Welcome to OrkonTube. Today we are going to do case study on LLP house in Brazil.
This is a leisure house designed by LVMR in 2019. The area of the house is 772 meter square.
In this video we will study about the planning, materials used in the building, ventilation
process and how they used site surrounding as an architectural element. Site is situated over
the hills facing the sunset in the countryside plains with the privileged view. Coming to the
planning part, the house main idea is to provide refuge from urban life. The project evokes the
concept of a beachside house, a common architectural style on Brazil. A large living room was created
in the center of the house meeting any family needs. The client wanted to create a house
prepared to receive and encourage residents interaction. Wide common spaces spread
throughout the main axis to not to lose the feeling of welcoming. The porous curved space
creates a geometric counterpoint for the rest of the architecture. A highlight in the leisure area
is the spa which is connected with couple suit and the pool through a submerged passage.
It provides privacy and a moment of relaxation framed by the sunset. The architects used
regional material such as stone, wood and straw. Frijo wood is a natural and traditional element
in Brazilian architecture which is used in the slated panels. Retractable glass and wooden doors
are used to get a wider open space. On the balcony, the pergola is covered by cattle straw.
The infinite edge of the swimming pool is covered in Fijo stone, it refers to a natural light.
They even used wood from old railway tracks as one of the access. Lodge openings increase natural
lighting and provide environmental and thermal comfort. On slab, the architecture team created a
green roof which creates a cooler environment inside the house. The rises in the hillside
binded to the house landscape. The team designed a broad plan to enjoy the view at different times
of the day. Due to high topography, the scenery is created without losing any privacy. It brings
residents closer to the nature.
