodness of the inside of the grapefruit.
And this was, again, so good.
I just finished it right on the spot.
One of my favorite snacks to get at the Korean sauna
is their hard-boiled eggs that have been high-pressure cooked.
Whether you use white eggs or brown eggs,
the egg whites will turn a brown color in the end, so it doesn't really matter.
They are also much softer than a regular hard-boiled egg,
with a deep roasted nutty flavor.
And all I did was add the eggs into an instant pot with a cup of water,
and I sprinkled some salt all over as well.
And then I set my instant pot to the meat stew option on high pressure for 60 minutes,
and then I just let it be for an hour.
And yes, you will need a pressure cooker for this recipe,
but if you don't have one already,
I highly recommend getting an instant pot.
You will need it and use it for the rest of your life.
And after an hour, your eggs should be ready.
These are so yummy and healthy for you,
and a great simple snack to take with you on the go.
I also like to use these in my salads, toasts, and other dishes,
so I can never have too many.
And last but not least are these crispy apple cookies.
I love apples, especially in the fall season.
So just take your favorite kind of apple and start slicing them into thin slices.
I used a melon baller tool to scoop out the inner core of the apple each time I cut a slice,
but you could also use an apple corer if you have one of those.
Then I took my absolute favorite guilty pleasure,
cookie butter, and spread that all over the apple rings.
You could also use peanut butter, almond butter, hazelnut butter,
cashew butter, whatever kind of butter you desire.
And I learned that if you dab off the dampness of the apple with a napkin first,
it'll be much easier to spread your spread
because it'll be drier so it'll just stick on better.
Then I just sprinkled some ground cinnamon
because I truly believe that cinnamon and apples are just meant to be together.
And honestly, I could have just eaten this as is and it's amazing,
but if you want to be a little extra,
you can also sprinkle on top some granola, some pumpkin seeds, or roasted nuts.
Mine ended up looking like a fall wreath or something,
but I'm telling you, these are so crispy and so delicious.
All right, back here with me again.
Be sure to share with all the rest of us your favorite snack if I didn't mention it
because I would love to know.
I love y'all and I'll see you soon.
Lip gloss.
