We are currently en route to Susak
We have now left our small cove where we managed to ride out the Bora a bit
and we are now setting off towards Susak with also good winds
And the only thing that's a bit hard to get used to right now but also good
That we can just test it out now or find
out is that it's currently really cool
We're going back and forth here but as I said it's fine
Now we're just camping out on the boat
We have now arrived in Artaturi I have no idea if
I'm pronouncing it correctly
So sorry if it's wrong
We are still having a bit of trouble with the Croatian islands
We haven't practiced that yet
We spent the last night in Susak in the bay and it wasn't very good
We also came in as the
third boat into the bay
It's quite small Maybe some of you know it too
It's super nice totally natural and you really think wow mega cool
We watched the sunset but it was already
quite late just like the entire trip
And yes accordingly it really rocked us through the night
It eventually became kind of annoying
Then we immediately set off early in the morning
and came here and we are really happy here
Here over there I think there's also an airport right behind me
Sometimes a few small planes land but that's not really disturbing
Otherwise we have already been in the water
Megageil Turquoise
Yes really refreshing So
it's really good for us here in the bay
And we think the next few nights or maybe just the next
night let's see how long we stay will definitely be more relaxed
In two days the Bora is supposed to blow again
And this bay is well protected
That means we will probably stay here for a few days
There is also something to see
There is a small village here a restaurant and we can take small boat rides
Also I think we can keep ourselves pretty busy
Until Bora comes we'll just sit here a bit
And when that's done it goes further south
We are going ashore again now in the dinghy to pick up some fresh supplies
Weil the fresh stuff has sold really well in the last few days
And we saw yesterday that there's a small supermarket there
And maybe we'll be lucky and find some peppers or maybe even some salad again
Because that stuff yeah it really disappears around here like nothing
Steffi and I have just completed our first real Boranight
It was with really strong winds reaching up to 40 knots
And that was quite interesting for us to observe
Because at first there were 26 yachts here with us in the bay
And when it finally started we thought
they had already begun to swoy properly
We were all going back and forth somewhat crazy with the motor
It was a huge dance of ships
We also tried to film it
But it never comes across as vidly in the movies as it actually feels
But everything is fine here
The anchor held up really well
We learned only one lesson from this Boranight
We got a bit too close to the buoy marker
And they have a smaller Swoyen circle
That means we have always come a bit closer
It didn't happen either There was always enough space
But the next time we look for a place to ride out a storm at anchor
Then not directly next to buoy areas
Because they have a different circle for swinging
But otherwise everything worked well
We saw a lot It was
an exciting experience
Let's hope we don't have it again soon
Yes I'm still a bit broken
Although I actually slept for a long time
Ruben has been out on the boat the entire time
And I joined him around 6 o'clock
And I also observed a bit
It somehow reminded me of a car scooter on the Wiesn
Weil the boats kept moving back and forth all the time
And then at some point someone once again lifted the anchor and ended up leaving
Also yeah it was quite a wild night
And I hope the other boats had a good time
Nothing too dramatic has happened here yet
But it's already blowing quite strongly
And as Ruben just said you can never really take it that seriously
And I mean that's when the feeling just comes along
like the wind blowing in your face and around your ears
Also those who have already experienced it can really relate to it now
But it's somehow a crazy situation
I'm still a bit
sweaty We have now tried our Gennaker for the first time
And there I have to kind of dig in a bit think a bit logically I
have done that now
And now the thing is standing Totally cool
We have now raised it for the first time and now have five knots of true wind
And we are at least two That's not bad at all
It looks nice up there
I'm going to make us a small lunch now
It's going to be pita with feta and tomatoes
And I'll quickly chop all of that together
And then I fill these delicious pitas with it
Yes some not-so-pleasant news
We just dropped anchor in Solin Bay
Here in Croatia on such an island
And during the docking maneuver we found out that the ship doesn't go in reverse
We can't get the car into forward gear either
That's actually a lucky break
Luckily this didn't happen in a harbor where we have to maneuver closely
There is a lot of space around us
That means we've now given the chain properly
The anchor is on the bottom I hope it holds us for a while now
And yes I've taken a look at it now
It looks like we have damage to the gas line or at least the translation
Then nothing happens when we go forward
