[Vlog] Ramadhan preparations + Q&A | Malay Culture

That's actually my ringtone Okay, first of all, i'm, sorry if I look like I just woke up and You know, I wanted to shower but then like some pipes are broken And I can't shower anymore. So now I just Have to deal with this So today is like the last day before ramadan because I posted the Eat video and you guys were like very very interested in that you guys had like a lot of questions So I was like, you know what? Maybe you guys are curious about ramadan as well So I did ask the community and instagram if you guys have any questions about ramadan. So I hope that by making this video I Will be able to like answer those questions And if not, then you guys can just keep asking in the comment section and i'll try my best to answer them Okay All right, so I think my mom Um, she has started preparations downstairs because I can hear like, you know plates and everything They're just being moved around because she did say that she was gonna change like the entire plate collection And then like I don't know she's she's usually very very extra. So yeah, i'm gonna show you that. Yes. Like I said, uh, you guys have sent in like a lot of questions a lot of your questions I would just love to show it to you guys instead of just like talking but there are some questions where I feel like I should either like number one brief you guys first like what's gonna happen what to look out for um What are the terms that you probably want to pay attention to? And number two, I guess like i'm not gonna really like show it so I Sort of just have like explain it to you guys now so Yeah, that's what i'll be doing now Uh, I should adjust myself Maybe a little bit to the side. Um, I am also sort of rushing right now because like my uncle just arrived and I sort of just want to like hang But no, let's do this first while the light is still here Okay, let's begin with the I guess most basic questions that i'm pretty sure a lot of you guys already know the answer to Already, but like in case there are some people who don't what is ramadan? So ramadan is the ninth month In the muslim calendar muslim Yes, we do have our own calendars and during ramadan all muslims are required to fast from dawn till sunset Does everyone have to do it? Yes, except for if you are stuck in certain Situation so like for women if you're on your period then you're not no you can't fast But doesn't mean that you don't you can't just miss your fasting day So like let's say i'm on my period for like six seven days after ramadan I would have to repay those days by fasting for six or seven days Um, do you do the original practice? Yes. I don't know. Like how do you change? How do you change stuff because like this practice are pretty set, you know It is what it is written in the quran hadith like it is it it has always been that way So yeah, you can't really change much about it But of course there are like additional things that we would do but only because it's part of our culture Like do you get what i'm saying right now? so like for malays after performing the the night prayers Okay in the islamic world new days usually begins at sunset so First of ramadan for us would start tonight So tonight we will start the month by performing the special prayers that is only performed during ramadan It's something that if you want to do it, you do it, you know, like you'll get extra points But like if you don't want to do it, it's okay as well. But yeah, uh, what was I talking about? Right So like the additional the cultural parts of the Practice that we added during ramadan would be after those prayers Um, we would be doing something called more and more is basically where you just you know Gather together with your family like maybe if you're like play, uh praying at the mosque They would always like prepare like food afterwards for you to like enjoy together. So yeah more is something that we would add because it is Something from the culture instead of like, you know what the religion Is asking you to do but yeah um I guess that's it you know, maybe I should just like Upload this video first so that I could give you guys more space to like ask questions But then like i'm gonna be recording ramadan tomorrow so By the time I upload this i'm not gonna be recording or be vlogging anymore.