And even if we reverse nothing comes from below
Also on the motor and the transmission there are small rails that are responsible for the gear ratio
Eventually when I step on the gas here they go forward or backward to carry out the order down there
Nothing else comes in I can still
manually shift gears and give
gas at the bottom of the engine But not with this lever here
And that's where my expertise ends
I think it's the gas valve
Because as I said there's no translation coming through
But we really need to have it checked
out by a mechanic
That's really annoying and frustrating again But there's nothing we can do about it
Fortunately we joined a membership with Seahelp before our departure
That's like the ADAC for the sea
And they have very good contacts
We just called them and they are now checking if they can arrange a mechanic or someone who knows what they're doing
And if that's not the case they'll drag us to the next marina
But Steffi and I are increasingly realizing why it's said that long-haul sailing is boat repairs at the most beautiful places in the world
We are traveling for 14 days or 10 days
Yes but now it has also affected us
And luckily here in such a free anchorage there's nothing here
We've really had a bit of luck
Yes and we hope it's just that
Let's have someone take a look now
It's actually quite good that it happened at the beginning of the journey
That's when you can easily fix such mistakes
Even here in Croatia in Europe
It's not that cut off yet and you can still really rely on an infrastructure there
Yes but that's just how it is
It's not always sunshine
Even when the sun is
shining There are just some annoying moments
Our daily schedule is gone now
And yes now we just have to see how everything looks in the next few hours
I am waiting for the call back right now As soon as
I know more I will also give you an update here
We just received the call
It's very hard to find a mechanic here because we're right in the middle of the island world
And fortunately towing is included in our membership so it's all included
That means they will now tow us to Sardar
And this is the next major port here where there is also a fairly good infrastructure
And there we will take a look at it
Funny the captain is sitting here and I am sitting here
Who do you think is steering the Benko
Yes a little tip the autopilot is not it We are
zipping along here at seven knots like a speedboat
So fast as we have ever been under the motor I think
Let's now be dragged into Sardar's harbor and hope that everything works out
Yes but they actually meant that there are also mechanics there
And also yes you just get replacement parts faster when we need something
And that's why I think it's a very good idea to just do it now
The mechanic was just here and my suspicion has been confirmed
The gas line is broken
And it's really good that the guys from Cielb brought us here because I don't have a gas valve on board
That means we'll replace it now and hopefully the machine will work again
Let's see further Fingers crossed
Hope for the best but I already believe it
So everything is fixed again It was really just this torn gas line
Alternatively I think the term "Gaszug" is not the correct expression
I think it's more like a Boulderzug or something similar
Anyway the connection that goes to the coupling
Two connections emerge from our gas lever here
One that directly leads to the engine and regulates how fast you go how much gas you give in other words how much fuel comes in
Diesel You know I'm the absolute expert
And the other cable goes to the coupling and the transmission and just says forward or reverse please
And that's just torn It's like a small wire
And we also took one extra with us now
And I've taken another close look at how to switch it so that if it happens to us again while we're on the move
That I can do it on my own because it's not magic
You just need to understand the system and then you can do it on your own
Oh no I'm really worn out I think fame is worn out too
We were just shopping taking the time here
Since then there has been a Lidl-Bar right around the corner where it is
And we've restocked our fresh items here once again as well as our snack drawer
Weil you know like muesli bars and that sort of thing you just can't get them in small supermarkets on the islands
And it was really cool that we could boost it all once more
Phew what a week We had everything from happy moments to deep-down sad moments
We still feel great on our Benko and are very happy to have finally started
They have now also left the port of Zadar and made a small catch here in the bay yesterday
That was also quite nice last night we slept well here even though we had a bit of wind
But we are also quite alone here that's really cool
And yes next week we will continue to go back into the island world or further into the island world
We are really looking forward to it and of course will take you along again
Feel free to also stop by Instagram Facebook and Patreon
We also give you live updates on where we are what we're doing and where we're hanging out
And we look forward to seeing you again in our next video Take care
